  1. Finished Assassin's Creed Rogue. An interesting, but short, game. Shay's reason for defecting is good but he blew the situation out of control where he went straight to 'you sent me there to kill that city!' when all he had to do was explain calmly, but with obvious anger, what happened and the whole could've been resolved right then and there instead of at the end when Achilles finally sees what Shay was talking about. The game still leaves a big question mark on who put that virus in the Shay memories in the first place. Next game for me is Watch_Dogs
  2. I prefer the US covers but I like Skyward's UK cover more.
  3. I think that's called being a compulsive liar since denying physical evidence like that is a sign of it. My mom does that type of stuff all the time to me where we'll need to get somewhere and when I do the short route for her she acts like we took the scenic route or if we're going somewhere and there's unavoidable traffic with no way around she acts like I put us there on purpose. Heck the other week we went to drop something off to my dad since he was in town and she wanted to do dinner, so I'm following her directions since I don't know the area that well, get lost following her directions and it's apparently my fault we went the wrong way when I was the one who kept asking 'wouldn't this way work better?' I've actually looked it up and what she does to me in those situations is known as toxic parenting. She tries to do it to my sister but she's having none of it. She finally believes that the outlet I said was right is correct and booked a hotel near there. Edit: Oh yeah, another annoying thing my mom does is always making excuses, or never accusing, for people who have mental disorders, or just appear to have one but don't, when they do something that would get a non-mental disordered person in deep rust. Like this one guy who sometimes comes to help us definitely has something wrong with him but when he messes up on stuff she never gets mad at him or blames someone else. One example is her complaining constantly about this part holding the cord for the vacuum being broken and he was the last one to use it before it broke but she refuses to blame him and instead continues to blame the tech department. Isn't it considered wrong to give any group of people special treatment like that? I mean I'm all for forgiving people but when someone does something wrong and no one blames them then I have a problem with it.
  4. I did that, she was still confused and argumentative about it. What makes it harder is she wants to stay at a hotel nearby but all the close are on the other side of the highway so we have to drive there no matter which hotel she decides on. Sometimes it feels like she argues just for the sake of arguing and I wasn't in the mood for that because I was getting a headache and trying to get ready for bed.
  5. My mom just has to visit this one store while we're in Florida for vacation this Christmas and she keeps arguing where it's located. It's the disney store located at the Orlando International Premium Outlets but because there's a second one, called Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets, she's confused to high heaven on which one it is. It's easy because Orlando International is across the highway from Universal Studios and Orlando Vineland is almost across from Disney Springs, which if you don't know the area is a good 10 mile distance away from each other. When we went there last time we weren't on the highway for 10 miles to get back to Universal. Also she's confused because both are on the highway but the difference is Orlando International is butted up against the highway while Orlando Vineland has a major road separating it from the highway. Pretty much it's like confusing Sanderson and Martin because they both write Fantasy books.
  6. We've all met people who reminds you of a character you've read in a book, seen in a movie or saw in a game. What are yours? For me I've got a coworker who reminds me of Umbridge. She continually pretends to be sweet but is a horrible person, she's condescending to the point of her treating everyone like she's the storming Queen!, when she worked at one of our campuses a few years ago she would always suck up to the principal (like Umbridge to Fudge) leaving me to do all the work when I was there to help her (for context: in terms of the corporate ladder I was higher up than her since I'm central office and she was campus level) and one day she pushed my buttons too far and I spoke to her exactly how she would talk to me in her condescending tone. Also she's married but she doesn't seem to give him a second thought because a few months back she didn't call him to let him know she was working late and he was calling everyone he knew, including my mom since she's friends with his brother, to make sure she wasn't killed or kidnapped and when she found out he called everyone she flipped out at him. Anyway anyone else have real life characters they've met?
  7. I kind of mean he's developed this character up that it feels reminiscent of the epigraphs from Era 1 so I'm wondering if Jak will pop up at some point or turn out to be a known character.
