That could be very interesting. What if the gods had a bond with the people? Where they were bound by the peoples faith and in return they got amazing powers. Also @xinoehp512 for the mutability of the world it would be better for the CR to connect than the SR, because the SR is a set of perfect ideals and the CR is the part that's actually heavily affected by perception. An example is stormlight healing. It tries to heal you to the ideal that's in the SR, but is filtered through the CR. So they don't heal kaladins brands because he views himself as having them. I like where this is heading, but I think we need a more organized approach to this. We can start in one of two ways, the first is that we talk about what we want to do with the magic, and then we build a system around it, or we construct the fundamentals and make sure that they are solid, then we experiment through what we could do in RP with them.
-
Whatever we want. I would me more inclined to say that people's faith and belief can only affect existing things, and not create new ones. This way people could become great through peoples faith. Not necessarily gods being created.
-
Also don’t epics have problems using motivators?
-
That does raise a point, do we want to have God’s? If we do, what kind of god are they and how do they interact with the magic system. EDIT: what if the gods were people with the ability to create the crystals? Not founders of the universe, but born and lived forever, due to the magic sustaining them. They could access the power to fuel the magic.

I like the idea of linking the magic to the worlds mutability, but I think that it would be best if that wasn’t the main power. What if there was a branch of the ecology area that basically was like the nahel bond. People bond with aspects of the environment, and then they have the power to manipulate it to a certain extent. Other groups of people can influence the environment, but it’s less immediate because it’s a group identity and not a single person. I think that the fuel for the magic should naturally generate, but that certain innate people should be able to act as a conduit, fueling rituals via storing power in objects. I think that having multiple ways the magic generates is good, like one geologic way, one natural way, stuff like that.

Well, it doesnt actually make things easier. I would need to find out what type of metal steals what ability and where on the body I would need to stab someone with that spike to get the powe across. Without extreme healing powers I would need to massacre thousands of people to discover the hind points, the only reason why The DA can do it in the main alleyverse is because we have spent millions of years mapping spirit webs, and have a god as our founder.
-
Ok. Did you see the EDIT to my previous post? I have it quoted below in case you didn't.
-
I kind of assumed we would be to a certain extent, at least with the metallic arts because they shouldn't be limited here. Also so that people who want to can jump right in with a few metallic arts powers. I would also like to keep some of the themes of the DA present, like we are keeping the themes of the other guilds present. The DA at its core are bakers, scientists, have hemalurgy, and have access to the alleys. The alleys one would be necessarily limited, but I would prefer to keep the other ones if possible. That is true, but it would very well be possible steal the innate magic. I thought the innate magic would be more widespread, but weaker with more limited functions? EDIT: I think that at least grounding the magic system in cosmere mechanics would be a good idea, to try and keep familiarity. We can make the affects whatever we want, and I like kenods system for sorting the magic, but I would like to make sure that the base of the system is cosmere (like three realms, investiture is the thing that powers it).
-
The DA needs to be kept relatively low powered, because we have hemalurgy and thus have access to whatever we can steal from other people.
-
Ok, then in that case it could easily be skill not power.
-
OK. Here's an idea that I had using your framework. I want to try and have identity be a big factor in this world, so most of my ideas will focus around that. Each of the guilds has access to different manifestations of innate, ecology, and ritual magic. The DA's could deal with space/time/matter manipulation, the ghostbloods with something helping them with assassination, and something else for tuba and the keepers and the other guilds. The big thing would be that in world, people don't know everything about the magic systems. The in world scholars say that allomancy and feruchemy are examples of innate magic that anyone can access regardless of identity. The other versions of innate magic are based off of which group you are a part of. If your identity is a mix between two groups, you don't get access to either magics. This would be true of whatever level, innate, ecology, and ritual, you used. If you didn't have a clear identity, you couldn't access the magics. EDIT: One idea I had would be that the craftsmen or a similar guild (maybe keepers?) would have the power to imbune objects with energy directly, as opposed to having to find them naturally. This would then be used for the ritual magic.

