  1. After a few minutes, Lewis came to the conclusion that there was nothing unusual about the kitchen save for a singular lack of food. In the fridge he found some bread, a couple apples and a half-empty milk bottle. He wondered how the guy ate. Still, he kept looking, there may be something hidden in plain sight, and he planned on finding it if that was the case. There was a Big Ben postcard on the counter with nothing written in the back. The man probably planned to send it to his family or something. Not anymore. There were also marks on the table, like he used it for some work before, but it was impossible to make out anything from it. Aside from that and a mouse that ran to hide behind the sink, he found nothing else. He slumped on a chair, feeling defeated, he didn't know where else to look. Then he saw something. Through one of the doors he had left open he saw what looked like a piece of paper just sticking out of the wood under the sink. What kind of hiding spot was that? He tore apart the boards, he doubted anyone would be here to notice anyway, and saw what was beneath. It was only a letter, addressed to the late inhabitant of the house. Lewis didn't understand a thing. It talked about some hidden truth, challenging the man to uncover it. Whoever sent it, was trying to play with the man's curiosity and pride. Still, he found too many concepts he didn't understand to make sense of it. He was getting used to it. Lewis decided to leave the kitchen and show the letter to the others. Maybe Marcel, he seemed to know things about all of them, perhaps he would know something about what was in the letter.
  2. Important for the species? That wasn't possible. "I-I don't think so, I'm as normal as it gets. My family wasn't special or anything. Just your normal mom and dad." he said shooking his head and then added, sligthly more loudly. "I've lived as any other person up until now. Heck, I chose my job because of a childhood dream. I can't think of a single thing out of the ordinary since I can remember." Well, he could think of some, but they didn't have anything to do with him. He didn't have anything unusal. Not physical nor in his personality. Just your average guy trying to help. There had to be something else.
  3. Edwin didn't know where to go. There were specialized places where one could go when it came to sweets tables, but they would probably snap at him wherever he went for making such an unreasonable request on such short notice. Why were they planning this in half a day again? Sure enough, five places in a row asked him to leave using words that weren't exactly PG material. Plan B then. At the sixth place, he didn't ask for a sweets table, he only started picking up the sweets. Cupcakes, biscuits, chocolates and some other things he didn't know the name of. Since it wasn't designed to go everything on the same table, it wouldn't look too pretty but it would do. He got out of there with three big bags and in the way back he bought a few other, more conventional, things, you never know when someone will want something simple like a Snickers. All in all he spent in a single day more than he would usually spend in a month, therefore ensuring he would starve at school for the next three weeks or so. But hey, it was a special day. Finally he got to the house and opened the door with difficulty. "Do we have a free table?!" he asked as soon as he was inside.
  4. Ryan took a step forward. "Well then, study us already. If I'm affecting the universe somehow, I would like to know why too."
  5. Edwin thought about what else he could do. It was getting late so probably everything was just about finished. They had food, they had decorations, they were setting tables already. The couple wasn't there but it was about time... Wait a minute. There weren't any sweets! Leona would take care of the cake but it wasn't enough. "I'll be right back, guys." he said and darted to the front door without waiting for an answer.
  6. I still vote for horse lady or Laral. Something could happen with Tarah I guess. I can't see any kind of compatibility whatsoever between him and Jasnah, nothing that could turn romantic anyway. Lyn is too Bridge Four if you get what I mean. Some like Rock, Teft or Lopen, etc, are with Kaladin a lot but the rest live pretty much their own lives. Venli? I don't really see where an insterest could spark. Then again, we don't know a lot about her. Lift? Yeah right. And Rysn...? Alright, I'm holding back there until they meet.
  7. Ryan looked at their new surroundings, fairly dizzy from the travel. They were in a high place. Very high. It didn't help him feel any better. There was a skycrapper in his hometown. 40 stories tall, the tallest and most advanced in the continent. And it couldn't even begin to compare with where he was now. Still, the scent was familiar and that did help. He forced himself to pay attention to the conversation, it was important. His instinct told him to run and his curiosity told him to explore but for now he needed to listen.