  8. Just finished Shadows of Self. Here are my thoughts: It was a good story and had some parallels to both FE and WOA with the riots and Kandra twist at the end. Reading the broadsheets here and in AOL I wonder what the point of Allomancer Jak is and how important he actually is to the Era 2 history. This is Sanderson we're talking about, everything has a point and a reason behind it. It's kind of sad how Wayne treats Steris, especially when he point blank tells her that he hates her... while we're reading in her head. Next up is Elantris 10th Anniversary Edition. Going to be nice getting a refresher on Sel before AU later Edit: Probably would've finished a lot sooner but summer is the worst time of year for me to do anything. I can't function properly during summer, the season always makes reading a chore more than anything and when I'm in a vehicle during summer I become so sleepy (which is bad if I'm driving at the time when that hits). One of my coworkers said it sounds like how everyone else feels during winter, which is interesting since I'm more active then.
  9. Maybe the question will be the nature of Machin Shin. He claims there's no where it fits timeline wise but doesn't the battle have a few time jumps?
  10. It's kind of crazy how much more Walmart is compared to other stores. At Walmart me and my mom would get the basics (5 days lunch for each, 5 days breakfast for me, milk, some items for dinners, water) and have it over $200 but at HEB we'll get the same stuff along with extra fluff like bagels, ice cream, candy, juice, flavored water and fruit and spend way under $200, even under $150! We get more stuff at HEB for less money!
  11. @Ammanas Those are some nice covers!
  12. Finished all of Assassin's Creed 4. I liked the overall story and it got sad seeing everyone die, on and off screen, especially Blackbeard and Mary Read. Some of the pirates I had never heard of before, like Stede Bonnet and Hornigold, so it was neat seeing them like it was neat seeing the Medici family and Cristina Sforza in 2. The Aveline content makes me want a full console game with her, not just a handheld game or a mini game. Freedom Cry sure is a different beast since it's focused on the Maroon Rebellion, the precursor to the Haiti Revolution. It was so satisfying to kill de Fayte at the end. The music is African inspired, which fits since the story is about the slave trade in Haiti during the 18th century and the main character was a former slave himself. Next game is Assassin's Creed Rogue where you play as a Templar to kill Assassin's during the Seven Years War/French and Indian War and focusing on the Colonial Assassin Purge mentioned in 3.
  13. When a YouTuber you like mentions a Sanderson book. This one known as Goodnight Moon mentioned Mistborn in one of her new videos (rambling ASMR) and one where she went to the library she focused on the Mistborn books for a little bit.
  14. Welp Disney threw a wrench into our dining reservations in December. We were going to do the Be Our Guest restaurant for dinner one night and we found out yesterday that it's now going to be 2 credits instead of one and the menu was changed completely to the point that there's nothing my dad will eat (he's extremely picky with his food) and my mom was struggling to figure something out for herself so now we're scrambling to figure out a replacement restaurant. And it's not just us, loads of other guests booked with 1 credit and the old menu in mind and those folks are also canceling since they hate the menu as well.
  15. It's their way of saluting to the flag just like some stand, some place their hat on their chest and some hold hands. But it's not the reason they kneel that's the problem, it's other people thinking it's bad just because the ones doing it are black. It's like saying someone is rude because they don't like shaking hands but are actually a germaphode or raised in a culture where touching is a faux pas. It's just people being racist for the sake of being racist since the only people I've seen saying it's bad have been all white people.
  16. The news is once again complaining about black football players kneeling during the anthem. My mom got into it as well because she views it as a sign of disrespect for the flag and country while others claim it's a sign of protest. People, not every single thing a black person does is a sign of protest or disrespect. If kneeling is disrespectful then we're disrespecting every single monarch when we kneel to them. It's like the general thought going through those minds is "Them black peoples only know disrespect and protest everything" and all I'm thinking is "if these were white players no one would bat an eye at it"
  17. Saw Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again today. It was good and the new songs they did were really good like Knowing Me Knowing You, When I Kissed the Teacher and Fernando but they did include songs from the first film like Dancing Queen, Waterloo and Mamma Mia.
