  1. Interesing. I wonder why. OK I get it. Yeah, it's possible that there might be some racism and discrimination against people with red eyes. However, as the WoB you've posted said, the glowing red eyes, eyes that were completely red were a sign of Voidbringers, not just with red iris. People believed that red eyes were just a legend, nothing more. WoR ch 78: I think there is enough to suggest that there was no widespread discrimination against Lighteyes with red irises, there might be some bullying happening on an individual level, but I wouldn't expect people with red irises to "go extinct" - especially that at least half of Roshar isn't influenced by Vorinism. But even under Vorinism I doubt people would be concerned by red irises. Yes, the colors of Radiants are shown to us on the WoK Front Endsheet showing us glyphs of Radiant Orders and surges. Dustbringers have a clearly red color, Lightweavers have a very dark red, in my opinion it's more brown than red. Also the first ever mention of garnets in WoK describes them as "deep violet" - which doesn't fit to the color of the Lightweavers glyph. I just want to point out that those two are two clearly different colors.
  2. What are you trying to say? That red lighteyes are missing at all? I don't really remember which eye colors were mentioned, I think there were blue, violet and orange for sure, but even if red didn't appear on pages, they probably still are out there among the population, more or less in equal numbers as other colors (except for yellow, good catch). Lightweavers and Dustbringers' colors are different shades of red, those two would give two different lighteyes colors - wouldn't Lightweaver's color be more brownish than red? Garnets are their gemstones, Moash's eyes were dark brown, turned tan when bonded with Shards - maybe with a Lightweaver's blade. Looking through the appearances of Notable lighteyes, most of them are lacking descriptions of their eye color at all. Just because people with those eye colors weren't mentioned (can't remember tbf) doesn't mean they aren't there. Yellow color was mentioned a few times.
  3. It has been more than 340 years since the destruction of the Pits when we saw them in SoS and it's clear they are non-functional. They don't generate Atium anymore. To get Atium you need to start splitting Harmonium, which is an explosively dangerous and ineffective way of getting this god metal.
  4. Odium only recently decided to get fully invested in Roshar, before he tried to avoid it as much as possible to avoid being tied to Roshar and be able to leave. He had to invest in recent centuries fully. That's the reason why he wouldn't want to just create Raysium for his Fused, if that was even allowed by Honor's restrictions placed upon him (which are separate from the Oathpact). If not created then they had to find it from natural sources, but this is a very slow process, manifesting in dangerous or even inaccessible areas, possibly even on Braize. Getting Raysium directly from the surface of Braize would explain why it's such a rare metal - Braize barely hold any atmosphere, it's a deadly place even to Fused. And that doesn't even take into consideration the quantity that could be manifested - it could be a relatively small amount of Raisum manifesting naturally because Odium wasn’t very invested in Roshar. No they didn't. They often survived Deoslations, like during Aharietiam. Heralds are really tough to kill and if you have only a tiny bit of Raysium at your disposal, you can't afford to rely on a random chance. Raysium is very rare and very hard to get. They have barely enough to make only a few weapons for a selected few Heavenly Ones, not every Fused. And Fused used Raysium only for "a few Returns" not every Return (earlier quote). RoW ch 84: But it's the very opposite - only recently Heralds became overcome by their madness and dropped their guard. It would be impossible to assassinate them during Desolation, when they were still more or less mentally stable and determinate - Taln in WoR proved this. Heralds are insanely good fighters. Firstly, Fused didn't know Heralds will die in a gemstone, they've expected them to last just like spren, Secondly Honor was still alive and he and Cultivation were still able to counter Odium's plans and come up with another solution, to seal Fused again. Lastly, killing Heralds isn't a solution for Odium to be free of Honor's restraints - he needed Honor to free him directly and Honor would never do that. Sure it's better without the Oathpact, but that isn't a permanent change. A large gemstone would probably fit dozens or hundreds of Fused at once, like a King's Drop. And once they would realize that Fused fades in gemstones over weeks they wouldn't need that many of them anyway. It doesn't work like that. Odium IS trapped and restricted. Shards can't prevent people from accessing and using their investiture. God metals are the result of the presence of a Shard in a system, of Shardic investiture permeating the system and leaking in random places manifesting in a physical form. Shards don't control