Ok, I think we were thinking on different ranges here. I was assuming that you were saying that he could accurately snipe people from 500 yards with his hand gun, which is completely impossible. I would say that 100 yards would be the max distance at which he could raise the gun and shoot and hit a person. 40 yards would be the max he could have perfect aim.
-
The issue isn’t the back story, it’s the physics behind the gun. A hand gun, no matter how large, isn’t going to be accurate past a certain distance. The barrel isn’t long enough to have accuracy at those distances. You can interpret your accuracy as skill, but you need to the right gun for the job. Even the best military snipers couldn’t do what they do with a 1 foot long barrel on a hand gun.

I like that idea. One thing that could be interesting would be having the cosmere magic users be revered as like hero’s or heralds. Because the normal cosmere Magic’s dont really work well with out their fuel, the only one that would work would be the metallic arts, cosmere magic users would be rare. Like maybe 1 or 2 out of a hundred. The native magic system could make up another 8-9 out of a hundred people. Also what are we thinking for this new magic system? We could have something where the different guilds each have access to one acpect of it, one branch of the magic. Ark, as much as I love the keepers, I don’t think that they would get special poweres in this place. Their group identity is that they are terris. They are feruchemists. They would probably permanently remember themselves as a separate people from a different universe. In addition, their magic system is one of three that works in this scenario.

Describes me. So uh, looks like I’m not going to be taking a part in this.
-
Of course there are, but hemalurgy is the best at it. I think that for simplicity, trying to have most of the worldbuilding explained by sanderson magic is a good idea, with the fluff stuff being non sanderson, this allows people to become more integrated relatively easily.
-
So the second idea of edgedancers is to remember those who have been forgotten. Maybe it pushed her to see that she wasn't the center of her universe? This is just a suggestion, but imagine that through her punishment she began to feel sorry only for herself and no one else. Then she realizes that the other kids at the orphanage are suffering and sees them, or looses a friend and tries to remember them. Whatever happened, they were forced to have a character change and move away from a pity filled self centered life and onto a more selfless life. This is just a suggestion, if you don't think this would help her progression or fit with her character that is fine. I would be fine for adding like 10 points for the gun, if he has to change the ammunition every time. I have a hard time seeing how a gun that can fire all of these things can count as a small gun. Maybe a lot of small weapons that can achieve the same affect? I know a fair amount about guns, and I can help you make something very realistic if you want, but this a really weird gun. Below is a breakdown of what I would do. Also, the aiming thing would need to be a power, because even guns don't fire the bullet to the same spot every time.
-
I think we should try to keep the planning in public. But yeah, I love world-building fantasy areas.
-
While that would work for defining the areas, the spikes themselves would be singular spikes in a specific place. I would imagine instead of a spike stealing the guilds identity, and attaching it to an aspect of nature, it would just link the guilds identity and the aspect of nature, making it fluid and changeable.
-
I would like to be a part of this, so if any PM’s are created, can people please add me? Also, I figured out another way the land could be connected to the guilds. This could be a normal planet, but different aspects of the environments had the guilds identity spiked onto them, causing them to shift to how the guilds viewed themselves.

Yeah we still have the main alleyverse, this is just alternate universes.
-
No, the entire purpose of this is to simplify things on a lower level of play. Universe crossovers would defeat the purpose.
-
What would be kind of cool would be a wildly varying landscape based on what guild is most prevalent there. For example, in nature, the DA’s land would be very rough terrain, mountains, boulders, as city like as possible, but still very chaotic. In cities, the DA areas could be darker and filled with alleys. We could do something like that for the other guilds. Edit: as an origin for the world, we could have a team of super powerful channelers and elantrians that tried to shape the world to make it, they all disappeared shortly thereafter, with the only thing remaining was a few cookie crumbs.
