  1. Perhaps "as she had spread the knowledge of how to make Lifeless from a single breath"?
  2. By the way, @Eternum, I notice you're fairly new. Have you played Mafia before (not on 17th Shard)?
  3. Sorry; if it helps, you're not the first person whose gender I've gotten mixed up on.
  4. I haven't had much; between not getting into it cycle 1, and being unable to get on for most of cycle 3, I'm just not as into this game as some others in the past. That was part of why I avoided voting, though most of it was that, unlike other games, there is a potential downside to voting (if the target turns out to be Truthless) and therefore I'm not inclined to vote on a minor suspicion like I often would. (I very rarely have more than minor suspicions; usually no more than one or two per game.) That said: Winter definitely seems suspicious; his initial claim of Truthless, followed by behavior not matching Truthless, definitely suggests that he's trying to deceive someone. Whether that's a Truthless whose initial IKYK gambit failed and is now trying to seem elim, or an elim trying to deceive the village, or a villager trying to confuse the elims, I couldn't say, though he's definitely my top choice for elim at the moment.
  5. So your behavior changes from game to game, but you made sure to keep track of which behavior best matches the current game. As if you were intentionally trying to match your village play in a previous game (and, I will note, playing as you would as a villager was the primary advice I gave in the elim doc in LG35). PK.
  6. That's not such a big deal; in a scannerless game with this many starting players, and no kills besides the lynch and elim kill, significant village losses before the first elim kill are perfectly normal. If we hit day 5 or 6 with no elims taken out, then it's time to start getting worried.
  7. Ah. Maybe you should have been a bit less cryptic if that was what you meant.
  8. For some reason, when I first signed up, I though that we requested at the time which thread to be in. Rereading, that doesn't seem to be the case, so I edited my signup post accordingly; I'll take a random location. By the way, a question: The Protector of the Forest and Dragonslayer roles get extra lives, and the roles can also be removed (via the Medium changing). If they use their extra life and then lose the role, what happens? What happens if they then regain the role? EDIT: Also, if the Protector of the Forest had an action besides that role, how does that action interact with the "3 in a row and you die" rule?
  9. I looked through all your D1 posts, and the only one talking about Ecth at all was something vague about schemes, not at all mentioning a PM that he received.
  10. No we didn't. We discussed the implications of his claiming to be a squire and putting the word in green; we did not discuss what he meant by a PM of the same nature as his. Who got a PM of the same nature as Ecth's? Care to explain? Or at least confirm that it doesn't indicate anything that the village should know?
  11. More like because you put it in green as if to say "this is what was in my role PM", when we know it wasn't. Question for the thread: Ecth sent me a PM day1 asking whether I received a PM of the same nature as his. Anyone have any theories about what he might have meant by this?
  12. I do seem to remember a recent game in which I called someone out for a clearly spurious D1 vote and I'm pretty sure he wasn't an elim. (In my last 3 games I was an elim, so I think I'd remember if that person was also an elim.) Don't remember the details at the moment, though, and not interested in taking the time to try to find them.
  13. I would be more inclined to say that D1 bandwagons are almost always villagers because D1 bandwagons usually aren't going on any real info, so they might as well be random, and D1 there are a lot more villagers to be randomly lynched than there are elims.
  14. By the way, we probably should avoid having too many votes on one person, so that if he is Truthless, it doesn't wipe out half the village. Vote manipulation by the elims is somewhat of a danger, but a 3 person lead would be plenty.
  15. This is a good point. Ok, so then it's definitely just El making things interesting.
  16. Sorry I haven't gotten on before; I started a new job today. One thing that I don't think was mentioned about the start-of-game kill: Wilson was an Elsecaller, and the Elsecaller special ability is an extra life. So that sort of rules out any options other than "special role" and "player realized last-minute they wouldn't be able to make it and Elbereth decided to have some fun". I also find it interesting that Winter said he'd be alignment-scanned, seeing as this game has no alignment scanners. (Not sure if that was mentioned before.)
  17. My thoughts on your retrospective: A. The issue of Parshendi being unable to optimally use their extra lives is an issue, but the solution of making those extra lives available all the time feels like it both breaks the theme of the roles and removes one of the more interesting decisions for players to make. (It also requires rebalancing in a way that keeps the Parshendi from having any actual scanners.) Here is a suggestion for an alternate approach: -The first ("Warform") extra life is available in any form except for Decayform (dealt with below) and Scholarform (needs protection from a Warform). However, in Nimbleform or Smokeform, it reveals your form if used to survive the lynch (everybody can see why you're hard to catch). -If you are attacked in Decayform, you automatically (unless you specifically instruct otherwise) use your action to roleblock whoever attacked you instead of whatever you planned to use your action for. This does not protect against the lynch, and of course may give a clue as to your form (and thus alignment). This may be used once per round. -If you lose the Stormform extra life, you must stay in Stormform (you are too injured to survive in any other form). Naturally, faction balance would need to be adjusted accordingly. B. Instead of giving the Parshendi a Shardbearer, consider giving them a Shardblade that can be used by anyone in Warform (perhaps even in addition to their protect action). It'll be more robust, give more reason to stay in Warform despite the extra life being available in Nimbleform. C. The idea of a SoH faction kill or transferable shardblade seems like a good solution. D. Regarding the Ghostbloods: Their main issues seem to have arisen from role issues you noted elsewhere (scanners and Highprinces). I don't know if a separate faction fix is needed, though increasing the number might not be a bad idea. E. An alternative fix for Highprince is that instead of blocking the attack, they redirect it to themselves (as well as strike back). Good thing they have Shardplate, too bad it's only good once. F. Another idea for the Artifabrians (the solution to Scholarform, IMO, is to make it so they can't use the extra life and therefore need protection) is to make it so that they scan for a specific two roles and a specific alignment (unaligned is not a possible alignment to scan for). So they can find Voidbringers, or find Ghostbloods, but not both at once. G. Having roles that can only win with the unaligned win is definitely going to help, but I still feel that it's impossible to balance it perfectly between the two win conditions, and therefore you'll get a bias among those who have a choice toward one of them. Here's an idea (either instead of, or in addition to, yours): Each unaligned player is secretly assigned a "preferred" win condition. If that condition happens, they win. If the other win condition for their faction happens, it's considered a tie for them (neither a win nor a loss). So even the "prefer neutral win" unaligned Alethi would go for the Sons win if they had to (at least it's not a loss), but there wouldn't be room for persuasion like this game. It's all up to whoever runs it, of course, but hopefully some of these ideas are good ones.
  18. Also, @little wilson please be aware that I did ask Seonid (in the dead doc) for permission to post my theories regarding these matters, and he agreed.
