Beep bop I'm a summary bot and I reduced this post by 90%: Thanks you for the link though :P. Did you catch the white text in her post asking to be contacted by Ruin saying lol this is a joke? The problem with e!Archer reads is I can see where on a quiet D1, I'm a decent target for a villager who doesn't want to think too hard about things right now. If I were DeTess, I'd be voting me. Maybe not with the gusto of TJ, but I would 'If you're a villager, I told you so' is an interesting contribution

What action would you have submitted last night, had you remembered to? What're you thinking of doing today? What's SCP?

Alpha E!Alpha who gave up a protection item for village clout? I can see them having learned to play sub optimally mechanically to get shielded from votes. But it's also a really bad move to not convert someone N0. I'm leaning village on Alpha because of it That said, I feel like the more natural Researcher reaction to siphon investiture N0. It's a little odd they burnt their stock instead. Did you consider gathering more, Alpha? Are you world hopping today? I was suspecting you of intentionally playing under the radar, but that feels like info the baddies should have known TBB!

Might conbine these posts later, but it doesn't feel right to make this an edit. I too am curious how people are attributing specific roles to players and not just getting village/not village vibes from people Note the relaxed way Mat conveys this information. A stark contrast to a recent elim game from them where they were very defensive about their unavailability and went to great lengths to talk about it being RL related so they wouldn't catch suspicion for it. Necessarily TJ is AI, actually. This joke is a reference to the absolute bars around TJ's name and the AI generated RP they are using this game. It's very funny. Why're you scared? Why're you overwhelmed? What are you doing to help?? ARE YOU THE BAD GUY!!!! TBB out here being assertively right is a vibe. Mild points away for saying "I'm a villager" but overall I think the tone is too bold for an elim/member of a minority faction to adopt @Elandera are you pro or anti containment OOC? Fifth Alpha

Okay lets do this properly Here's my opening post. As you can read between the lines, I'm in the midst of reading the rules. And am still confused about stuff, such as the potential existence of secret wincons. As I'm typing, DeTess posts and I respond to the ostensibly illogical order of their list. They say good things about Prudence, they say bad things about Mercy, and yet Mercy is higher on their priority list. I missed to subtext about docs devaluing PMs because I'd briefly forgotten docs were a thing. Or more likely, I wasn't thinking through the implication for PMs - my brain hadn't adjusted my default view of PMs based on the information that docs served a similar role. This is normal because I have a lousy memory and it's 8am. So I walk back the poke in the next post because Detess explains themselves splendidly. Here I make the comment Kas pointed out, arguing that me not thinking about the restriction on Researchers that requires them to be on Silverlight to mine for investiture is indicative of me not having the Researcher role at all or me having more information to process in my GM PM. In reality, I was more focused on relearning the rules than I was on my role. I said 'cool, default role, grabs investiture', then wandered off to figure out what my starting investiture did and which one I should get next. I think there's good reasons to vote for me. I've been less prominent, which is where an elim needs to lurk when they're a single point of failure for the team (and balance!). Meta-wise, I also fit the profile of who might be trusted to run a team and manage to submit actions regularly. @|TJ| @DeTess @Fifth Scholar thoughts? hey @Kasimir congrats on 6k posts. Also stop assuming I'm competent at things I'm not :P. * Olivier Cosmos used to have an agent. He still did, on paper. But after a recent round of layoffs, the talent company had replaced them with a cheaper alternative, a two year-old child. "BUY. TICKETS." Cosmos was tempted to throw their communication device across the room. "TICK-ETS." The baby didn't respond. It seemed doubtful that Cosmos would be able to worldhop any time soon.

You know what they say about assumptions! They're an anagram of 'I, sus pants, am 0' maybe I misremembered because I thought Ruin was the coinshot. I'm not going to bother looking that up again Mat has zero sense of paranoia despite getting a bunch of joke votes. That's gotta count for something. I believe that red text, even with no weight behind it, does count for something in terms of ability to project impending doom Care to join me on my Fifth train instead? It's very reasonable and well thought out

To provide an explanation of my reasoning, it's a silly vote that's irresponsibly placed It's also, not true? Pretty sure ties = no deaths Thanks! A lot of people are having allergic reactions, but fortunately everyone has a large supply of masks on hand. I hope you stay safe as well. Shout out to my new countryman Araris, who must be going through the same thing. Congrats on passing your Canadacy exam, btw

