  1. That does bring up a good question since everyone calls the Kandra Faceless Immortal and what they'd assume if they met something similar, to their eyes, to a Kandra. If it is a Svrakiss, I don't know if they are meant to be a real thing or just a scapegoat for the Dereth religion so that's something to watch for in the sequels, then that would mean Autonomy has control of Sel by this point, or at least the Fjorden empire.
  2. Thanks. It's got to be a pain to look through all the WOB just to find the relevant one. You know I just finished BOM and had posted my thoughts in the What Are You Reading thread and had a thought there on the red eyed men. If they're Kandra how did Harmony not realize there's some rogues and yet he knew instantly when Paalm went rogue. It almost makes you wonder if Trell can make Kandra and if so then that means Trell has access to hemalurgy and if Trell is Autonomy then things are worse than we think.
  3. Finished The Bands of Mourning. Here are my thoughts: Next read is Calamity. Can finally put Reckoners behind me!
  4. @Calderis Process of elimination on the ones we know. Imagine if Trell was actually one of the remaining 6 unknowns, unless it's already been confirmed that Trell is one we know of.
  5. I kind of mean that he uses up Investiture as energy (Breaths and Stormlight for instance) and Shards are in a sense a source of Investiture without having the limits of the Investiture regular people use, or in other words an electric eater going for a power plant versus a piece of technology using electricity.
  6. It also makes you wonder what an old Kandra would be like. Would they physically look the same in their natural state or would it be more them taking longer/finding it harder to shapeshift? The only way we can know for sure is if TenSoon shows up in the later Eras since he's our best reference.
  7. You know I wonder what would happen if a Shard unsheathed Nightblood. Would they be an infinite 'battery' or would he eventually kill them?
  8. I think when it's said to be 'lost' the mechanics behind it is more that you're using more energy than you should be to work the effects, similar to the legend of the negative calories of celery.
  9. Not as bad as what most would say but here's my bad day: My car is acting up. It was fine this morning and when my mom used it when coming from the office next door (she doesn't like to walk the 15 feet it takes to go over) but when I was getting it started when leaving it wouldn't turn on. It just kept clicking. Luckily one of our coworkers was still there and he jumpstarted the battery and it turned on so we're thinking the battery lost its charge somehow. My mom wanted to get it to the dealership where I get it serviced to see if they could take it in for service but it was half an hour before it closed and it takes that long to drive there from work. There's also traffic on the freeway that delayed me from getting there but my mom sure wasn't subtle on thinking I was to blame. What does she expect me to do when everyone is going 50 in a 70 area? Also once I got past where that holdup always is I actually was speeding to try making her deadline of getting there in time to no avail. Others things at work is making working there a nightmare: We have to deliver stuff to the different campuses but they don't want us delivering that stuff because "a food truck might need to get in and your blocking the entrance" but they aren't saying that to anyone else, but on top of that they don't want our campus person to come to us to pick up the materials so the only possible time to deliver curriculum is after work on our own time and hoping the campus is still open and the alarms not set. They were also getting on my mom for 'lollygagging talking to teachers' but the times she's talking is when teachers stop her to ask curriculum related questions, but since sound isn't recorded on the 'big brother' cameras that's what they assume (oddly they claim there's microphones to capture sound so you can't even do any complaining so them not even knowing what the conversation makes that suspect). Also yesterday we were making a delivery at the closest campus and a teacher let us know they didn't have some stuff in their teacher materials so we had to go back to the office to look if we had it. A couple people in the office asked if we could pick them up some lunch for them since we were coming back anyway so we did. Shortly after delivering their lunches an email went out about not leaving campuses to grab lunch or if you're going to be at a campus for lunch to not leave to get something, which with the timing is pretty suspicious. It's like they don't want the employees to eat at all since people do forget to pack lunches and others will steal others food (once someone stole my PB&J sandwich to feed their kid. Now that's a new low to teach your child it's okay to steal a coworkers food) so what are you supposed to do in these cases? One thing they do that doesn't make sense to me (not a bad day thing but I'm on a roll here). The campuses keep complaining about not having enough classrooms for all the students they have. I've been to those campuses so much that I can say that space is one thing they aren't lacking. (Will be using different names for the campuses here), South does PreK-8 and last I counted they have 6-12 rooms not being used for classes, some are being used as 'storage', 3 are being used for an after school program that isn't even there all day and one is being used as a 'meeting room'. North is doing renovations so they really are strapped but they've got more rooms this year than they did last year before the renovations started. East is our high school with a main building, a gym building and the building where the cafeteria is. All the rooms in the main building are being used but the gym building has a good dozen rooms while the cafeteria building has ~4 rooms being 'used' by maintenance but they need major repairs before they can be used so I'm not counting those. West is the worst here. They do PreK-8 and they have a good dozen rooms not being used, they have furniture so they're ready to be used, and you know what got approved for them? Moving the 7th and 8th graders into the unused rooms at East! I don't know what the reason is but I think I heard it was because they didn't have room to have them there. WTF!? They tried shunting the 8th graders onto East before a couple years back and that got cancelled after a month so what makes them think having both 7th and 8th at the high school will work? And I haven't heard of them hiring new teachers to teach them so are they expecting the middle school teachers to drive between the two campuses all day long to keep the schedule? Having the high school teachers teach them along with teaching the high schoolers? I don't know what they're thinking here!
