Mid-Range Game 65: Set on Infiltration
Archer replied to Experience's topic in Sanderson Elimination
How do you feel about this quote, Mat? I'm trying to decide if e!TK feels the need to claim the streak is untainted For the record, it was three days long, TKN just didn't survive to the end of it :P. I feel like the most vocal of the sides have been Aeoryi, TKN, Araris vs DeTess and I -

it's all coming together You seem to be Excellent distancing :P. Isn't it Aeoryi's first SE game too? Intentionally voting Araris over TKN? -

I've changed my mind, I don't see an elim saying that. Aeoryi I really liked Mat's Wiz vote. I feel like if Mat went with the overthinking option of not voting on one of the main sides of the list argument, they wouldn't be able to pull off a calm, cool, and collected naked vote. Therefore, Mat's village. I'll take the risk, because the alternative is me dying With regards to a Laby vote, I'm torn between class solidarity and the fact that Laby PMed me and I don't trust people who act too friendly. I'd self pres on them if it came to it, but doing so to feed my curiosity really undermines my personal defence. TKN -

At this point, e!DeTess + e!me are too connected for distancing to work I haven't done anything particularly wrong yet imo Say there's a role that can protect another player from the NK. It might stop a kill, it might not. Whereas a e!thug will stop a kill eventually (or the elims will win out right). So you've got two kill blocks in play, but one is less impactful. If it helps you read me, the GM called me out in the opening writeup and I've been on the defensive ever since. My job is to create a compelling alternative option to the shrug and shoot play, so I can't be passive Do you village read Aeoryi? Yeah, because I don't trust you :P. But I'll welcome any info you're willing to give me for free Absolutely shocked Labyrinth didn't confess immediately when asked if they were evil It's really not* *assuming C2 brings changes to the list You mean roles as in alignments, right? Do you have a special ability named after a feruchemical or allomantic power? I read it as Stick being suspicious on Aeoryi PMing so much C1, in the context of their stated intention to PM spider I've been reliably informed that the cycle ends tonight FYI -

This game has actions, good to know... I've been using Ae because I have trouble remembering how to spell your name. If you dislike it, I can stop The village could have extra lives, but they don't have to. Or say we compromise and give them a bodyguard who may produce kill blocking but isn't guaranteed to like a thug is. Getting back to fundamentals, do you believe that I'm evil? Never mind the list and the potential benefits of investigating it, what makes you passionate enough about this lead that you're voting when you normally wouldn't? Lack of other options wouldn't normally get you engaged Mental note that DeTess and Araris, TKN aren't e-e. If it came to it, I vote we test the theory by killing Lab instead of me. (I can't spell Labrinth either, sue me) -
Mid-Range Game 65: Set on Infiltration

I don't think it's a plausible theory. It requires the elim team being on and aware of their alignment before the game began. Not only is elims getting more time to prep than the village a rare mechanic, it's also vulnerable to a team that doesn't check their PMs earlier than they're supposed to messing it up. Ae and Stink aren't e-e, noted. The thug theory relies on 2 elims, aligning with the C1 alignment distro. So that's 3 lives, without the voting edge of having three elims. That works in an 11 player game. Parity isn't simple to reach, because there's only two of them. If we get all mixes, we're looking at 9:2 to 7:2 to 5:2 to 4:2 to lose, which is actually better for our chances than 8:3 to 6:3 to 4:3 to lose. And there's no reason the village needs to have thug roles as well. In a small game, repetition of roles isn't necessary. oh dear, my burning desire to be the first person to correctly 'guess' the answer to the mystery made me decide to out myself and give up a pivotal secret for temporary clout Or I'm just spitballing here, even if I know it's wrong. Take your pick I see where your coming from. I think the best counter argument to that is it's predictable that the C1 exe goes this way, so why would the GM put e!me in this position? If it blows up in their face, that's practically bastard GMing Traditionally, no. You can't vote for multiple people. Your vote is probably just on me right now, since GMs usually take the last vote listed. Edit: I get voting me, but why me AND Ae? I'm voting Ae, so why vote with me? -

We don't necessarily need a third party for a Merlin. The previous game had a Sequence, which was a member of the Suits. But their main ability was 1 on 1 anonymous communication with people, which makes it easy to reveal alignments if they know them. I remain concerned about the idea of thugs existing in a two elim distro. The only way that balances is with an e!thug. I suspect Aeoryi is a thug, since they think they're more likely to be present than vote manip. So my vote follows: Araris Aeoryi (why no 'u' in your name?) Independent of my knowledge of my alignment, I'd be curious about the possibility of a rotating elim team. The elims for the round are publicly declared, then it's on the players to notice the obvious before they lose. I'm also curious whether dead people will appear on the C2 list. -