that, sure they can invest more in the system and create god metals if they need it (Honorblades) but that is a big commitment for Odium, which he wasn;t willing to take. Moreover the fact that there are tens of thousands of spren present on Roshar might mitigate this pressure and provide a relief valve so far less solid investiture would manifest. And there is also a fact that Odium avoided investing into Roshar as much as possible, his essence only recently begun to being a part of Roshar. Getting Raysium during previous Desolation would be even more problematic than now. Mistborn spoilers: That's not true. The difference between Stormlight (raw, static investiture in a physical, gaseous form) and a soul (spiritual investiture, keyed to the identity of an individual, not physical in any way) is big. Those things are not the same. Stormlight is static investiture, a soul isn't even fully innate investiture (innate investiture is only a part of a soul), it's something else entirely. A soul is not even pure investiture, it's also a bunch of Connections and Identity. Affecting things that are tied to a body, keyed by Identity, is generally hard in Cosmere. It's not as intuitive as you think. Draining Stormlight is not the same as draining souls, those things are very different. Investiture is not equal to investiture, there are different types of investiture and different magics and objects interact differently with different types of investiture - there is static investiture, kinetic investiture, innate investiture - a soul (or rahter we should say a spirit web) is something else entirely, it contains a bit of innate investiture, but innate investiture doesn't make all of the investiture in the soul. For example Returned can sense innate investiture only, but not souls (drabs have souls too), while Seekers can sense only kinetic investiture, not static or innate. They didn't even know it's possible to trap spren in a gemstone, it's impossible for them to make this leap and trap Heralds in gemstones if they didn't even know you can do that with spren. Knowing that Raysium conducts static and kinetic investiture (but it never harmed innate investiture when used by Fused in combat) doesn't leap into trapping souls in a gemstone, which would make them fade - both of which they didn't know about. It's also possible that as long as Honor was alive he would provide enough connection to SR to prevent Heralds from fading even in a gemstone. And that means they would eventually get out and restart Oathpact. You mean someone in Cosmere had access to Raysium and studied it enough to know and write that it can trap souls in a gemstone? Nope. The fact that Odium didn't know about this means it's not as easy as you think so. Even if he knew souls can be conducted via gemstones doesn't mean that he would realize that souls can be trapped in a gemstone - and that's the main thing they were missing before imprisonment of BAM showed them it's even possible. This clearly shows us that Odium lacked knowledge about one of those two steps, or both of them. Conscious effort is required and if he'd never bothered searching for different possible ways of ending Desolations, different ways of dealing with Heralds, different ways of using Raysium and finally ways to trap Heralds in a gemstone (which is very specific), he would have never known it's possible. That's a lot of steps to get the answer and it requires him to know some things are possible - like using gemstones to hold souls, which he didn't know.
  5. No, they can't move forever, only for a few years as long as their body is in a good shape. Heat is energy, but why bother with heat when you can just Awaken a belt to rotate a magnet in a coil - that is what every power plant is doing to produce electricity. The more damage it accumulates, the more replacements you make the harder it is for the Breath to function. If you replace Lifeless' joints it would stop functioning at all, unless you give it another Breath.
  6. In medallions, the nicrosil portion works like a coppermind - you fully store it there once, and you fully tap it back, with nothing being used up over time. But we know medallions are different and one WoB claims nicrosil portion of medallions is more restrictive than normal Feruchemical nicrosil. Because of that I suspect that a normal nicrosilmind used by a Feruchemist would work like most other powers (just like storing mass in iron) - you store 50% of your Allomantic strength in a nicrosilmind for an hour, you can tap it back for an hour to be at 150% strength, or tap with diminishing returns to get more for a shorter time. In case of Allomancy you could get to Lerasium Mistborn power or Rashek's levels, maybe even stronger if it is possible. You can make duralumin powered steelpushes without duralumin, by just burning your steel while tapping a lot of nicrosil. For me this makes a lot of sense and provides a lot of exciting possibilities. But unfortunately, we don't know much about applications of F-nicrosil, this is something that Brandon wants to explore in the future so we have to wait.
