  1. So while we're on the topic. Ever had pizza with beans?
  2. Currently trying to convince my brain that R2 is not the dodge button in Dark Souls.
  3. You only see the fin though I can't remember in Cephadrome's case, maybe he goes completely under the sand. You have to wait until they come out or fish them out. I think sonic bombs are the standard for that.
  4. Ilia got out of the elevator and looked at the piece of paper again. Room 17. That would be her new home. Rooms were shared and hers would probably be no exception. She took a deep breath when she got to the door and stopped a moment to prepare to meet her new roommate. She tried to open the door, it didn't move an inch. There was a small space next to the doorknob to swipe a card. "Oh, right." Ilia dug into her suitcase, looking for the ID they had sent her along with her acceptance letter. She unlocked the door and got in. The room looked nice. Judging by the number of doors inside there were individual bedrooms. The main room was empty save for some basic furniture. A table, two chairs, a couple shelves. Yeah, she could see herself living here. She also had been the second one to arrive. There was another girl with dark blue hair unpacking some things. "Uh, hi." she started. "I'm Ilia, I guess we're both in the same room?"
  5. I haven't hunted that one but in my very limited experience with piscine wyverns, I may just dislike them in general. Cephadrome is a significantly easier fight but annoying for the same reasons. That and the thing spending half the hunt under the sand. Though I have to thank him, he was the monster that made me try Insect Glaive. I was having a really hard time with long sword, some people suggested a weapon that gave you more height, Aerial IG seemed obvious and the hunt became a walk in the park.
  6. I guess I have. Now, celebrating it is another story. TPBM as killed a character.
  7. The guy is huge, but clearly not as big as his invisible hitboxes. And apparently they were nerfed quite a bit, I shudder to think what this fight was like in FU. Best/worst part is that the game is fully aware of the fame he has and happily warns you that his hip attack is annoying. Well it is, and the tail spin doesn't fall behind either. I'm upgrading for now, clearly my LR Astalos armor has its days counted. I'll need some actual HR armor if I don't want this guy to take 2/3 of my life with each hipcheck. Farming Barroths right now.
  8. Ilia dragged her baggage out of the bus, the wheels were a blessing but they didn't make it any less awkward to move around. Once she was on the sidewalk she gave a quick thanks to the driver and turned to open the small cage she had tied on top of her suitcase, letting Pinky out. The small mouse flied around frantically, clearly sick of being inside such a small space. Ilia didn't like having to lock him up for so long, but there was no way he could keep up with the bus. At least he was out now. She was then free to focus on the place she had just arrived to. Greatowl University, at last. That failed entrance exam, and in consequence a year of self-study after graduation had been worth it, she was finally here. Her dad had wanted to drive her here, but she wanted to take this first step into the world on her own, and it felt good. She enjoyed the moment and started walking toward the school. "Let's see, what was it?" she unfolded the piece of paper where she had made some notes "Silk Hall? Alright. Now where is that?" she probably should have looked for a map of some sort, she had clearly underestimated the size of this place. After entering the wrong dorm twice, one of them a boys dorm which earned her a scolding, Ilia finally got to Silk Hall. She made a mental note of how to get to the place. Her dorm was virtually identical to the rest but she was bound to learn which one it was if she went in and out of it enough times, hopefully. It was honestly a really nice place, the bottom floor looked like some kind of community area, for students to hang out. There was also a kitchen there. Hopefully her practice would be enough for her not to miss her parents' cooking too much. She finally was faced with a choice, going up by the stairs or the elevator. Her mom always said you should leave elevators alone in case someone who actually needs them shows up, but... "I'm sorry, mom. You could say I need it." She wasn't dragging the suitcase through the stairs.
  9. So I'd like to join the club of people who hate Plesioth please.
  10. I second Let the Right One In, it's great. The original Poltergeist is more on the fun side, it has comedy even, but still really good. Haven't watched this one in a really long time so I might be rose-tinting it but I remember liking The Village as a kid. I don't think it's horror though. Ju-On is great if you don't mind a different language. Though it might be dubbed, I don't actually know. While we're on the subject of Japanese horror Audition is good, though really slow. Also don't know how far you're willing to go on gore but there's a scene that's extremely non-graphical, everything happens off-screen, but it still manages to be really hard to watch. The Fatal Frame movie wasn't too bad either, if you can find it.
  11. Hoshikuzu by FictionJunction and/or Catch the Moment by LiSA. And a few dozen more. What's your ideal school day?
  12. Randy walked through the halls and stairs. Everything was in a state of disarray, people running around, making calls. There was a lot of noise coming from a series of pipes running along the ceiling. There would be small cylinders traveling inside at great speed, each one containing a report, or an important document. Not a single conference room was unoccupied, and the tension seemed to be growing. Foot soldiers and pilots alike were coming in and out. Randy was just one more in the crowd, which served him just fine. Hopefully he'd manage to do what he came to do and get out without anyone asking questions. That way he'd only get in trouble for leaving his assignment, which was still really bad, but more manageable. He went up, to the less crowded floors. Most of the action was happening on the ground floor. It was more likely for a spy to go up there. As he was climbing through the stairs he heard a thunderous noise shake the fortress, like something big had hit the outer wall. After that first hit the noise didn't stop. The rush downstairs turned into utter chaos, orders were shouted, soldiers were moving. Non-fighters were still doing their job for the most part but some were breaking down in fear. They were probably trained for this but hadn't actually lived through an attack. Randy had, unfortunately. And so before he had time to make a choice he was moving back downstairs, to help. It felt hypocritical of him, leaving his post like it was nothing but rushing to help when people were at risk of getting hurt in front of him. Things wouldn't be so easy however. Halfway through the stairs he felt the ground starting to shake, and he clung to the railing in surprise. There was no way his plane would be able to take off like that. Whatever help he may provide would have to be on land. And so, he decided to keep going up, to the roof, so he could take a look and see exactly what they were facing.