Trying to figure out why you knew PM's are only 1 on 1, but didn't know you can't spider. It feels performative, as if you're asking social permission to do your scheme so people aren't frosty to you when you message them Is this a reaction to my post or you guessing based on general principles? SE meta tends to agree with Araris' stance here, if only because in your example, the village is okay with killing either of these options, and someone dies at the end of it, as expected. The elims can decide between two options the village hands them, they don't get an extra kill. With extra lives, someone doesn't die, entirely usurping the will of the village. I could see extra lives being in play to extend the length of the game, but I'd guess vote manip makes it in before thugs do. Can you confirm my guesses about what was subtracted? Docs, doc powers etc? Your theory is there's one hidden inf and two public ones? As much as I like the idea of a double bluff opening gambit from the GMs, I'd argue there's too much risk of someone saying 'hey, you made a mistake and posted my alignment,' ruining the balance. What's a Merlin? A type of fish, I believe -

Lorel's dead smh, you can't trust the word of someone who can't even survive C1 I am curious if that's the correct ratio though. 2/11 seems low. * I can't find the rules for this game's inspiration, LG63. Based on the master spreadsheet, I think how it went was players had: -A feruchemical/allomantic role: flavored gold ferring, copper ferring, thug, and nothing - evenly split. This has evolved. I have a role that isn't one of these. -A rank role: 1 Sequence, then 50/50 suits and arrays. Nope. -A subset: communications, legal, PR, research, and kidnapping. Possible there's no docs this game because I don't have one. Kinda disappointing if true People with the same subset shared docs. Docs got to use powers: vote movement/removal, communications, scanning, roleblocking etc. Suits got docs in which they could anonymously communicate with the Sequence. -An alignment: 3/17 ebi elims, 13/17 set villagers, and 1 traitor set, who is an elim with different flavor for some reason. Anyway, we're looking at a quarter ratio. None of this seems relevant, so why was it advertised as similar? * Araris is too easily swayed by the criminals, methinks -

Would have been useful if I hadn't DIED My condolences Imagine only getting one point smh. Should have gotten a flamingo I don't know where I got the flamingo Stuff just happens sometimes I am offend! even if it's true It was a struggle to get vote pairs in place, and y'all were quick to the draw to start cycles. Well played! Anyway, thanks for driving the clowncar, Fifth, JNV, and Mentor Araris. My only rule change suggestion would be to reverse the order of the mini games, making the more individual win ones later in the game. I'd also like to know how many points Wonko would have won for a victory in the second mini game. Spent a lot of time pondering that -

It's very stressful being a pinchitter when Wonko knows your alignment before you do smh (I appreciate the honesty about your wincon though!) Hm. So if we subscribe to the theory that whoever has the most victory points at the end of the full game will win, we can ignore all the mutually beneficial ways of getting points, since most people will be on a team with someone who has more points than them. And unfortunately this isn't enough points to push me past anyone else. Quidfarks. I don't see a way for me to beat Aman or Quinn here. Even if we get points for every capture, I don't think I can get enough to be in contention. So I guess I'm playing for a world where we just need to reach a certain amount of points to win.- 683 replies

I wanna say the obvious answer is Mat blocked the scan, but we know roles are duplicated and he just openly admitted that so it's a joik. I believe Quinn is a bologove too, they knew what it did, although they messed up their understanding of it a bit in our PM. And there's been no e!Bologove flip so their logic tracks that they couldn't have doc intel- 683 replies

Florple! I nearly forgot to get back on. Subterfuge be for not, @Quintessential, I left it too long to be able to coordinate the sneaky option. As a role ability, whoever Quinn and I vote for will die. If they're also exed, it's redundant, so please ensure a different wagon has more votes than our two. I'm tempted to string you along, but I'll make it easy and say yes, that was a typo of Borogove. Positive view of Quinn for claiming it too because it'd be better for e!them to stay quiet about it and exploit its power with a late move. You're playing a blackout rhyming game and you want clarity? :P. It's the last one Given the dynamics of the situation are intyllus, I'd actually be okay with being on the chopping block. Not sure how tight the POE is, but I'll put it out there that we should cover as many bases as possible since we're unlikely to lose. Worst case right now is just not winning, if that makes sense.- 683 replies

I'm the exact opposite, which puts us at a rapaplod of opinions I'm trying to decide if Drake protecting TKN makes sense because losing 2/3 of the elim team is bad, or if they'd distance and run out the clock. The upshot of a TKN survival and Stick death is it makes hitting their wincon more viable. But they wouldn't know about the other elim death coming that round, so that changes the calculation. Eh. Drake Queen Quinn Also my gm pm is full of information and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to say and what I'm not. But I do want to not lose this tap in so if there's stuff I should be claiming, let me know- 683 replies