  10. I agree with @Calderis and @Wreith, what is it about Taln that made him endure whatever happens on Braize for so long alone? Especially with how broken he is during the entirety of WOR something broke him bad while on Braize. I hope we find out more before his book comes out.
  11. Now showing on TBS Storage Wars: Brandon Sanderson Edition!
  12. One thing to note on your description of silver dust, no one else has encountered Shades. Scadrians likely tested silver at some point but found 'no effect' so Threnodites are likely the only people to know the effects of silver
  13. I wonder if Hoid should've used an alloy of Lerasium and Aonasium to fulfill his goal in Elantris?
  14. If he's that tough I'd hate to see the aftermath of a fight between him, Chuck Norris, Goku and Superman. Could be a combination of both since Taln could endure lots of different types of torture and Odium trying to see which could break him and he finally found it, or Taln is that tough but Odium had a different plan for what's happening on Roshar, building up an army to help conquer the Cosmere (or whatever his ultimate goal is), and finally broke Taln to start his escape plan to murder all Shards
  15. That world would be so 'love'ly , but it might get too fetish level and adult for Brandon since I don't know how he feels about having something that mature in the Cosmere. I we went more the Desire route it could be more about getting what you want/desire and the Investiture would follow suit, maybe with a variant that's essentially magical five finger discounts. A planet of thieves! Wayne would be so at home here.
  16. I know that Desolations happened when one of them broke but it does make one wonder how Taln was able to endure it for 5000 years but the others couldn't last a couple centuries, assuming one goes with the theory that each Herald broke once making 9 Desolations before the "last". I mean does this imply Taln is tougher than the rest or was Odium's minions taking their sweet time at breaking him until he finally gave in?
  17. I never heard that word before but I also had never heard Odium before the Cosmere
  18. Here's what I think would be interesting Shards: Discord/Chaos/Trickster, a Shard all about causing mischief and chaos similar to what Eris and Loki do Horror/Unknown/Fear, pretty much a Lovecraftian style Shard twisting things Inspiration/Wonder, this Shard would be about inspiring artists, poets, sculptors, authors, etc... to create something beautiful Lust/Desire, don't know what type of Investiture this one could have but I would find it weird if Adonalsium didn't have some sexual attraction like any god would have in mythology Boredom/Laziness, maybe the Investiture from this one could involve doing nothing and something will happen, not because they want to be lazy but because they have to think about what they want it to do. Also there's got to be at least one Shard that's just underwhelming compared to the others. Childishness/Playfulness/Purity, this could be self-explanatory and the Investiture could be used only by children and those young at heart/pure of heart
  19. Even during WOK I found it weird that the Desolations were seemingly close together with 10 Heralds trying to hold it back and failing and yet there's 1 doing the holding and 5000 years pass? Something's up there that we're not being told.
  20. @Weltall Yeah some are pretty obvious. Will put rest in spoiler:
  21. When you think about what ambition means I guess that makes sense, though that would mean she would absolutely be against him instead of being a potential ally since ambition is all about achieving a goal/dream and since the Splintering of Ambition was shortly after the Shattering I doubt Uli Da was completely taken by her Intent yet
  22. Chaos, Eris, Loki, anything that implies that
  23. I had a shower theory about this, what if there's a Shard in the remaining 6 that's actively pitting the others against each other but does it by impersonating the offender? Like Trell could be this Shard trying to pit Harmony, and possibly Odium, against Autonomy for their own reasons. Maybe we could call this Shard Discord.
  24. I don't really see what's so dangerous about Ambition itself, at least according to Odium. Is it explained better in the AU essays or is it more WOB?
  25. Could you imagine if Cusicech was actually much smaller in Shadesmar, essentially having a Napoleon Complex.
