Also only just read that but the MEE would also enjoy the mall, or I suppose the university? That would be a pretty big draw of attention, medical supplies, knowledge, technology.

Just some off-the-cuff thoughts of other visual cues Everything seems to be underwater, gravity seems lessened, harder to see things in the distance, etc. (Still perfectly breathable) Surfaces seem to become reflective to various degrees and, regardless of how things are angled always seem to be reflecting the viewer. Weird little glowing mushrooms that shoot spores up and if you get caught in the spores you experience one of the effects from the Epic Will-O-Wisps and if you follow one you get exposed to the effects Not a physical phenomenon so much but kind of a localized tunnel vision, so anything that you're looking at directly seems bright, vivid and realistic, but everything in your peripheral seems murky and indistinct. Patches of darkness Fading of colour Non-mist related weather effect (Rain, snow, cloudy, lightning, windy) which is not accompanied by any normal sensory effect, so you can see the rain but not hear or feel it. Something non-visual like whispered voices, white noise, strange scents, ghostly touches.

If we're going with a few factions then I'd say they'd probably each have a base of operations, a suburb that's indisputably theirs, and then they regularly engage in turf wars/salvage missions in order to secure whatever resources aren't available in their suburb. The city center is probably going to be largely demolished, I'd say it's too obvious a target for territory disputes for it to last long. I really like the memory thing too, my justification was going to be a subconscious-manifestation Epic essentially, building off your idea that their power is tied to their dreams. Time dilation is very often observed in dreams where you feel like you live a whole lifetime in a single night, or you feel like over the 8 hours of sleep you only had one small dream. Also ties into memory loss as is the nature of dreams. And maybe a few other weird artifacts that happen from time to time. (eg. When the Epic is having nightmares we get Mistwraiths, nothing too substantial or damaging but just creepy and canon fodder if we need it.)

Could tie it in with Make sure we investigate what happens both as it increases and decreases.

Ah, this reminds me of the good old days, don't check the questions thread for a day and then you have several pages of reading to catch up on On Maples as a term: Definitely agree that this should be something that was brought in from someone in Oregon. Let's blame Nighthound so people in the new setting have at least some reason to hate him as well. (Beyond the innate feeling that everyone is born with that makes them hate someone called Nighthound, regardless of whether or not they know who that is) I'm in favour of a decentralized ruling power as well. Possibly I'm biased because I want to reintroduce the Minor Epic Empire as one of the smaller governing bodies as an outlet for my renewed Epic creation. Love the mist idea, just a thought to potentially build on it, could we tie the time-manipulation into it? Because I really like the idea of pockets of altered time being available so that we can justify certain things but them being deliberately and permanently set up does create some problems. So I'm thinking there are a few different types of mist, some that cause time acceleration, some time deceleration, some forgetfulness/some other thing. Then when we have a few people who are very active and RP several hours/days worth of in-game time, and then someone comes back after a few days absence we can kind of handwave it to a degree with some justification of the mists doing it.

Well if we want to do a crossover of the two systems there's a few topics of interest that come to mind: The effects of using a highly filled unkeyed metalmind as a spike The effects of a piece of metal having a hemalurgic charge on the amount of feruchemical charge that can be stored in it. The effects of hemalurgically strengthening your feruchemical abilities and what changes

A small rock watched from the stands. Unsure if it was supposed to cheer or something for its squire. It then remembered that rocks are incapable of performing a cheer routine and began musing over where the best bind points for stealing such an ability would be.

Would their be any interest in starting a shared research project with the DA? We do have a non-hemalurgic research division that people seem to keep forgetting about*. *Note to self: Stop spiking peoples memories of the non-hemalurgic research division out.

Placeholder for when I've finished characters. Also pinned the topic. Epics (Those who are from Oregon may not be fully up to date) Scribbler: (Fully corrupted) Impact: MV: (Redeemed) PPPPP (Going to be taking a major backseat here in all likelihood, likely not actively RP'd at all but is around if people want justification for Epic tech) Neverthere: New Epics Magmaw Iva (Rarely corrupted) Maples Alexia Gardener (Lexi) Jed Hierick Minor Epics / MEC

teravangion [OB] Let’s talk about Teravangion high intellect days
Voidus replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is indeed so, as confirmed both by Brandon (To a degree) and Taravangian himself. Or at least the part about being more compassionate when he's duller. Not sure if I'd agree that the compassion was the capacity though, the intelligence was definitely at a supernatural level wheras we haven't seen the compassionate equivalent of the Diagram so I'd say high intelligence, low compassion was the fulfillment of his request. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/107-orem-signing-2014/#e1376 -
Well I have PP from last campaign and I've been considering having another version of my original plan for that character come up, I think having Epic-tech available is probably fine as long as it's not overwhelming. Might actually be an interesting motivation for characters to fight over the handful of Epic tech that exists in the city.
-
I like the time dilation idea as a means of separating the city out, but that seems to be more of a utility Epic to me rather than one capable of single-handedly controlling a city without major rivals. I would suggest just have the city controlled by a handful of groups, Epoch leading one of them and kind of hiring his powers out to the other factions when they want their use. Alternative city backstory / backstory for another city if we branch out: One prominent Epic in the city is a web-user, similar to spiderman but capable of creating webs remotely and of a much larger scale. The city buildings are connected at higher stories by large silk pathways, some lone threads hang off of other buildings. Major roadways are blocked off entirely to inhibit travel, and some houses are completely enmeshed in webbing, doors and windows sealed off and their inhabitants trapped inside. And now that I've started planning for cities I'm going to spend the next few hours creating a binder full of city ideas.

Not enough pugs in this name, otherwise 10/10 would upvote again Yeah not sure I'd have enough time for the Wastelands either tbh. If there was enough interest I'd probably give it a try but I'd be worried about burning myself out. Because she's OP? I think she's fine, having OP characters can be good, as long as the writer doesn't try to derail the entire narrative with them.
-
Probably, although we do have Edge, Winter and I so that's a fairly large amount of the Wastelands player if everyone wanted to bring that back.
-
Hard to do in a collaborative rp where we don't necessarily know all the outcomes up front. Same reason we tended to avoid Precog Epics last game beyond having dangersense.
-
Same thread would be easier I'd say, not much point separating Maples and Epics from each other.
-
I can guarantee that by the time the day is done I'll have at least another 40
-
Just a suggestion, if people would get more use out of a new thread then I'm all for it.
-
I think using the old thread is probably fine, saves anyone who wants to bring an old character in from needing to rewrite the profile
-
Iva would be in a permanent semi-corrupted state purely due to lack of opportunity to actually use his powers. Unless Epics frequently directly target him he can't really use it. So not really putting an active effort into avoiding his powers, just kind of stuck not using them for long lengths of time by coincidence.
-
Congratulations FB! I'll have to go and source another set of conjoined spikes.
-
And another character idea. Meta Epic so probably not likely to work in RP but just had the thought and my character creation compulsion is slowly taking hold of me again.
-
PIs and teleportation I agree with (Specifically I'd say no teleportation that can be instantly and endlessly used, either limit number of uses, or limit time to activate), but instakill abilities I'm in favor of. I mean plenty of abilities are essentially instakill anyway, at least with one that's literally just 'things die' you could put a limit that Epics are immune to it, or take longer to affect.

Yes I can see you've met the requirements and fulfilled them.