  7. Welcome to the Shard. As far as we know a Nicrosilmind stores not raw investiture like Stormlight or Mists, but the ability to use investiture - Surgebinding, Allomancy, Feruchemy and other Invested Arts. Powers not fuel. We see Nicrosilminds being used like that in Era 2, where they provide Feruchemical abilities to use metalminds, but metalminds have to be filled with normal attributes. This won't work.
  8. This was a "recent" discovery. It was made by Radiants, who trapped Mishram in the gemstone during the False Desolation and that's when Fused became aware that you can trap spren and Cognitive Shadows into a gemstone as well. They didn't even know spren can be trapped in gemstones before that. RoW ch 84: This WoB tells you that they aren't not omniscient, they don't know everything. While the power knows a lot, Vessels aren't aware of all that knowledge. Vessel's mind isn't infinite, it can't comprehend infinity. Vessels have to first think about it and then they become aware, or they would have to find this information somewhere else. Rayse would need to first think about the possibility of using gemstones to trap Heralds to know it's even possible. And if he had never thought about trapping them because he didn't know they could be trapped like that, then he would have never known it's possible. Not really. It wasn't about Raysium, it was about gemstones. They didn't know at all you can capture spren and souls in gemstones. 7000 Rosharan years, and we can count the 4500 years after Aharietiam because some Fused were at least mentally active during the False Desolation (look at the first quote). RoW ch 80: A little bit more than 15 Desolations in total, less than 50: Yes, the Oathpact would be weakened with every Herald's death, potentially broken. There is also another thing to consider here - Odium is restricted in his actions by chains placed upon him by Honor. We don't know to what extent this is, but it might also prevent him from sharing knowledge with his servants, so he had to trust them to come up with scientific advancements on their own. RoW ch 112: Overall I think because it's not as easy as "I know what Raysium does thus I know Heralds can be trapped" and it requires figuring out where to trap them, something that nobody knew before the False Desolation and the imprisonment of BAM. Odium simply never searched for this possibility with his mind, thus he didn't know this was an option. Even if the power could have provided this knowledge, there was no conscious effort from the Vessel to look for it. It's not a perfect or satisfying explanation, but it's probably how Brandon would explain all questions like "why Shard X didn't tell Y to his servants earlier." Sometimes we have to suspend our disbelief and simply enjoy the story, otherwise there would be no story to tell.
  9. Sorry, but I really don't understand what any of this does. What is it meant to do, what movement is happening there, what soulstamps are meant to do? But just in case, the law of thermodynamics are applied in Cosmere with addition of third state of matter, perpetual motion machine is not possible to make. Awakening.
  10. In my opinion it's more than oxygen - gasses from your lungs in general. Bendally is described to store "energy" in the table, but more specifically food, nutrients, calories and even drinks. I expect the same with F-cadmium. You can store not just oxygen but also CO2, N2 or even some toxic gasses - any gas that gets into your lungs. And this potentially gives much greater possibilities, especially if you combine this ability with F-gold so you can breathe out toxic gasses, poisoning your opponents with no harm to yourself (it may be even possible with no gold, with just super precise tapping and intent, to make sure all of the tapped gas is leaving your body, not entering your bloodstream). And yes, I agree. F-cadmium is useful for sport applications, deep diving or mountain climbing etc. I also think that F-cadmium is there for the future - the space era of Cosmere. The value of air in space is priceless and it doesn't just sustain life, but can also propel a spacecraft or be used for correction maneuvers. I think that F-cadmium storing "breath" was planned by Brandon with the space era in mind, just like Tress spoilers WoB: You can expect to be able to safely tap more than normally you should have, because Feruchemy in general protects you from some negative effects of "overtapping", at least up to some point - like Steelrunners doesn't care about G-forces, Skimmers don't collapse under their own weight, etc. So you can potentially tap much more oxygen without tearing your lungs apart, or any oxygen poisoning. Feruchemist, like Allomancers, should be immune to metal poisoning. It's not the air that is the problem in submarines, it's a crack in the hull that is a problem - just look at the recent Titan implosion. When you're underwater and your submarine fails, you're crushed into a soup by the immense water pressure and no air can help you.