  13. Finished xxxHolic. I, am in a bit of a shock right now. It took finishing the thing for me to realize I had already read the ending long ago and had simply been graced with 3-4 volumes worth of epilogue. So I had effectively read a bittersweet ending and was prolonging my suffering by watching it turn into a downright depressing ending. It's abrupt and unsatisfying really. An utterly beautiful journey that led nowhere near where I expected it to and was cut short before it got to any discernable destination. Now, do I regret it? Not in the slightest. These are characters that I've come to love and it's nice to see them move forward. Really it was a single character that got the short end of the stick but, I should stop. The story itself was good. Exactly my kind of story, this is a very specific kind of urban/supernatural fantasy that I often look for but rarely find. Folklore tales are real, there's a spiritual world, supernatural afflictions and possessions are often rooted in the possessed's own vices (hence the name, Holic), and it doesn't revolve around physically fighting the things, though it doesn't shy away from it on occasion. There's action but it's not the focus, there's romance but it's not the focus. The focus is a mix of daily life and learning about both spirit and human nature and I just live for that kind of thing. The story also has a really strong focus on the nothing is a coincidence philosophy, and you know, as common as that thing is, this may be the first story to make me begin to believe it. "There is no such thing as coincidence in this world. There is only hitsuzen" has been ingrained in my mind as one of the most memorable quotes ever, as has been most of what Yuuko said because she's a walking quote machine. Also even if it did have a weird ending, there is a glimmer of hope. Apparently the sequel explores a way that could turn the story around. As if the entirety of the original manga was meant to end as unsatisfyingly as it did. Don't know if it's true as I haven't read it yet but I'll cling to anything I can here. It's also been left on hiatus for 7 years which CLAMP is known to do but apparently they just announced they'll end that hiatus next year. I'd be surprised at this amazing coincidence but if the series taught me something is that there's no such thing.
  14. Eluviani had found a river. Nothing too big but there were fish in it, which was the reason he had set out in the first place. It also had come at a good time since Eluviani was bleeding. He had gotten careless after the incident with his supplies, that's all it took for him to slip down a slope full of fallen leaves. Footing was hard, and the leaves made it slippery. It hadn't been too bad, but he had managed to twist his ankle during the fall. He could walk, but now he was slow. That was not to mention all the bruises and small cuts he had gotten from the branches and rocks. This was just a silly mistake, honestly. A couple days of rest and he'd be good as new. If only it hadn't happened now of all times. Now that he was at the river he did his best to at least wash himself, clean the wounds so they wouldn't infect. He didn't have medicine of any kind, but at least it was something. Nothing he could do about his ankle though. He would be limping for, what, a couple days at least? "I don't know, I'm no doctor." he said in frustration as he scrubbed. This is what he had managed. Food had been delivered to him on a silver platter and he had given it away. He hadn't even been attacked and he still had managed to hurt himself. The projection on the sky was a reminder as he shivered, his clothes still wet, and he looked for a good place to fall asleep. The games would end sooner or later, and it would be his turn to become the sound of a cannon shot if he didn't do something. Was he willing to just wait and hope for the best? Or was it time he started doing something for himself? Was he willing to kill in order to get out? Maybe he was after all. Maybe the time to choose wouldn't come until the end, but maybe it would be tomorrow. He hoped by then he'd be ready. That whatever he chose, he'd have no regrets.
  15. As someone who has eaten crickets, I have no reason to believe that pizza tastes bad.
  16. Oh right, the manga. I'll check that out before a re-watch then. It will be nice to have a better understanding of the story so I can know what the visuals represent instead of just looking at them.
  17. Watched Children of the Sea tonight. I think the word to describe it would be "Beautiful". It's a shame this movie was created by means of uh, let's call them poor management practices, but saying the result is impressive would feel insulting because of how much of an understatement it would be. This is absolutely mesmerizing to look at. The lines, the colors, the fluidity, the light. I can't even begin to imagine how one comes up with a way to put this on a screen. The soundtrack does its job too well. It's beautiful, and calming, and claustrophobic. When appropriate it's terrifying. It complements the animation so well, it's like I just came back from a trip to abyssal waters. The story, not gonna lie, this is gonna take a few rewatches. I thought I was seeing a story about water-dwelling humans, but then at some point it got cosmic horror on me and I couldn't tell you what the last third of the movie was about. Still, I'll rewatch it as many times as necessary, it will be a joy to go through this journey again anyway.
  18. Why is the sun so popular? I get it, in my head it looks bright, colorful, and happy too. But once I actually see it I just feel hot and unmotivated and tired.

Right now it's cloudy and windy outside my window, could start raining any minute. Now I feel motivated to do homework, perhaps write a bit. Take a walk, why not.

I just don't know what about being sweaty and sticky seems to bring so much joy to everyone.

    1. Robin Sedai

      Robin Sedai

      Agreed. I hate hot weather.

    2. Slowswift

      Slowswift

      I could not agree more.

  19. Nice, no outlandish ingredients that cost a kidney. I hate it when a recipe uses "ingredients you have at home" and then they ask for like, half a bottle of chocolate liquor or something.
  20. There's such a thing as zucchini bread? I'd forgive zucchini for tasting like it does if its bread is good.
  21. Honestly, yeah. From all the veggies that could become stereotypically hated, I have no clue how broccoli was the chosen one. Now zucchini on the other hand, that is the devil's food.
  22. I feel like I shouldn't show you my browser. TPBM has a 3 digit number of open tabs.
