I know already, that's why I'm going to regret Edgedancer and parts of Oathbringer onwards. I don't know how anyone could find a teen who insists she's 10 for superstitious reasons, go on about being hungry (understandable considering her circumstances but annoying) and all but harass her poor spren, in anyway appealing to read? Brandon I guess. The only thing I really liked about her interlude was Nale going after her, even though he's pretty much a 'villain' at this point. Shows how much I preferred him over her, and I was spooked by his appearance in that one earlier interlude where he killed that old man.

Eurovision Song Contest 2018

Yeah, to me it doesn't matter who wins since the contest is about having fun, though I would rather everyone have at least one win under their belt. Kind of sad that over 60 years and not every country has won (makes me think of Hunger Games with the quarter quell where every district had to have a win for both boys and girls) Bias is okay since you guys do tend to make great music. All hail Scandinavia eh? I so agree on the Israel one. The song was annoying, loud and not that good. Even worse is that despite so many countries voting for them and getting the popular vote no one really wants Eurovision in Israel (boycotts for withdrawing in Sweden, Ireland, UK and Iceland). Guess they should've thought of that before giving Israel all those 12's and 10's. It was. Despite only having it here for three years I've only watched two (missed last year's because my mom made me come into work on that Saturday ) but I'll continue watching every year, even if I have to DVR it. I can also sum up the three winners as well: 2016 Ukraine won through the power of tragedy, 2017 Portugal won with the power of love, 2018 Israel won with the power of clucking/chicken dance. -

Sorry it took a while to reply. I wanted to watch the final before replying back. Pretty much her point is that Sweden's won 6 times while a bunch haven't won at all and would rather see everyone get a chance to win. It's not just a Sweden thing, she thinks Ireland and U.K. shouldn't win anytime soon since they've won more than you guys. Anyway here's my thoughts on the final -

Book haul!!! I went in looking for Power Rangers Volume 5 and got more than I was thinking. I grabbed two new Doctor Who books I didn't know were coming. The first is The Day She Saved The Doctor which is about 4 times the Doctor was saved by his companions. The companions are Sarah Jane, Rose Tyler, Clara Oswald and Bill Potts. The second is The Missy Chronicles (oh Missy you're so fine you blow my mind, hey Missy, hey Missy!) featuring 6 stories starring everyone's favourite Time Lady. Was checking out the discount shelves and found Star Wars Lost Stars for $6 and thought 'why not?' My final purchase isn't a book but a DVD. I had noticed some MST3K DVDs and decided to grab one. I did the 25th Anniversary Edition (aka Volume 28) since it had 6 movies for $40 before discounts. The movies/episodes are Moon Zero Two, The Day The Earth Froze, The Leech Woman, Gorgo and as a bonus 'double feature' Mitchell and The Brain That Wouldn't Die. -
@Archer I do see your point and I'm someone who is about treating people equally (if someone is giving me a bad attitude I don't care what their gender, sex, skin color, faith, etc is, I'll call them out on it. Once there was this one gal who would have me do all her work for her when I went to her campus to help. I had finally had enough of it and threw her words back at her. Since I was higher on the totem pole I could call her out without serious trouble since what she was doing would be if I kept pushing my work onto the superintendent. She was surprised that I could get mean if I wanted since I'm a nice person who doesn't really cuss or complain but when I'm pushed too far I will give it out to show 'don't mess with me' if you get my meaning). Anyway for a little better context on this situation, it probably wouldn't have made a difference if this was a little girl, like 5 or 6, but this was a teenage girl around 15 who really could've hurt the airline people, or even other passengers, with her tantrum. The mom even said something about not taking her out to restaurants for this very reason, not against keeping 'undesirables' out of the public eye, but when you have a child who acts a certain way in a certain situation you try your best to minimize the damage they do to others not encourage it to the point they get kicked out. The mom knows her daughter gets violent when she's hungry so why not give her a snack or something until she can get the meal the airline would pass out in a short time? I worked with someone who had a son with mental problems, I don't know what he had, and he would get pretty violent like this girl was. When he got into one of his violent moments he would hurt his dad pretty bad and he nearly got me once when I was listening to some bagpipe music on my phone. The mom, the one who worked at my job, wouldn't do anything to stop his violence and would treat him like a baby having a little tantrum. Sometimes he would act out when in public, but usually it came out in a 'he's being a brat' way. Once when they joined me and my mom at a staycation the mom had burned her hand on a hot plate at the buffet and he kept pestering her to get him more food (he kept doing this thing of loading up the plate, take one bite and discard the plate) while the first aid person was right there treating his mom and he wasn't locked in so he could get out of his seat like he'd been doing before to get more food (also he'd already gone through about a dozen plates by this point). He also got banned from the indoor water park because he tried to attack one of the lifeguards. Also he had joined me for this one game the resort has and he kept trying to break stuff to the point I was afraid of getting in trouble by association if someone from the resort reported him for vandalism (I was probably 25 at this point so I was the responsible adult watching this teen). A few years I had seen him and he had mellowed out from what I could tell since he didn't behave like he did during his 'calm' moments. To really show how terrible he was my mom is pretty lenient to people with mental handicaps but she didn't let this kid get any of that and would actually call him out on it.