  8. Lewis made his way to the kitchen. It wasn't big, nor did it have a lot in it. It certainly wasn't what you would expect from a family. So he lived alone. That was good. A family suddenly arriving while they were searching the house would be serious trouble. Now they needed to find clues, but what could be in the kitchen? Not the best place to make evil plans. He started opening drawers and searching shelves anyway, not sure what he was looking for.
  9. "No it's... it's alright." He wasn't expecting something like that. So was it a physical thing or a spiritual thing? Surely a spiritual thing hadn't healed him, right? But he didn't think that was the point. Whatever was behind it, it seemed to drive her forward, to give her purpose, so it probably couldn't be watered down to a thing that allows her do magic. She had a clear path before her. Life before death, huh? He was too late for that. "I'll check the kitchen." he said, glad to have something to distract him from that train of thought.
  10. Well, I was half joking there, since the community is split in half in that regard. I would personally prefer a redemption arc, even if it takes place after the timeskip but I'm fine either way. Brandon has given him too much attention for him to have an unsatisfying end. So yeah, I think I'll just trust the man as always.
  11. What about a redemption arc where Moash dies? That way everyone half wins.
  12. Lewis tried to think of something. Maybe Pushing the doorknob? But he didn't have an anchor and it would be really noisy. Kira said that she could be able to do something but. Stormlight? More new words. Click. Wita opened the door without effort. She had a key in her hand. "That'll teach me to overcomplicate things." he turned to Kira. "What is Stormlight by the way? Is that how you call lightning?"
  13. This one I think might not be that funny but for some reason it always makes me laugh. My software engineering teacher was talking about business and used restaurants as an example. Then she suddenly goes: "When two places sell the same thing, the sauce makes the difference." Since then "The sauce makes the difference" pops up in my head at random moments.
  14. I discovered this a few days ago and it took it about sixty seconds to become one of my favorite songs.
  15. Fate/Stay Night UBW: Monogatari Series: The Ancient Magus' Bride:
  16. "I think so." he gave the card back to Wita and started walking towards the house. "What dou you think we'll find there?" he asked the others.
  17. I think there's a difference between being true to your ideals and being downright foolish. Had Kaladin done something there, most likely nothing would have changed, save for his punishment being worse and probably him dying. When you know your efforts will most likely fail, living to fight another day is always the better option. Besides, Dalinar said it himself, change won't come if all you do is demand it, it may sound wrong but you have to earn it. He may be right and all but him rebelling at the arena, in the eyes of everyone present would have looked like a child throwing a tantrum. it's far more efective (and far more satisfying) when you play smart and take the time to prove them wrong instead of just yelling it at their faces.
  18. Ryan took a moment to grasp what was happening. The sun was going to explode? What could even measure to that? They were going to die right there! Without his family ever knowing what happened to him! . . . I have to calm down. . . . That was better. John, he tried to focus on John. He looked worried but he probably also knew what to do, he looked humble even. And he needed their help. "What do we need to do?" Ryan asked him.
  19. Like a discussion PM? Sounds fun!
  20. This is pretty much confirmed but I want to see more of Kaladin's parents. Their utter and absolute abscence in WoK and WoR made me automatically think they were dead until I remembered they were obviously not. Too many orphan protagonists I guess. On that note, Shallan's brothers and their reaction to their sister's lifestyle. That's bound to end in some family support, maybe a reality wall, which would be good to see. Humans and singers starting to blend in a "Wait, we don't have to be enemies." way. Maya and Adolin advancing on their bond but not quite reviving her yet. Lets save that for book five. More Radiants. It's the nature of the series to go slow but we have at least one of each now, I think. Time to know more about other orders' surges and Oaths. Rysn. (That's what I can think about for now, without turning the post into an essay.)