  11. It's possible for identical twins to have the same identity, because they would have the same DNA. It isn't assured but it seems to be possible, their sDNA can still differ:
  12. In both of those events Nightblood ate more or less the same amount of investiture, because in both of those events it was enough to make him fall into a food coma. We see him leaking a lot during the battle of the Thaylen Field, leaking lots of liquids, especially when he killed the Thunderclast - here is what you're looking for (liquid state is far more concentrated than gaseous state). But Nightblood is already almost full - what he consumed is like a drop of water added to an already full glass of water. This isn't that much compared to what he already holds. A Vessel is less invested than an Unmade so don't expect massive amounts of investiture added to Nightblood - he didn't even eat all of Rayse. He didn't fall into a coma when he stabbed perpendicularly, I've provided quotes here before but he was still feeding on Szeth's Stormlight at an alarming rate after collapsing Dalinar's perpendicularity. Brandon clearly said in WoBs that he isn't sure when Nightblood falls into a coma, but books are clear. He didn't eat a lot in RoW ch 111, compared to killing Rayse. I really don't get your point guys and disagree that we should have seen a massive amount of smoke in those events. We don't know the rate of leakage - it doesn't have to be proportional, it can be logarithmic or something else. We see him leaking liquids and liquids are a far more concentrated form of matter than gasses - a small pool of black liquid can be comparable to a huge plume of smoke you're looking for. The rate of the leakage can also be restricted by the surface area of the sword. Nightblood gets full really fast because he already is almost full, there is no space for more so whatever he consumes is just a little drop compared to what he already holds. He doesn't eat a lot. Not even close to being close. The Bands aren't even as invested as a Shardblade is and a Shardblade is still beneath Nightblood - who don't form any perpendicularity. Whatever Nightblood eats and leaks is not enough to form a perpendicularity. Vin ingested all of Mists and she didn't form a perpendicularity. To form one you need a lot of investiture. Nightblood doesn't just cut in 3 realms, he exists in 3 realms at once like pure investiture does. For me it's more interesting that he manifested as a "curling black darkness" and "black smoke curling" despite aluminum sheath - it seems to suggest that he leaks in other realms despite aluminum cover - he doesn't leak "just" in the PR.
  13. You've misunderstood the WoB. Brandon is saying that you can take a charged spike and steal another power with it because identity will cause issues (as seen in TLM), but you can take it and give it to someone else - inquisitors were doing that, Wax's earring is doing that. The identity in spike is the stolen Identity of the donor. Kandra aren't humans.
  14. Every Shard can do it. Leras simply didn't want to give Kelsier a body because he was reluctant to even make Kelsier into a CS for various reasons (like using his power to make one would weaken him compared to Ruin, his power was preoccupied with resisting Ruin and his mind was gone - it was the Well that made Kelsier into a CS, not Preservation directly). But yes, Harmony could have turned Elend and Vin into Cognitive Shadows if he wanted, but also could have reconnected them with their bodies without making them CS - just like Szeth was revived without becoming a CS. I think Sazed would choose not to make them into CS.
  15. I'm not assuming anything. If they both see each other as separate then the healing would make them that. But if one of them views themselves as being together then nothing would happen. WoB explains this situation.