Is there anyone in this game who isn't a Researcher? All the evil team leaders also start with the role I was assuming it was a note to self from Ashbringer regarding whether or not giving them 2.5 conversions was viable Actually I think Bald Brandon should keep quiet so the non 17thshard factions can't find him. Or was that not a Ruin claim, BB-TKN? Counterpoint: the first time I responded to you I hadn't read the rules. The second time, I had, and that changed my perspective. For example, I was reminded of the doc mechanic. And how the containment thing worked. Slight hesitation about voting Mat or Drake today, because they accrued some suspicion N0. I tried with Drake, anyway. Logic being they're bad conversion targets. Fifth

-DeTess' point that PMs aren't very useful in a docs game is a good one. -Conversion is a no brainer, yeah? Maybe you wait to see who will last, but your worst case scenario goes from losing everything with one death to only losing half your team. They'll take the insurance and should take it early. -I have mixed feelings about pushing yourself into being an Independent player. You're gonna have to justify making us lose a villager, but I think there's situations where it makes sense. -There's going to be a cascading effect from breaking Shards out of containment. Less contained shards being available to tap means they're more likely to have four people siphon from them, resulting in more and more being broken out each round. -Vessel Actions seem like a thing the elims will covet. Vessel Shield is also handy.

*doubt* Why so low on PMs? Like, lower than the one you said is elim leaning General reminder that world hopping is a DAY action. Had to check that. GM, were the secret wincons made public? I can't find the words secret rules in the doc anywhere.

I liked that the threshold was high enough that not everyone hit the maximum every round. The game is more interesting that way. The points thing also made it easier to guess who was Seeking, versus hunting for a single, unknowable player the whole game. It also made it so that an inactive Seeker wasn't an issue, or a mayor Seeker. I think 11 players is always going to be fought with difficulties, balance wise. It's just a bad number for a QF. Biggest comment would be that no one intuitively understood that the stamp affects exe flips too, and that's an important element. How dare you lie in PMs to a fellow villager And well done you for *checks notes* discovering the final elim via dream. :D. Good game, team. That was possibly my best ever village game, so it was a nice palette cleanser. Thanks for running this, GM, IM
-
Random thoughts: -If the elims can essentially create new elims at the same rate that they're being exed, even if the village is able to hit a vessel every time it pops up, they'll never make progress. Any solutions based on a few key roles doing their jobs are single points of failure. -there's a lot of village leaning roles, like exorcist, assassin etc. Easy to meta game the distro -take overs of inactive players are the best way to get a vessel undetected. Village meta hesitance to waste an exe on an inactive may make that game breaking -similarly. In kas' body hopping game, elims paused their output while they adjusted to their new body. There were notable activity shifts. So there'd be a lot of pressure to maintain consistent activity levels or be accused, which might hurt some people -this doesn't allow for assistance from the possessed body. That was a helpful feature of kas' game -puppeting your vessel without revealing your voice, or timezone, will be difficult. I doubt I could manage to hold a conversation as someone else, especially in PMs, where people encourage more fast paced, direct discussion. Preference would be the game has limited/no PMs
-
Just some phrases. "I'm a villager," was said, which I never trust. And they were checking their PMs constantly even when they hadn't recieved responses. They claimed boredom and adrenaline from last game, I accused them of of having nervousness from being an elim currently. Speaking of phrasing, TJ and Devo are connected by a shared vote, but it's worth bringing up that Devo made an interesting slip in our PM. I gave them a list of players including TJ, and they said something like, "I'll put TKN on the radar." I feel like they'd subconsciously latch onto elim teammate!TJ's name and not accidentally write it as TKN. Still, Szeth was going for the Ring, so it was a good chance to ruin that result for us if you exe them. Been thinking about the kill. I don't think Wiz had max SP. They were active in PMs, they were active in thread, but it's a fairly mid presence. I considered it as a sign of e!Alpha, but I feel like you shoot me instead, it both gets rid of an Alpha voter and is more likely to ruin a Ring result.

I did notice that. And thank you for confirming I called that Alpha shot because most of my planning was with Wiz and Szeth I appreciate you not claiming the target's identity immediately, but now aren't you a prime NK target? I concur. But this does raise the question of aren't the elims more likely to conceal their members as villagers than to use the Ring offensively? They have the option of straight up lying about a scan that they successfully bid on, so that has offensive potential. Meanwhile you don't need to guess which villager will be scanned if you're playing defense, and the payoffs are higher. So green scans are actually less conclusive than red ones, imo Edit: I'll add to Fifth's with a ceremonial Devo vote

Why would I ever lie to you? I was aware of two bidders, Szeth among them. Hopefully the other one got the result. Howndo you feel about my Alpha take? What do you think about how the votes went down in general, Fifth?