  18. The local Walmart is getting a remodel... again. They remodel almost every other year and it's a little ridiculous at this point. Had to work at one of the campuses today and the ac wasn't on so I was stuck in triple digit heat indoors. Got a bit sick yesterday. I woke up around 4 to a pain in the lower right of my back. It was so bad my first thought was that I was experiencing appendicitis. Then I needed the bathroom and while sitting there I had to quickly grab the trash can. Had a couple more trips to the bathroom after that and couldn't get back to sleep. One of my coworkers has trained as a nurse and said it might be a stomach bug and pulled muscle since the pain wasn't in the front and thus not my appendix. All I had to eat was an English muffin and 7 up for breakfast and lunch (7up helps settle my stomach after getting sick) and my mom had me do chicken noodle soup for dinner even though I hate that stuff (broth makes me want to puke so I can only do thick and cream soups) but I feel much better now.
  19. Interesting that he's already started on the sequel. Wonder if this means he was starting it during the secret project. Also when I saw the update I didn't read anything above it and thought that was the secret project until I looked above it at the secret project line
  20. Just beat Assassin's Creed III The Tyranny of King Washington. Boy was this story dark compared to the horrors that happened in the Revolution in the main game. The Frontier towns burned down, bodies everywhere, people enslaved and wolves everywhere. Boston and New York pretty much prisons for the people. Washington planning to conquer England after taking over the colonies. The powers of the Red Willow and the journey for them were creepy especially when you see Ziio's angry ghost reprimanding her son for disobeying her. The story itself was based off two things: In AC2 it was revealed Washington found an apple of eden and the famous incident where he refused to be named king of the United States. Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is next
  21. And it's like he's complaining about Germany owing us money when we owe China 10x times what the entire European continent owes us. And with him specifically saying Germany I say he's out of line because the Germans have suffered enough after the post-WWII stuff (part of my family came from the German Empire so you can see why that has me hot and bothered) I support him but this is one of the few things that's gone too far with his words/actions.
  22. Trump complaining about NATO and countries owing us money leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I mean there are countries we owe money to but you don't see him clamoring to pay them back. It's a big case of "I know I owe $20 to everyone here but you still owe me that $5 I lent you last week" if you ask me. Also Mr. President NATO is an alliance not a business so everyone doesn't have to pitch in with money.
  23. Nearly done with Assassin's Creed 3. Just need to do this: finish the Homestead missions, do the Frontiermen/Hunting/Brawler missions (if possible), Sequence 10, the Benedict Arnold missions, Sequence 11 onwards, whatever is available post-game and finally The Tyranny of King Washington. I might check out the multiplayer but I'm not into those types of things.
  24. Found a couple DIY Japanese candy kits the other day at the store. The first was a sushi candy and the other was a donut 'candy'. They're both good and interesting to make. The sushi had candy dough for the rice, lemon jelly for the egg sushi, strawberry jelly for the salmon sushi, a grape flavored paste for the nori and orange salmon roe. The donuts do the dough but in custard and cocoa flavor with vanilla and strawberry frostings, chocolate sauce and can be topped with cookie crumbs and sprinkles. Except for the crumbs and sprinkles everything is a powder mixture that needs water added. I'd make these again in the future.
  25. This past week I've been playing Assassin's Creed 3 since it was the Fourth of July and the game is about the Revolution. I know not many people liked this game but anyone would've been disappointing after Ezio. Also most people don't realize the difference between Connor/Ratonhnhaké:ton and Ezio's accomplishments: by the time Revelations ended Ezio made the European Order strong, kickstarted the renaissance and helped bring order to the Ottoman Empire while Connor participated in practically everything in the Revolution and refounded the American Order by the time he was Ezio's age... at the beginning of AC2! I mean pretty much creating a country, and town, and recreating a whole organization by the time he was 27 is very good. Also he started when he was 13! So he did a lot during 14 years compared to Ezio who was 47 by the time he finally stopped the Borgia's. Once I finish this I'm heading to the Caribbean with Edward to experience the Golden Age of Piracy in Assassin's Creed 4