  16. You misunderstood me, I was not precise enough. I didn't claim that anything has to touch your blood to be harder to push - Hemalurgic spikes have to when they are placed. It's all about proximity to the soul and being inside of the body is enough, without touching blood - metal reserves for an Allomancer can't be pushed after all, coins in mouth too, etc. When perception matters is when we're talking about a wire welded into a weapon - whether it's one object or two combined would be subjected to perception over long periods of time (as per WoB a carpet even after 50 years won't be considered to be a part of a palace). In the case of a very long wire which only partially pierces your body, I would say that it would be like splitting one steel line into multiple ones - a skilled Allomancer can see steel lines pointing all around an object not just to the center of it. The overall percentage of the object which is inside of the body and the skill of an Allomancer would determine how hard the whole thing would be to push. With a long wire a skilled Allomancer can see weak lines pointing to parts of the wire that are outside of the body and push on them (not with the full strength) but they can't see lines pointing to the parts that are in the body and are sticking in and out of it. We know that with enough power and skill you can push on metalminds, spikes or even trace of metals inside your body, so just piercing your body is not enough to protect a metal from being pushed, it just provides resistance but other factors matter as well.
  17. It's still corruption. Red isn't needed. Corrupted Awespren are black, Flamespren are blue, Painspren are green etc. Nightblood has some connection to Midnight Essence which is the result of some kind of corruption - Midnight Essence is black. We talked about a few posts back: Kind of. Midnight Spores and Midnight Mother are related - both use Midnight Essence, which is something like the term Lightweaving - a general way to manifest this phenomena in Cosmere. Nightblood is something different, the blackness is just Corrupted investiture. But there is some Connection between all those things - it has to be corrupted: Interesting. That might make sense because Yumi spoilers: I wouldn't throw out the possibility that Midnight Essence isn't also identityless, which would explain why it is so easy to Connect to it and influence it, and why it is black - thus connecting it to Nightblood and WoBs above. And of course, this WoB confirmed it's corrupted, and the one you've posted implies that as well. Nightblood doesn't form such strong bonds. He doesn't form any Nahel Bond or Luhel Bond. He does form a bond, which allows him to talk to the minds of people and if he feeds on you once, this bond grows a bit - but nothing on the level you propose. Shashara creating him means basically nothing for him - Nightblood has his own Identity, his own Breaths that can't be taken away from him. We know he leaks corrupted Breaths, we know he was black during the Battle of the Twilight Falls - before he killed Shashara. I don't see any reason why a spren would behave differently after killing their own Radiant - it would be no different from Radiant being just killed. It would be mentally more traumatic but nothing on the realmatic level is going on there that would turn it black/corrupted. Warbreaker ch 26:
  18. It seems that the rate of leakage is changing depending on the consumption. Treamayne found those quotes: We also see that as Nightblood's rate of consumption increases, the ratio of liquid to gas increases as well:
  19. They knew electrum was useless because they had access to unlimited Atium so they didn't bother with searching for electrum Mistings - if the whole all inquisitors even knew about it. That's why they've always treated Atium as a weird thing, a werid pair to gold that doesn't play by rules. If they even have means to know that Atium is an alloy - separating Atium from electrum might have been above their technological abilities and they just thought Atium is a pure metal. The knowledge of Malatium was hidden from them, the Vetitan's plate didn't mention composition of this metal at all (unlike the composition of electrum said in the Urteau) so they had no way of knowing what Malatium is. The description of electrum also said that it's not the power of Atium, which would be misleading to anyone trying to draw a connection between Atium Mistings and electrum one. No. God metals are burnable by anyone, but who is the "anyone" in question? I believe that anyone is referring to any Allomancers - all types of Mistings and Mistborn can burn any pure god metal, but not everyone in Cosmere can burn them. Only Lerasium can be burnt by everyone but this is just a side effect, a Mistborn burning Lerasium would do something different. God metal alloys can be burnt by only specific Mistings. No longer RAFO, it can be burnt:
  20. Quote: "There are metals of Allomancy which I have shared with none. If you are a priest of mine, working this cavern and reading these words, know that you will incur my wrath if you share this knowledge." Problem solved. True, the storage cave was in Urteau's Canton of Inquisition, Inquisitors might have read it but consider that they all believed that Atium was just a normal metal, just like gold was. They would have no reason looking for electrum Mistings or giving them Atium to burn, if they believed Atium and electrum are separate metals and that electrum is just a poor version of Atium, useless for Inquisitors. They don't possess the ultimate knowledge, quote from one of the WoB above: "Their experiments (very expensive ones) are what determined that atium (which they thought was just one of the sixteen metals) granted the Allomantic Temporal powers. What they didn't realize is that atium (used correctly) could steal ANY of the powers." Description on plates given by Rashek are not complete, they don't say anything about Atium not being a part of full set of 16, they have no reasons to suspect this isn't the case and even if they knew about metals like electrum and Malatium, they can't do anything with this knowledge without the approval of the Lord Ruler. We know that Vetitan had Steel Ministry offices but we don't know which Canton. They aren't equal, Canton of Inquisition is the most dangerous, but others have rivalry with them. Yup. No because they believed Atium and electrum were different things and what they believed in is important. They were searching for Atium Mistings not knowing those are also electrum Mistings - most obligators would not even know about electrum anyway, only those working in the Urteau's Canton of Inquisition would know, unless Rashek allowed this information to spread further - this is unlikely because Yomen looked like he wasn't even aware of duralumin and he was a high ranking obligator.
