  1. Ok, can I ask what the last 2 oaths she swore were? And what kind of impact they had on her? The more restrictive/difficult the oaths were to swear for her the more points they would take off. At maximum we are dealing with about 145 magic points, but if the oaths were more restrictive they would take away more points. I would say that the claustrophobia is worth about 20 points, assuming its triggered by spaces smaller than a hallway in a house, and that she can still kind of function in those kind of places. You can raise the value of the weakness by making it more crippling, or by increasing the amount of time it is triggered.
  2. "I killed him, My last employer, I mean. Forian. I killed him." "He wanted to frame my father for his smuggling. He told me it was the perfect solution. He was so proud when he told me, like he expected me to be impressed." She stood up suddenly, planting a hand on Mac's desk, breath coming fast through her nose. "What is it about me that would make someone think I'd be rusting impressed by that?" "I put cyanide in his brandy," she said quietly. "It was too good for him." "Hmm." Mac frowned. Thinking. She does have limits. Good. This girl could be very very good. "I'll find out whatever it is this organization wants to know, Just... when you create that new universe of yours, don't create another Forian Tekiel." She sighed, then raised her other hand. "Oh, and that pen trick in the bar. If it's not more than a pen, I'll eat my brassminds. I want to learn." Lita felt a true smile creep onto her face, the first in over two years. "I think I'd rather like to learn everything that I can." She nodded her chin at the slender needle. It shouldn't work, but it does. "Do you have anything else that shouldn't work, but it does?" "Yes actually we do. But first I would like to offer a warning." He leaned in. "Please don't try to kill me. I think you have potential. I would prefer to not have to utterly destroy that." With that thought,he carefully slid the needle into his neck, then began chirping. He nodded. "Good," he said, "Now, based on what you just told me, I will assume that you don't enjoy killing people wantonly. In that case, we won't start you out with hemalurgy, instead we will start you with the alleys and the mechanics of the alleyverse. Now unfortunately I cannot personally tutor you right now, but I can later. Once you've learned the basics, I will teach you how to alleytravel. Laurelai? Would you care to help our newest recruit learn the basics of alleymatics?" @Voidus
  3. But regrowth only has one function, one thing the surge can do. Other surges like gravitation, or soulcasting, or transportation have different things that they can do. A soulcaster can only really replicate one aspect of the surges, and I think that the other other radiant fabrials can do the same. As an aside, I think that soulcasters are the same as the other radiant fabrials. Both are defined as fabrials that replicate the surges. Another issue I ran into was making this aspect of the index consistant with the radiant portion. The value for each radiant is found using the sum of their abilities (Surges, stormlight, shardblade, shardplate). I made the use of the fabrials equal to that of the use of a surge by a first oath radiant. (So a first oath radiant would be 90 points. 60 for the weaker storm light healing and less efficiency, and 30 for use and little experience with both of their surges). If we raise the value of the surges themselves, I would have to raise the value of the radiants to go along with it. I figured that if the new index is kept, it would make people add as much as 60 points of weaknesses to their characters, in addition to finding out what oaths they swore and what broke their character. I didn't want to ask them to have to do more. If you guys want to raise it, or make different values for it go ahead. This was a rough draft, and the radiant section is a tough thing to iron out. Ok, so I would rate the power of the character at about 80. 20 for the shadow acid, about 10 for the investiture sucking, and 50 for the shape shifting. His weakness would be worth 15. Final value is about 65. I assume it has a human level of intelligence, which allows it to try to circumvent its weakness whenever possible. If that's not true please tell me. Do you want it added to the list? This character is good. Its about 85 magic points, and 30 skill points, do you want it to be added to the list? @Darth Woodrack is there a place where I can find all the updated bios of your characters? EDIT: I believe that I have caught up on character submissions. If you are waiting for a character to be approved, and have made edits to it, please re post it with the note that it needs to be approved. If you have had a character approved, but it is not posted, please re-submit the bio with a note that it has already been approved and a link saying that a mod approved it. Please check your slots on the character sheets, to make sure that they are up to date.