I believe that Alpha is village. I spent our PM pointing out the ways they were scummy sounding, and suggested they talk to Wiz as a potential PM buddy. When they did, Wiz told them the two of us were suspicious of them, which should have undermined my musing about voting Szeth or TJ in their mind. I don't see e!Alpha having enough confidence in their position that they would throw away a vote onto Fifth. The elims should have expected that they would need a three vote wagon to get Alpha through safely, or more likely, two two vote CWs to give them a 60% chance at least. Unless someone pledged to vote Fifth to Alpha, then bailed, Alpha looks village to me.

At work right now, but no, no results from my end Can everyone explain why they voted how they did? I voted Alpha from their sus PMing with me. I called that shot to a few people. Devo might be the only surviving one though.

As an elim last game, I didn't like it very much. I actually think both views on it are relatively NAI, so TJ. Machancially and in terms of presence, V!TJ is the smallest loss to us, and an individual chosen at random isn't that much more suspicious than my best suspect, since today has been a bit of a wash.

Disadvantage: we don't know who is dying today Advantage: neither do they Nice to be on the ignorant bliss side of that this game. Two years ago. The Wasintown Ant Farm (And Duck Emporium). Georg looked out over the flooded valley. The tips of ant hills poked through the murky waters. On them and around them, hoards of ducks were roosting for the night. "At least the ants are gone," he muttered. In the distance, two of them began to jostle for position on one of the islands. That began to wake the others, signaling the beginning of a new day of battle. * One year ago. The Wasintown Ant Farm (And Duck Emporium). "HEAVE!" The farmers pulled the ancient chain. The links pulled taught as their muscles strained. "HEAVE!" The sound of quacking grew louder. There wasn't much time before they would be found. There was a pop, and a sudden loosening of the tension. Georg scanned the valley for a reason to be hopeful. It appeared in the form of a whirlpool, sudden and fast, sucking water into it with gusto. At long last, the valley was draining. "Finally gonna be rid of them," someone remarked. Georg didn't respond. "Why the long face? You're free of them." Georg extended a finger. They followed his gaze to the mounds. Long thought abandoned. Drowned and destroyed. The ant hills were moving again. The bugs had survived.

See I started that post wanting to vote for you, mostly on the basis of unusually high RP levels, but then I remembered your pre game activity and it didn't make sense any more I don't know if you realize I'm the prime kill target and are trying to make me say it, or if you're asking for trusts in a highly unusual way Is this a way of setting up your CC vote or is this a belief about elim activity generally? Good to know. You brought this upon yourself. Three years ago. The Wasintown Ant Farm (And Duck Emporium). "Grandpa Georg! Look what I've found." A young boy in dusty overalls skipped towards the porch. Georg leaned forward in his rocking chair, pushing his glasses up his nose to see what the lad was holding. "Well shucks, son. If that isn't the reddest ant I've ever seen!" The boy shifted his weight from side to side, barely able to contain his excitement. "Is it a Queen?" Georg pinched it gently, careful not to break its delicate legs as he inspected it. "I'm sorry, lad. I don't think so. But it's a good sign. I'm sure we'll find a red one to breed soon. There's more of em being made every day." "Grandpa Georg, are we doing this right?" The old man chuckled. "Well even if we aren't, you know what we say about mistakes." "Feed them to the ducks?" "That's right. Life became so much easier when we implemented that policy." "Yeah. I still miss my brother though." Georg tussled the boy's hair. "You can't live life with regrets. Now scram, you need to feed the blue colony before sundown. You don't want them to swarm!" In the distance, thunder rumbled. A storm was brewing.

