WoB you mentioned: You want to clone yourself, so there would be two perfect copies of you? Not just create a sentient being with the use of invested arts (Nightblood)? Well that's more complicated. Far more. So first let's think of a way to create sentient entities: Awakening - type 4 entities like Nightblood. Awakening - type 2 entities, Lifeless - they are self-aware. Giving them unsealed metalminds might cause them to stop being Lifeless Soulstamping? Just put a lot of investiture into something until it becomes self-aware/sentient. That's all I can think of now. Now how to make sentient object that is a perfect copy of you, so we need matching Identity and a body, and possibly few matching connections. This is going to be much harder. I was thinking about using aluminumminds with your identity stored there, but it wouldn't work. For example, Awakening an aluminumminds filled with your identity won't create a sentient object that has your identity and personality: So hemalurgy won't work here as well, as hemalurgy takes only a part of your identity, and it will have less identity than an aluminummind. Lifeless with access to an unsealed aluminummind? No, Lifeless already has its own identity, it will interfere. But he can store it, and then tap your. Then use unsealed goldmind to heal? That can result in something fully sentient with your identity, but I doubt it would visually change a body. Still he can get full sentience and be somewhat similar in Identity and personality to you (per 3rd WoB). So it's a possibility for sure. (huh, would Lifeless storing its Identity stoped being a Lifeless and become dead again? His identity comes from Breath, so storing it might case his some problems) Soulcasting can make a body like you have. Or Forgery (however Forged body will resist Awakening) Forgery is likely the best way to create a copy of you. You can not only forge an object/body to be like yours, but create a Soulstamp that forges into you, with your Identity, Connections, spirit web and your memory. This is the best way I'm sure works. The body can be made with use of Soulcasting, then it has to be Awakened to become a Lifeless/type 4 and Soulstamp it. And this is the way the first WoB presented. But if you want to play a god and create a new sentient species, then Hemalurgy is your way to go, just look at what Rashek did. Play with identity spikes and you might create something interesting, but you will have to kill a lot of people.

As far as we know, you don't store investiture in nicrosilmind, like Stormlight, what you store there is the ability to use investiture, the invested arts. You can store ability to use Feruchemical iron (that's what medallions do), Surgebinding, Sand Mastery, or Divine Breath. We don't know if you can store Stormlight or regular Breaths, so it's likely you can't compound investiture the way you think. Moreover we don't know what compounding nicrosil does. Does it create a copy of a power, so you have 2 separate abilities to be a Mistborn, or does it make it 2x more powerful, so you still have 1 ability to be a Mistborn but twice as powerful? We don't know that, and likely we won't know that till Mistborn era 3 or maybe even era 4. And mo, you can Ascend by compounding, too little investiture compared to a Shard, too much diminishing returns which waste attribute. Opening perpendicularity can be done, but becoming a Shard can't.

Could Vin and Ati have stayed Slivers after colliding?
alder24 replied to Mistchemist16's topic in Mistborn
She didn't merely surrender the power, she took it all into her, drawing it like Mists in HoA, and held all that power before giving it away. That expanded her mind and soul, leaving her permanently as a Sliver. Rashek didn't use Lerasium to became a Mistborn, he used power of the Well. That wouldn't work, just like Vin when she was Ascending, she had to get rid of her spikes first to be able to Ascend at all, in both cases. Investiture repulse investiture. Spikes are only a temporary change, and require blood to work, a Vessel doesn't have a body, no blood, no spikes, no blessings. As a Vessel you are more like a spren, and spren can't be spiked and given a power. You would have to be a non-human species, that has much greater cognitive capabilities than humans, like a dragon or sleepless probably, but even then the difference would be just just slight, and wouldn't give you that great advantage you are thinking about. There is just too much power in a Shard, and there isn't any mind that is infinite. WoBs on which I based this: SA spoilers. Edit: SA/Warbreaker spoilers:- 8 replies

If Ruin and Preservation no longer exist, why is there still Atium and Lerasium, which are pure Ruin or Preservation? And there is this WoB which specify where did name Harmony/Discord came from - it's about control over two opposing halfs: Your theory is good, it might as well be like that.

Could Vin and Ati have stayed Slivers after colliding?
alder24 replied to Mistchemist16's topic in Mistborn
Yes, they held powers of Shard, their mind and soul expanded, they were Slivers, Vin was a Sliver even before, when she Ascended in WoA. They could stay. They were dead. They were separated from their bodies, That means weaker control over a Shard, like Kelsier had. It's likely they could grab it, but they would be worse than they've been previously. Their link to Physical Realm was removed, and as a Shard they don't really have a physical body, so they couldn't just make a new one and attach themself to it. At best they would be like Kelsier, if the Shard would accept them at all. It's different. Their minds don't add to the power of a Shard. But a "greater", more expanded mind, can reach more power at once. Shards have nearly infinite power, but Vessel's mind can comprehend infinite power, they are limited to what they can access. So a being with greater mind, can access more power at once than someone with lesser mind - making him "technically" stronger. But they are almost all humans, so their minds are equal.- 8 replies

I'm scratching my head right now. So you are proposing that Atium alloys switch internal and external effects of metals? So would it mean that zinc/brass would allow you to manipulate only your emotions? Enhancement metals would just switch places and do the same? But as you point out, what does tin/pewter as an external metal would do? Or internal steel/iron? Internal speed bubbles might just manipulate your perception of time, without any bubbles or something. But those are just Atium alloys. What Lerasium alloys would do (for Mistborn, granting allomancy is not the primary effect of Lerasium), and how would that fit with your theory? What Raysium alloys would do? I'm getting ahead of this, but there aren't many switches like internal/external that can be done in a table as there are god metals. But that is a very interesting theory.