  21. I do not agree with all your statements here but generally it is in line with my thinking. But here is me being nitpicky: Or may have been after he was first used without becoming supersaturated - I believe he turned black after Awakening, becoming a pseudo god metal (like Vivenne's blade). Disagree. Being supersaturated is only one of few reasons he leaks investiture. I believe he started leaking after he was used for the first time and consumed Breaths. Leaking in my opinion is also associated with an imperfect vessel - steel in this case - just like spikes leak investiture so do Nightblood, but it may be that the more he has the more he leaks. But we don't have much on the detailed reasons for leaking. That's why I also combined it with second WoB: And because it's a cycle, it has to go back to the SR, where it came from. It goes in and out of the Spiritual Realm. Radiants don't breathe in Stormlight from thin air - air doesn't hold Stormlight. The same applies to Nightblood's smoke. Generally yes, but that black smoke would not be consumed by Nightblood. Kind of.
  22. You really don't have to worry about it in the Cosmere Discussion section, you need to only remember to avoid talking about books in the Spoiler Zone and to just warn if you want to talk about readings, like SA 5 prologue (preferably in the title, in posts that should be put in a spoiler box). In other sections, like in SA you can write without spoiler boxes all about SA (excluding readings) but everything from other books, like Mistborn, has to be put into a spoiler box. You have written rules just below the name of the sub-forum, at the very top of it: Nightblood is not 100% covered by aluminum, his handle is not out of aluminum and some of his investiture is lost this way - that's also the reason why he can bond with people, talk to them and possess them to kill. Secondly there was a year long war happening in between, Szeth likely participated in it, being always close to Dalinar on the battlefront. He probably has many opportunities to use Nightblood and leak more investiture. And when Nightblood is being used, some investiture is used and lost to fuel his Command directly - like with Divine Breath. Incorrect. Nightblood got full just by consuming Rayse alone, before he was able to touch Odium. At best whatever investiture was used to expand the Vessel's mind during Ascension is now gone, but that's still smaller than an Unmade. Did you forget what kind of gemstone can hold an Unmade? Not a tiny one in spheres, but a large one, like King's Drop, that was used to seal the Thrill during the Battle of Thaylen Field - the size of a child's head. The difference in volume is almost incomparable. Gemstones as big as that can hold so much more Stormlight than simple spheres. That probably should not be a big factor. He was unsheathed for a moment before Szeth picked him up. So for a short period of time - days, weeks, maybe a month or two - he might be able to consume much less than before, be he still cuts in all 3 realms, he still is deadly and he still corrupts investiture turning people into smoke, even if he doesn't consume them. Not really. Even if he can't consume, he still turns everything into a black smoke. As Treamayne has shown with quotes, he doesn't have to consume to turn things into a black smoke. He leaks something even when sheathed, he leaks more when he is used. He always consumes exponentially, which means the rate of consumption grows with every second when he is used - it doesn't matter if he is close to being full, this doesn't affect his rate of consumption. Compare it to driving a car while constantly hitting the gas pedal - it doesn't matter if you have a long road ahead of you with a wall at the end, or a wall just in front of you, you will still accelerate until you hit the wall. No and no. Nigthblood's rate of consumption is defined - the more he is used, the more he consumes, until reaching maximum he can hold. This also applies even if he is really close to being full, the time he will consume investiture is simply just short.