The whole 'they sound like they're speaking with a potato in their mouths' is something I learned from the Scandinavia and the World comics. And with them either not making finals or just losing they either need to up their game or hope everyone else sucks. You know my gf hopes the same and also hopes Sweden doesn't win again anytime soon because of how many times you guys have won and there being so many who haven't and would rather see every country get a chance to host. Guess we need to check what the rules say on that one. -
You know a while back I had watched a video about a autistic girl who was kicked off an airplane for becoming hostile because she didn't get fed when it wasn't time for the food to be given out (it was like 20 minutes after departure) and the mom was even proud of the fact her daughter gets hostile when she's not fed fast enough. Some of the comments get a bit on the ridiculous side like 'So hungry kids shouldn't get fed?' 'You saying all mentally handicapped people are dangerous?' to the legit stuff like 'they keep a kid who was screaming for 20 hours on but kick her off?' but seeing the situation from the view of the airline I can see their point if they were told 'we've got a child getting extremely hostile because we aren't bringing their food out fast enough' and if the mom knew her daughter gets that way when she's hungry why didn't she pack some snacks or something to help her daughter cope until the stewardesses brought her something? It's one thing to cope with a mental illness but it's another to do nothing and let the person be uncivilized. I'm not trying to be negative about this but the way the comments are going is a bit of a double standard since the majority are excusing her behavior because of her illness but if a kid without it behaved the exact same way they'd be calling the kid a hellion or a spoiled brat who was never taught how to behave in public.

Now that's shocking :0 (I know about the stereotype of Swedes and Danes not getting along) I was surprised when none of the Nords made it two years ago, not counting Sweden for obvious reasons. I do kind of wish Iceland would win just so that all 5 Nords can say they've won. You know I've wondered how the judging in the semifinals would go if one of the big 5 was the winner since the big 5 and the winner are the judges. Would he winner judge for both semifinals? -

Can't wait for Saturday to arrive. I missed last year's show, but did catch the tail end to see Portugal win, so this should be my second full show. Also China's broadcasting rights were revoked after they censored the first semi-final by editing Albania for tattoos and skipping Ireland for the performers doing something homosexual in nature or something that triggered China's homophobia. There were other things cut or blurred that involved LGBT and the rainbow flag so I'm glad the EBU didn't take this sitting down. Not sure who I want to see win but I'm surprised that Denmark made it. That was the only song I listened to, my girlfriend lives there, and I didn't care for it that much so I'm surprised. -
Not my favorite Sanderson cover but still a lot better than most covers out there. It'd be pretty funny if this was far in the future of Alcatraz Earth instead of Perfect State or Firstborn

I now own my second MST3K set, first of the actual episodes though. This is the Singles Collection containing the films: The Crawling Hand, The Hellcats, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Eegah and I Accuse My Parents along with Shorts Vol 3, which were serial films used when a film wasn't long enough to fill the time slot. Mostly this set is a reprint but the originals were singlely packaged by Rhino over 2 decades ago so it's easier to get these. -
@Tesh you know, sometimes the way my mom goes on about it when she mentions it it feels like she wants to have a disabled child and since she couldn't do that with my sister, she's way more outspoken than me, she settled on it with me. Heck some of the common symptoms could apply but I've had circumstances that led to it. Not being social? I was bullied quite a bit in school which led to having low self-esteem and not being social. 'Obsessed' with stuff? I'm a nerd who's liked that stuff since I was a kid. A 'loner' who doesn't identify with people? I'm just a book reader who identifies with a character better than a celebrity, and I didn't hang with kids my own age a lot so my 'friends' were in movies and books. Smart and weird? My family's weird in general so no surprise there. I don't really know how to help with your problem since I have a hard enough time trying to explain things to my mom like transgender (I even used the 'how would you feel if everyone kept calling you a man?' argument to no avail) and accepting other races (she uses the various derogatory names for black folks and calls all Asian people oriental and I'm afraid of what she might call my girlfriend if she ever visited since she's middle eastern in decent) in a way that makes sense to her. Trust me when I say some people just don't get concepts like these no matter how much one tries to explain it.

