  1. Mac walked into the room, missing a bowler hat and a wrinkled suit. He grinned, and tried to tip his hat at the R&D member, then realized he didn't have one. He scowled then turned to Lita and Laurelai. "Laurelai, I see you are getting Lita sorted out with a few things. Thats good. The penguins have been contained again, so now I am free for a little. Once you get Lita sorted out I can teach her the basics of alleytravel, if you would like. Or you can do it." @Voidus
  2. My main concern with the academy is that I'm not sure if most characters will want to use ritual magic, so if the only reason that characters meet up is because they are learning ritual magic, then it won't be all that useful. I think that maybe we should wait for people to make their characters before trying to write up a plot to go in the world.
  3. Yep. Looks good. I do have one concern about the story, and think that we need to iron it out before we start RPing, and that is interaction between the characters. The world is very big, and generally could be pretty widely spread out, so I think we will need something to make sure that our characters meet up in world and start to interact. Whether its the start of a major plot, or maybe just a big fair that everyone in the area is heading to, we will need some reason for all the characters to end up in the country, and even these few cities.
  4. That is very true, but this mapping program wasn't designed to simulate an entire world. The other settings are archipelagos, atolls, and volcanic islands. When I found this mapping software, I was actually trying to only find something that was the size of maybe western Europe, because we don't need that much space. From what it sounds like, we are aiming for a more traditional European environment for classical fantasy, and not an entire world.
  5. I mean, the continental US is about the size of continental Europe, so I think that it is plenty of space to RP in. If we want more we can always change that, but I don't think that a group of 5-6 RP'ers is going to need that much space to RP. The culture's boundaries should be in flux, but I imagine that that whole bay area would have pretty similar cultures as well as being pretty interconnected.
  6. So I would like to kind of start ironing out the setting a little bit more. A lot of the work that people are doing could be applied to everywhere on the map, but I would like to iron out some more specific details, like how big of cities are we thinking, what is the life of people in the country like? Assuming we are going with Kuria, I would imagine a few things. The first is that the big thing is trade. The country lies at the mouth of a river that extends deep into the continent, so it should be a big way for people from the center of the continent to get their goods to the west coast. The second thing that we tossed around was that the fuel crystals grow naturally there? That could be a good idea, but I think that that provides people with too much of a reason to try and take over the country. If its a trading central and a magical hotspot we would need a big in world reason for other countries not trying to attack them all the time.
  7. @Steel Inquisitive Here is the water spell, and a write up of ritual magic. If you would prefer it in not speech form just ask me, but I think its a tad more interesting this way. Water: Ritual Magic: Here's a quick bit on the branches of Ritual Magic: Here's a little for the visual format of a ritual spell:
  8. I don’t think that ritual magic would be responsible for creating affects like that, but there is a lot of ways to get around that. It’s not just combining two things to make a provider, you can have as many reactants and products as you want, so what could happen is if you needed kinetic energy you could take it from the molecules in a fire, or from anything else producing heat. When you break down the physics of it, kinetic energy and heat are very similar, so those are transferable. What specific effects were you thinking of that you would need to use the magic to achieve?
  9. I think that’s just because everyone was new Then and the admins just kinda let it happen.
  10. You could never double post without consequences. The admins never liked it when that happened.
  11. 2. Ritual circles can’t go subatomic, they cant transmute elements from one to another, I think I mentioned that briefly in the beginning, but if they can transmute elements then it really becomes OP. I’m addition, then you could nuke things. If that was allowed then legit anything could be destroyed at any moment. You could sit in your lab and make the site of the fusion or fission 100 miles away and no one could find you? 3. You could possibly communicate your intentions via mental commands, but it would be difficult because you would either need to perfectly picture the symbols in your mind, or add in another circle that was targeting your thoughts and have those imputed as the target. Both ways require a ton of mental strength. I imagined the investiture crystals as a specific type of fuel, not as a general energy source. If we want to change that we can, but the way I pictured it was like stormlight. Stormlight can’t fuel awakening or the aondor wthout hacks. I was thinking that if you wanted to transfer the crystals into another form of energy you would need a separate ritual with the sole intent of converting the energy. In addition I would think it would be rediculously inefficient, because you are converting a high demand specialized recourse, into something that is everywhere. I said two giant objects because the bigger the objects the more electrons and the larger the charges. Air is a terrible conductor, so you need huge charges to make the lightning jump.
  12. But you still need to provide the ingredients. You would need to carry around the fuel to burn for the flame thrower. you would need to have objects with high kinetic energy to tranfer that you would need 2 giant objects to produce the opposing charge
  13. Can you share a few?
  14. The magician would need to be affected by natural magic in some way to have the power to do that I think. Ritual magic isn’t exactly something that can be used offensively, any magicians with offensive magic capabilities would have to use natural magic to a certain extent. I think that that could definitely work if the magician was a famed enchanter who cursed the king.
  15. I like Kuria as a center for our RP, but not not necessarily the center of the world. And I am also heading to bed.
  16. I just have a hard time believing that Kuria is the center of the world, like I think that it definitely could be a commercial center, but not the big center where a grand council of wizards would meet. We can obviously change that, but there are other countries that have a ton of population and much more land. Like to put this in perspective, Kuria is about the size of denmark or switzerland.
  17. You're welcome!
  18. Ok. Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't sure if you were saying sure thing to the more weaknesses or to the bronze. I will edit and post your bio now.
  19. As in you will remove the bronze?
  20. Dang that is some good conflict right there. I love it! I would say that that is about 50 points of weakness. You have a total of 115 weakness points, and 235 magic points. You still need 20 more points of weakness. Personally, I would removing the A-Bronze. It doesn't look that necessary considering he doesn't know how to use it really well.
  21. It doesn't give us a name. I don't care Personally. Here is a link to a doc with the stats of all the countries visible in the map I sent out. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13gwj97guJUcwiyxEC0BjADgzMEj17QhpBBkunYVkefw/edit?usp=sharing Kuria would have to be a big trading area for it to support a relative population of this size. Would maybe in Kuria be a place where the Leylines cross and the chrystals form? They export them as a national product? Finally, a slight tangent. I would imagine that the academy in Kuria is not the only one. I would think that there would be a lot of people who want to get a 10 year general magic degree, or a 15 year career specialization degree. I would have to look at the population densities and the rates of magic users in the world, but i think it could work.
  22. Here is the map file by the way if anyone wants to see that. fantasy_map_1552021645331.map
  23. Ok. Heres some information on Kuria. I has a population of about 1 million people and a area of 16,000 square miles. It has 10 major settlements, and its all within the same culture area as the surrounding countries so it would probably not have any language or religious conflicts. Im going to try and get a zoomed in picture of Kuria and the surrounding area set up. But my computer is not cooperating. Keep on checking back for edits. There we go!
  24. There is a quick start tutorial here: https://github.com/Azgaar/Fantasy-Map-Generator/wiki/Quick-Start-Tutorial Heres a map I came up with. I didn't do much beside click a few buttons, but you can zoom in on both of the images and see whats up. fantasy_map_1552021650271.svg What I did was create a bunch of countries, and delet large portions of that so that there are unnamed neutral areas
  25. Did you copy and paste the font from somewhere? if so where? and how can I get serifed fonts? Approximately how old is he? And He's trying to learn about ritual magic you said? I like him. I think that editing the map during the thing will be problematic, if you go to the site you will see that it is very laggy. I would suggest making a map and using that one for the foreseeable future, downloading portions of it and using those. The whole system is pretty annoying, but it is the best software ive seen so far.