  4. Thank you for the scoring, I would like @Voidus to rank the second character if he has the time, not that I don't trust you, but that he has a system for ranking epic powers and weaknesses and it keeps all the epics on the same plane. As for the fabrials, a character would need to have a very convincing explanation for having a fabrial that isn't known to exist in modern times. In addition, fabrials that replicate surges are not as good as having the surge itself, as seen from a soulcaster. Also can voidus try to rank beans newest epic as well?
  5. Basically this, but I would subtract 5 for the first ideal that she swore, and I would also subtract a further 5 for scaring from her parents disappearance. I do disagree with bean the boys assessment of your weakness, I would say they take off about 35-40 combined. The low self esteem is worth a couple points more Imo with this character, and the willingness to die for her bird, but there is a lot of synergy with the weaknesses (like her low self esteem makes it more likely that she will sacrifice herself). Your characters final score would be 140. Yes, im getting around to do an adding spree for the last few pages of characters and the index changes.
  6. Being broken spiritually is the equivalent of having cracks in the spirit web. There needs to be some way for the investiture to seep in, some mechanism for it to get into the soul. Some level of being broken is necessary for any type of investment. Lopen if definitely broken on some level. Definitely not as badly as kaladin, but he is broken somewhere. People don't make it through the bridge camps without breaking in some degree.
  7. You can judge where a character is based on how much they've progressed and then used the corresponding point values. The truths should be pretty impactful, about as much as swearing an oath. This is a good thread for seeing the impact of truths on shallan:
  8. A one oath radiants power is at 90, but you need to factor in the inherent weaknesses of radiancy. Each oath you swear counts for a little subtraction, but this changes based on their oath. In addition, each radiant needs to be broken in order for the bond to form, so in reality, once you subtract 5 points for the first oath, and subtract the values for being broken, a first oath radiant could work out to about 60 points.
  9. Yeah sorry about that, I will go on posting spree when I get home, adding all the completed characters and updating the index.
  10. Just on the subject of the index, I would say that if we went down that path we would have to redo the index ratings for those abilities the current rankings allow someone to make a character like Jason write, which is definitely op.
  11. "And yes, yes I would like to accept your offer. Though, you'll forgive me for asking what that job entails? I understand that covert intelligence is, by nature, covert, but broad-strokes... what is it that I will be doing?" Mac sat back and thought for a moment. Then leaned forward and continued speaking. "Well," He started, "It really comes down to whatever you want to do. The role of intelligence in the DA is an interesting one. We don't really need a department of inteligence, at least not so far as the other guilds are concerned. Most of our members could destroy the alleyverse without a second thought. Our inquisitors are what inspired the lord ruler to create his feeble imitations. My mistbeaver inquisition was a reason that Adonalsium was shattered. Bob from Accounting playing a game of truth and dare was the reason that the Dark One was created. I could go on, but the point is, spies aren't as important to us as they are to the other guilds. Intelligence isn't needed in the DA, we have brute force. I mean, our founder has literally created a universe. I'm trying to figure out how to do that myself. But if you look at it from a different perspective, then intelligence is all the DA does. Our research teams try to find out as much as they can about the world. They, in a sense, try to preform intelligence against the world. Now to some, spying is a tad bit more exciting than science. I myself am somewhat undecided on the issue. But the intelligence that they bring in is invaluable. They show us where the limits are, so that we can push them, or pull them in. So that we can make ourselves gods." Mac trailed off, with a lustful look in his eye. Shaking himself he stood up and refocused, reaching out and warping a vial of blood to his hand. He walked over to the book shelf then back again, while removing a small needle from the vial. "This needle looks exactly the same as any other, but it gives me the ability to chirp like a cricket, something that isn't even anatomically possible. It shouldn't work, but it does. It's one of the worlds many secrets. So As far as I'm concerned, you can work on whatever you want. You can try to discover the worlds secrets, or the secrets of the guilds. You can do both, you can push the limits, or try to be an agent of change in the alleyverse, the only requirement is that you help the DA. I think that my domain can cover everything." He sat down and leaned in. "So tell me, where do you want to start?" @ZincAboutIt @Voidus