  23. That's it. Mistings can burn their base metal and its alloys with god metals. Mistborn can burn everything. So an electrum Misting can burn both electrum and Atium-electrum alloy.
  24. That was true pre-Atium retcon but this isn't canon anymore. Now it's that Atium Mistings were simply Electrum Mistings and that's it. No Mistings were "taken out" of Allomancy or Snapping mechanism - there is no need for it now. The tables are however human constructs, so they are flawed, filtered through the understanding of the characters in books. Pre-retcon WoB that you're talking about: Post-retcon canon:
  25. You don't need to put those things into any spoiler boxes in this sub forum - Full Cosmere spoilers are allowed here without restrictions. Only TSM spoilers (and readings but they can be in a spoiler box) are not allowed here (so please avoid using the term BEU until TSM leaves the spoiler zone). This didn't happen in OB but in RoW ch 111. However in OB Nightblood was feeding on Szeth and Lift when Dalinar opened his perpendicularity, feeding him enough to make him regain his sanity and talk to others. I propose that in that moment he fell into a food coma state (which Brandon mistakes for RoW moment). OB ch 119: However the moment Brandon refers to in WoBs, when Nightblood collapsed Dalinar's perpendicularity in RoW ch 111, Nightblood was clearly not satisfied and he kept draining Szeth's light at an alarming rate. He wasn't full at that moment and this is fine with WoBs because Brandon was not sure about it. I would not call that infinite investiture, a perpendicularity has a fixed rate of investiture flaw and Nightblood draws more than a perpendicularity can provide, thus he collapses it - just like with Aons. And he also probably just consumes the structure which holds 3 realms close together in the first place - just like with Aons. As pointed out by @Treamayne not every bit of investiture is sucked into Nightblood, some is transformed directly into corrupted investiture - the black smoke. Plus not everything was eaten by Nightblood - parts of Vessel's spirit web were spared and that manifested as bones in the Physical Realm. Nightblood sucked enough to kill Rayse but not every bit of Rayse. So yes, Nigtblood had leaked enough to eat a considerable amount of Rayse. The explosion that happened in RoW ch 111, when Nightblood touched Ishar's Honorblade, might cause him to lose some investiture too - we don't know what was the nature of it. I've found this WoB. Apparently a Vessel is LESS interested than an Unmade, so Nightblood doesn't need that much space: A Breath isn't the whole soul, a Breath it's innate investiture, addition to a soul. An average Rosharan has innate investiture as well, so I would bet that's more than 1 Breath of investiture, closer to 2 Breaths (if we assume a soul is equally invested to 1 Breath). Keep in mind, in Warbreaker Nightblood consumed hundreds of Breaths in the matter of minutes, he can fit whatever he ate at the Battle of Thaylen Field. We don't know how much he leaks but another factor to consider is the physical state of the investiture leaking out - it's a smoke, a gas but it behaves and is often described as liquid. He leaks liquid investiture directly from the blade, but because it's no longer under the immense pressure of all that stuffed investiture, it transforms into gaseous investiture quite fast. So the concentration of investiture might be larger than you think so (for comparison water is 1600x denser than water vapor - for in Cosmere comparison a sip of liquid investiture is enough to power Allomancy with comparable power to that of the Lord Ruler), larger than what he is fed on with normal souls. In the end we don't know, we can only speculate. Warbreaker ch 56: That is not needed. Nightblood probably can't hold millions of Breaths, that's a bit too much. It is not released into Roshar, it decays into SR and is recycled there. Just like when you breathe out Stormlight it will disappear into SR - it doesn't stay in PR.
