I agree with @Wyndlerunner. Elantris was the first Sanderson book that I read, so it has a special place in my heart. It is a great intro book to the cosmere, and I know that most people recommend Mistborn, but it took me three tries to finish the Mistborn series. Elantris is shorter, snappier, funner (it is a word, fight me), less dark, and less intense. I love Elantris so much for Hrathen. I almost want to go through it reading just the Hrathen chapters, he is that amazing of a character. So again, Elantris all of the way for it's stand-alone beauty.

I second the opinion. I love them so much that I can no longer read any authors but Pratchett and Sanderson. The only problem is that Pratchett is dead, so no new books (he has 50 though, so I'm not complaining too loudly), and I joined the Fanderson a bit too early, so I have to wait for more books.

Agreed. I meant commonly accepted scientific natural forces, plate tectonics and etc. I don't know whether to include deities or not as natural forces, so I just left Adonalsium out.

@Xtafa, the geology doesn't follow the same rules as earth because a). Adonalsium, rather than natural forces, created it and b.) crem exists. This leads to some minor inconsistencies that annoy the crap out of me, and will probably annoy you too.

I don't listen to heavy fiction/fantasy as audiobooks. I prefer children's books most of the time, otherwise I'd vote.

Welcome, @mek293! Have an upvote! Cosmere books are awesome, especially Elantris. Elantris is a traditional place to start in the fandom because it is a bit easier (read; shorter, less intense) than Stormlight or Mistborn. I, personally, would suggest his children's series, Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians, but only if you want to wet yourself with laughter.

The ones with females as the main character (or at least, has a main PoV) are Monstrous Regiment (A country has been at war for so long that their most recently recruited regiment is composed solely of women dressed up as men) Nation (An islander boy and a shipwrecked girl must survive and rebuild on an island after a tsunami) Any of the books about Death (not Mort), so Hogfather, Soul Music The Tiffany Aching series (Magic + Witches + a young girl + cussing scottish fairies) The Witch series (A Mother, a Maid, and a Crone go about saving their town/small kingdom from various enemies)

YOU GUYS I JUST THOUGHT OF A QUESTION THAT NO ONE HAS ASKED BEFORE. People from Roshar think that all birds are chickens, right? Well, birds are related to dinosaurs. Would they call a feathered dinosaur a chicken?

Seconding what other people have said, I didn't really pay attention to any of the artwork, and I only quickly scanned each panel to see if the movements of the characters effected the dialogue. The biggest distraction for me was, honestly, having the last chapter be by a different artist. I kept imagining how the original artist would do it. I don't like his nonsensical lines, but I do like some of the details he hides in them. In summation: I don't read graphic novels, but this was okay. Not the best portrayal of a Sanderson.

Hah, I do Running Start (concurrent enrollment in high school and college with the high school paying for the college classes) and the spring breaks are about two weeks off...... I'll be using the high school spring break to sleep in, and that's about it. Maybe a little book-binging.
