I just watched A Monster in Paris. Loved it but my only complaint is it should’ve included the original French audio since I like the French version of the songs more. I also prefer watching films in their original language than watching a dub to be honest.

One of the only alloys I found was Platinum Sterling, but since that’s a trademarked name it would need a different name, but an interesting Allomancy for these could be Imitation. Platinum could Imitate External powers while it’s alloy could Imitate Internal powers, almost making them semi-Mistborns. Imagine how scary it would be if a couple bad guys had this ability since you couldn’t properly predict what they’ll do since they could always be doing Pewter stuff but then in a fight they whip out Steel powers. As for a counterpart to these could be a pair that imitate off world powers.

Maybe the threshold is getting any type of injury so a simple stubbed Tor or paper cut could ‘snap’ you.

Would platinum be a good metal?

They’re definitely alien but then what planet would they have come from? The one type, with their shapeshifting, is almost like Kandra shapeshifting but not quite unless they are distant descendants of Kandra and another race. The Sleepless are interesting trying to figure out where they would naturally evolve from.

Shallash also has her safehand covered which is a very Vorin thing to do. Maybe the artist is from the west but made the painting for someone in the east so it’s probably a mixed culture picture.

This could mean different things: If it was a Shard the situations I’m imagining are A. The essence is tied to the Cosmere so they either started feeling weak or the power was fading B. A classic case of walking in a straight line and somehow ending up back where they started. If it was a person, like Khriss, then there might be a limit to how far you can go in the Cognitive Realm or the area outside of the Cosmere is so barren that an expedition tried seeing if there was anything else and they ran out of supplies. If it was Hoid then it was probably on a whim.

Wonder if there’s enough context clues in the pictures to figure out culture clues if the artist was given clues, from either Brandon or Isaac, on which nation to draw for.

Maybe Hoid was involved in getting Shai to be in the position to Forge the emperor because it might have something to do with Adonalsium since both were gone but there was still something remaining of them. Since these books are still early in the timeline Hoid might most likely be doing stuff on Sel trying to get access to the magic but keeps having trouble until he gets to the realization that he can’t use it off world or only those from Sel can use it, even if Identity is changed.

@Pathfinder Now that makes me wonder which nations did which paintings, if the dark skinned ones are from the west and if the more brown and light skinned ones are from the Vorin nations.

Taln’s picture is okay to me. The hair looks weird since it makes him look kind of colonial and I picture him with long hair. I’m most likely forgetting but don’t most Vorin people think the Heralds look Alethi as in bright eyed and not dark skinned like westerners?

My theory is that a Bondsmiths role is to unite Roshar but not all alone. What I mean is they would be more like a god emperor or a warden of certain parts of Roshar. To use real world analogy think of Roshar like the Roman Empire. One emperor couldn’t manage it so there was one in the east to manage the eastern half and one in the west to manage the west. What if Bondsmiths are the same and they have to work together to unite every part of Roshar and if there’s not 3 then the KR and Roshar suffer because the Bondsmiths are being stretched too thin and this could be part of why the KR started the downward spiral to the disbandment. Maybe the Stormfather Bondsmith is supposed to regulate the east, the Vorin nations, the Nightwatcher Bondsmith could be for the western nations while the Sibling Bondsmith handles the outlying island nations and Urithiru. Another way to think of them is they are Heralds for ‘peaceful’ times.

I’ll be getting ready for vacation around that time so if there’s a book tour I wouldn’t be able to attend at all.

When I hear Deepest Ones I immediately think of Deep Ones and remember that Threnody is kind of gothic horror. What if Threnody has Lovecraftian myths? What if these are Cosmere versions of the Deep Ones themselves?

I’m watching the entirety of Total Drama Island. Love this show.

No one’s going to mention Khriss for both beauty and brains? I imagine to keep the beauty side under control the contestants can’t use their local magics to change their appearance and Kandra have to stay in one form without changing anything about their appearance.

I would imagine some getting pretty bad compared to others similar to Old Magic. Heck it could vary slightly from person to person by maybe having the Savantism resemble real diseases. I could see Soothing Savantism being where your own feelings are dulled so you feel empty, or in other words depressed, while Rioting would cause you to become a bit bipolar since your feelings could change constantly. Regrowth could possibly have the effect where your body overproduces healing and you get tumors like cancer or extra body parts that cause pain since your body wasn’t built for more. This line of thought now makes me wonder if in the upcoming Era 3 there will be a group of people similar to anti-vaxxers but these people are actually kind of right since with this line of thought the Allomancy is actually causing the diseases, just going overtime and resembling them.

I quickly read through White Sand 3 and all I really want now is for the sequel trilogy to come so we can get answers about the Sand Lord, what happened in the last couple panels, what Darkside is like and how Khriss starts to become Cosmere aware. Slowly making my way through Wild Cards, just had a bad couple of reading months in November and December.

Maybe not 100% reformed but maybe mostly reformed, like if the Roshar Shards were taken by one person, the Sel ones somehow taken as well and the currently unknown and dead Shards as well, maybe all taken by Autonomy to make Adonalsium mostly back but not quite. I could see Autonomy doing this since they keep going to other worlds but doesn’t like anyone going to Taldain so what if they’re already doing this?

Only watched Spyfall but did get spoiled on episode 5