I've found the answer, Terris people rejected him. The Hero of Ages Epigraphs ch 65

I think it's because of Intent. During the fight with Inquisitors she had many more enemies to kill, so she kept drawing them in, and managed to draw all of them before killing Marsh. But in Fadrex she didn't have a need to draw them any more, as soon as Marsh ran away, she stopped. At this point she still didn't understand what was going on with Mists and her.

I think there is an easier way. Shardblade is already an alloy of two got metals, which explains why not everybody can burn them (like era 1 Atium was electrum-Atium alloy, that only a few selected ones could burn, not pure Atium). Alloy Lerasium with Shardblade or any god metal. What Lerasium does is forms a connection between you and Preservation, Lerasium alloyed with another god metal would form a connection with that other Shard. That's my theory, but there are WoBs of course to back it up.
-
I think it's less about connection to a world, more about connection to investiture and a Shard, to which god metal belongs. Like WoB said "A Mistborn isn't likely to have a tie to that type of Investiture"
-
Not exactly. They didn't die. They are something dfferent.

We don't know, he never mentioned using Bands. It was Sazed that told him Lerasium wouldn't work in his current state. And tbf, when considering ways for him to get his power back, he didn't even think about the Bands, which is weird, very weird: If they didn't work, he should be thinking about that here. If they worked, then he would already have a way to gain his powers back, but he only "hopes" to gain them.

Yes, you can join multiple Orders. You can bond more than one spren. And yes, being an higher Ideal Radiant decreases your use of Stormlight

A Steel Pushing and A Iron Pulling on Carbon Nanotubes
alder24 replied to Tea Leaf's question in Cosmere Q&A
Aren't carbon nanotubes made fully out of carbon? Which isn't metal. So no on that. Mercury is a metal, so you can push/pull it. You need to look on the periodic table and what is metal and what isn't, but not everything is pushable. -
No, Mistborn burning Lerasium would have a different effect than making him a Mistborn. This is not a main effect of Mistborn. Mists are Preservation's pure essence, Allomancer burning metals is drawing from Preservation power, but is limited by his spirit, his Allomantic strength. What Vin is doing when drawing in Mists, is fueling her Allomancy directly by Mists, without her spirit limiting the amount of power she can get, like what is normally happening when burning metals. Therefore her power is basically not limited as long as she has Mists in her. People don't have that kind of connection to Preservation to draw from Mists, so they can't do that. Vin was chosen by Preservation to be its next Vessel.

This is The Lost Metal spoiler. It's not allowed here yet. Delete it or put it in a spoiler tag. It's possible to burn a Shardblade/Shardplate, and it would do something Allomanticaly, but Mistborn doesn't have a connection to that type of Investiture, so he can't burn them just like that. About Shardblades being hemalurgic spikes, I don't think it matters that they are blades already, they will act like other god metal spikes and do something more than regular spikes. About the Dor, I don't think its god metal is an alloy of Devotion's and Dominion's god metals, Dor is a mix of their investiture, so it would be closer to Harmony and Harmonium, which isn't an alloy of Atium and Lerasium.
-
Compounding is burning metalminds like allomantic metals. So it takes some time to fully burn allomantic metals, duralumin burns them instantly and releases all that power, which you would get by burning that metalmind normally, in that moment. So the power you get by burning with duralumin is the same as by burning that metalmind without it, but but you get all that power now.

Read and find out. That's Brandon telling us he is not answering that question yet.

Spren are the splinters of Honor and Cultivation. Shard intentionally separates a tiny bit of his power and creates a splinter. This doesn't truly weaken a Shard, as their power is nearly infinite. Creating Cognitive Shadows like Fused and Returned also is done by deliberate splintering of Shard's power. Spren on Roshar were not created during Honor's Splintering. They were there before, they were there even before Adonalsium Shattering. They are made of Honor's and Cultivation's mixed powers. Odium has his own spren so he did splinter himself.

Those are not the only quotes about Harmony inability. Sazed himself write about it in a Third Letter from SA: SoS ch 8: Your theory has a point, Vessel can influence and even change Shard's intent by his actions and perception, at least to some extent. What I think is happening is that Sazed doesn't want to be as Ruinus as he is Preserving, because of his personal views (SoS quote). He is disgusted by Hemalurgy, he limits it, he acts more on a Preservation side, neglecting Ruin. He mentally holds to Harmony intent, trying as hard as he can to keep being Harmony, while all his actions are already disharmonious, favoring Preservation. In my opinion He already is Discord, but he tries as hard as he can to change it back to Harmony, or he might not even know that he is Discord now - very Similar to how Odium tries to be Passion. But he will fail, and realize the truth soon, because his actions aren't in Harmony, powers inside of him aren't in Harmony, there is more Ruin than Preservation, and Ruin is subservient to it. He already is Discord.