  12. Mac grinned. Here he was out of Sudiov's reach. Here he was a lion in its den. Here he was nearly a god. Here he could be himself, in control. And no one could stop him. He noticed his interviewee standing there tapping bronze. "Well, I'm glad you made it. Lets step into my office?" He opened the door and revealed an lush entryway, with bookshelves, sitting chairs, and platters of cookies. He grabbed a blanket off of one off the chairs and tossed it to Lita, then walked through the room and into an office with mahogany paneled walls. He sat down at the desk and motioned for Lita to take the other seat. "Now is the time for a more formal introduction. My name is Mac, with a single c at the end. I am the former department head of the DA Department of Counterintelligence. Now I just run the spies. And you are?" He paused to wait for her to respond, then continued. "We would like to offer you a job as an agent for us. Would you like to accept that?" @ZincAboutIt @Voidus
  13. As they followed him deeper into the alleys, he made sure they were close behind him. It wouldn't do to have them getting lost in the alleys he thought as he rounded another corner, walking into another empty, soundless, alley. Hopefully the path would remain clear this time. He was usually pretty good with Alleymatics, but last time he had brought someone in for the second interview via the Back Road he had to kill an eldritch horror that had set up a small cottage in one of the more narrow alleys. While it had raised a lot of questions, namely why did an eldritch horror want a cottage that was only 2meters wide, he had to kill it because it refused to move. In the ensuing fight, the spy had died. As he walked, the sky changed shades of gray. Sometimes it was a lighter, when they passed through the mediocrity lit alleys, other times it was a darker gray. The alleys themselves changed as well, at the beginning they were more normal alleys, the kind you find in a city. But in his quest to have a secret road to his office he often had to resort to some of the stranger alleys to find an unoccupied path. Thankfully there was no dimensional warping necessary yet. Most people didn't survive that either. He had turned out of alley #76, a soccer field, and into alley &*37, an unoccupied luxery spa, when he suddenly stopped walking and started looking in the cupboards. "Aha! Here it is! Follow me!" He climbed into the cupboard and fell down a short chute, popping out on the floor of an alley. This alley was like the first one, the kind that you would find in a city. The only difference was that this time there people. Bakers and scientists moving from place to place, to alley to alley, all beneath a sky so impossibly black that it drew you in if you stared at it too long. Literally. They were in the Dark Alley's proper. Turning around, he shouted up the chute, "Hurry up before the path closes! And don't look up for too long." He then walked to a nondescript metal door and waited for them to arrive. @Voidus @ZincAboutIt
  14. She is interested, He thought, and she will definitely make a good agent, regardless of the morals. He stepped up to a empty dark alley and waited for them to catch up. When they arrived, he started talking. "I can definitely see that you are a good find, and you have passed the first interview, care to join me for the next?" He said while stepping over a wrapper into the Dark Alley. @ZincAboutIt @Voidus
  15. I definitely agree that all the public worldbuilding for the universes should be done in threads, with the exception of things like a discovery campaign/universe. Or the horror, things where the lack of knowledge is a part of the universe.
  16. Mac's face fell for a brief moment, then he recovered. It was a less than a moment, but if this Lita was as good as she appeared, she would pick up on it. She was also of the opinion that the less limits a person had the better. He had phrased his question neutrally, as to not bias her answer, but she still chose that path. Would he ever be able to find a suitable apprentice? Mac grinned, "I imagine that what you see as rules and what actually are rules are quite different. The latter are notoriously hard to break, and I only knew of one man who succeeded by breaking them. But breaking what you and other people see as rules, that is good. That gives you an advantage. And I think that once you figure out what those rules are, you will be in a place to gain a lot of power. We can help with that." With that, he stood up abruptly. "Care to go for a walk?" He waved to Laurelai to follow and started toward the door, not waiting for a response from either. @Voidus
  17. Welcome to the alleyverse! I don’t need to use the index to see that this character is fine, I will post them post haste, probably in an hour. If you want a complete ranking I can give you one, but this is a good character.
  18. That should be good, together I would put them at 15 points. Do you want to add more stuff?
  19. That should be good, together I would put them at 15 points. Do you want to add more stuff?
  20. Sorry about that, yeah I forgot about it. Here are some thoughts, the shadow acid is going to be worth 20 points, it’s similar to division but can be flung around, in addition it functions without any stormlight. Then how similar is the draining investiture to a leecher? Is it anything similar or what’s going on with it.