Guards! Randen has a sword! If this were a game of Clue, I'd be most of the way to winning now that I've caught someone with the murder weapon. I think the people we've heard from the most (RPers) are a good group to check for baddies in. Spies get a jolt of adrenaline from their position, which I reckon translates into high degrees of commitment to being vocal. But now that I think about that, me old man brain seems to have been a little foggy. I remember hearing from [Xino, Stick, and Alpha - and TKN and TJ, for the record] before this all started. [Fifth] could be considered the exception, if you compare them to earlier. [Wiz] was unvocal, and they've stayed that way. That's a positive sign. If I assume that the baddies will acquire a decent amount of social credit, SP for short, the right move might be to get rid of these freeloaders. Silent individuals who have yet to contribute to strengthening our position. [See that Xino QF with bidding where the elims won by killing high earners and the village exed the other high earners, leaving me, a decently high earner, in a good position to buy a knife and evil triumph]. [I'm not confident that Fifth RPing heavily is out of character for them. Therefore no deviation from the norm, so it's a moot point for analysis. Genuinely considering Contribution Crusading as the best path right now]. But what do I know. I'm just an old man who misses his duck farm.

Hear hear! The only time you should discount seniors is Tuesday at the Walmarket! I know all about being dealt bad hands. I brought my own deck from home, I hope ya don’t mind if I deal myself in here. Let’s see what I’ve got. The Eleven of Hearts! Quite like the eleven of us. A large number, but smaller than say the Twelve of Hearts! I’ve got the beginnings of a run… Now the Joker! That reminds me of the Forger’s Stamp I hear is available. A good defensive tool for the spies to use on one of their own number, if they can determine which of them will be scanned rather than outright killed. Oh look, the Two of Armadillos. No wait, I declared falsely. It was the Three of Armadillos. I suspect the spies may be able to lay false claims as well, either with confidence if they win the bidding, or as a bluff, if the kill the one who wins the bidding. Suppose they mislead us a third of the time through one of these strategies, allowing them to defend a teammate. Taken together, these cards spell misfortune for us. I see untrustworthy scans in your future. The amount they can be undermined makes the Signet mechanic no better than say two extra good guys. Meaning that three spies is a reasonable number to expect, since that is about a quarter of the group. Now for my final card… the UNO Reverse! We can reverse our misfortune, but only by acting quickly! We stand to be outnumbered within four days, if we fail to uncover anything. In my old age, 130, please stop yammering on about it, I forgot to factor in the secret voting mechanic. Slight village benefit, but not so much that an extra bad guy is reasonable. See I’ve got five cards in my hand now, and that’s more than you, so I win? Yeah, hear hear, society is meritocratic and the other boy was a weak freeloader who didn't deserve success! Now give me my money, I calculate that you owe me three of the big coins, and ten of the little ones. Plus interest for making me wait. I'm not getting any younger here

Do they teach you nothing in school these days? Back in my day, they taught civics properly, through rote memorization and repetition. You can't vote for someone who isn't a candidate, and since Mat is a pinch hitter, they're off the board. Kids are too distracted by their fancy water clocks to pay attention. You should pay more attention to me, my generation is infallible. Don't sass me, lassie. I don't make mistakes, I make cornbread. Pass me my glasses, so I can- Oh hello, mister! Where'd that girl go? Kids these days, always running off to play with their toys. I was just telling her that I am writing things in red to apply pressure. Pressure which I would never apologize for applying slightly wrong to the person I'm targeting. I like the gambling! I'd join in, but my pension payments stopped when I reached the age of 120. Anyone willing to trade their coins for some cornbread? Question for the group so I can add thirty words to this post: are we thinking there will be two elims or three? This concludes my question, thank you for reading it Quick edit: one is also a valid response to my question. As is four. Or five! Really, any number may be chosen. Some are just less likely than others. Such as one, four, and five.

Water trickled from his crotch. The anteaters used to be light once, Georg knew. They were indigenous, those anteaters. Before winter, they'd been light, now they were way too heavy to be scared off easily. Georg's hands quivered, then faltered, dropping his pitchfork. It was time to run. Editor’s note: nope, not doing that Hi sonnies, it’s me, Grandpa Georg! I’ll be hanging round here for a few days while I wait for some things on the farmstead to resolve themselves. I promise not to be a bother. I can probably help! I’m sure whatever you’re doing is easy peasy, let me at it. See, look at this here post. This gal is apologizing for no reason. Youth today are too easily cowed. Speaking of cows, if you ever want to clean the metal flakes and nails and pins out of yer heifer’s stomachs, you just need to stick a magnet in their feed. It collects all the bits as they digest it, then gets pooped out the other end! Ya just have to check yer patties afterwards for the magnets, or you’ll burn through a load of cash doing it. Anywho, strange comment, lassie! Stick That there is a very neutral statement! Take a stance, youngin', it'll make your chiropractor happy if you grow a spine.