My parents seem to think I have one (autism) just because I don't think exactly like they do (they already think differently from everyone else so that's not saying much). When I've looked the different ones up I always found one or two symptoms that match me but that's not enough to be considered having it, even a minor case, and those tended to be more me being a nerd and an introvert. Heck neither of them even mentioned me having any until I was well into high school and yet they claim they tested me as a kid so you'd think they'd do stuff to 'correct' it. Also one of those 'symptoms' I saw doesn't apply anymore because it was a speech impediment but it turned out not to be the case because I had too much connecting flesh under my tongue that kept the tip from making the th sounds properly. Once I got that fixed I suddenly didn't need speech therapy anymore. When looking them up I think (this is speculation on my part) my mom has a mild case of Asperger's since she's always making people out as meaner or ruder than they are. I also think she has a mild case of OCD when vacations and work are concerned. When the state testing has to be shipped off she just has to check the numbers a good half a dozen times (this does not include me counting a couple times and the testing coordinator counting), sometimes opening the box back up after taping it shut. I might be misinterpreting it as OCD though so do correct me if I'm wrong. But sometimes I feel like my parents are trying to do Munchausen Syndrome by proxy, especially my mom, because they'll tell people I have something but when alone they don't exactly treat me like someone with a mental disorder at all. Heck my mom's trying to get exempt from jury duty and is trying to use the 'I have a disabled adult son who can't drive to work alone' card (not only can I drive, I also have my own car) and the other day even suggested, 'jokingly' she said, that I pretend to have Tourette's! My dad even encouraged it! Do you know how insulting that felt? The only real mental symptom I can say I have is migraines (which my sister also gets) and I don't know if that counts under the definition everyone is using here.

Getting vacation booked for Christmas (work is messed up this year and the conferences my mom goes to are on different dates that interfere with vacation plans for November) and it's going to be a Disney Cruise along with Disney World. On less great news I helped my dad install a new fan and I don't know what I did but my left foot hurts so much it's painful to walk (I think it has to do with the installation since my foot started hurting the next day after wearing just socks when on the ladder) -

Wonder if they have anyone who's read all 100+ (counting series as 1 book is stupid) books? One book I wished I hadn't read on that list was To Kill a Mockingbird. Had to read it for school a few years back and hated it. At least Pride & Prejudice wasn't on that list since I only read the first 2 or 3 chapters because it was that dull for me. One series I'm surprised didn't make the list was Little House by Laura Ingalls Wilder, I'd take that over Twilight and Fifty Shades of Abuse any day. -
What YouTube Channels do you watch?
Draginon replied to GeneralHZRD's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Ones I like are: The Game Theorists, Film Theorists, GTLive (basically the same channel split across three) Rosanna Pansino Markiplier JackSepticEye PattyCakeProductions (they do unexpected musicals like Cinderswift and Beauty and the Bieber A Clockwork Reader has some good book reviews TheDom is pretty funny with his Lost in Adaptation videos I also watch some ASMR channels but one I particularly like is Goodnight Moon and her Babblebrook series I also like TheGamerJoint but I'm doing a hiatus from him to avoid spoilers for Kingdom Hearts 3 (I know prerelease stuff isn't a 'spoiler' but I'd rather be surprised by what worlds will appear, especially with how Square spoils so much in the trailers these days (such as revealing Aqua becoming a master in the trailers for Birth By Sleep and all but spoiling the ending of Dream Drop Distance) though Birth By Sleep 0.2 was in an awkward position of being about 3 hours and 358/2 Days mostly having N64 style graphics so there was only a handful of PS2 level graphics they could show without spoiling stuff) Im subscribed to some others but I don't watch them as much. -

Haven't read it myself but I'm not all that interested to read it, especially after watching TheDom's review of the book since the main character isn't the type of hero I like to read about. Also took their 'quiz' and out of the 100 I got 18. I included ones I own but haven't yet read, like ASOIAF, but since some are series my count is actually higher, like WOT should count as 15 but because they do it as a series it's just 1. I even included a couple that I want to read in that number as well, like Rebecca, so I kind of fudged my numbers -

The Great American Read by PBS announced their 2018 list and Brandon kind of made the list. Wheel of Time made the list but none of his own books did while stories like Fifty Shades and Twilight made it. What slontze wrote this list??? In other news I was helping my mom drop some boxes off at UPS and saw a store named, get this, Ati Physical Therapy. Guess Ruin is a doctor in Texas -
