Quick Fix Game 29: Passionate Rationalism

Also one final question, Would we know any details about the death? Will we know that Alex was killed because of the anger rioter? -
Quick Fix Game 29: Passionate Rationalism
MacThorstenson replied to TheMightyLopen's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I just have a few questions about anger rioters, When Anger Rioters riot someone, do they get to choose who they attack, or will they attack whoever they were targeting for their original action. For example, if I riot an anger soother, will they attack whoever they were soothing that turn, or will I choose who they attack? Also, if someone is attacked, will they be killed? And finally, if they are killed, I assume that we will find out their alignment and role. Am I right in making that assumption? -
I seriously think that Brandon is under utilizing this concept

Hoid will become the new Adonalsium
MacThorstenson replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Correct me if I'm wrong, (I don't have access to oath bringer, and I haven't read much of White Sand), but when hoid uses the dust, (Minor oathbringer spoilers) That sounds different then what we've seen of sand mastery, where adding water to the sand produces energy, and you can only control that energy for a short time before it expands. Also sand being used for sand mastery is only seen to be white, and after its used, black. That powder that Hoid uses is colored, and it isn't reported to have turned color after he was done with it. I think that he is using yolish light weaving as opposed to rosharin (?) light weaving or sand mastery. -
The true name of the survival shard.
MacThorstenson replied to TheHeadHancho's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Wouldn't the desire to live long be encompassed by preservation? We see that he was upset by TLR's death and admired him for living so long.In order for it to be different from preservation, something would have to encompass that Idea of existing as long as possible otherwise I feel it is too close to the idea of preservation.- 15 replies

My thought was that because the Iron was being burned, the sDNA would splice with the gene for burning iron, not that of human strength. That splicing of the sDNA for human strength and iron allomancy is what would cause his ability to burn Iron to disappear.

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
Well, the reason that we need labs is to discover new things about the science of Hemalurgy right? If we build a lab in a black hole, we need to be able to send data out otherwise the lab is useless and we wasted all the time and money building it. -
Welcome to the 17th shard! Prof is IMO one of the coolest epics. As a welcoming gift, would you like a cookie? Also, what do you think of hemalurgy.

Welcome to the 17th shard!! Do you want a cookie? (dont worry, there are no spoilers in the cookie*) *DA disclaimer applies, see below for more details.

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
The impression that I got from the memo was that someone spiked a penguin, who using his new found intelligence spiked all of his brothers. Once they became self aware, we initiated lock down procedures so they couldn't escape. We didn't want another beaver-born inquisition, that was a nightmare. They tried to leave but found the doors locked. Naturally, in order to escape, they judged that the best way to break the fortifications was to build a death star. The death star is currently in construction. I'm not really sure how they are getting the materials, but they are building it. -
Welcome to the 17th Shard!! We are glad to have you! What is your favorite part of the cosmere? Personally I love the Magic systems. Also, as a welcoming gift, take an up vote and a cookie!!!

I'm also necroing this thread, but the alleys contain the beyond, yet are contained by the beyond. You see, if one knows how, they can access the alleys from and alleyway in the cosmere or earth. But the cosmere is theoretically contained by the beyond. So from that perspective, the alleys are contained from the beyond. But from my perspective the beyond is contained in the alleys. So It all really depends on your perspective.

Welcome to the 17th Shard! Here, take a cookie and a reputation point as a welcoming gift! Also a quick question, whats your favorite magic system in the cosmere?
-
The anonymous game Idea is really a great idea, we would also probably have to get rid of the reputation points. How successful was the location mechanic is QF8? It sounds cool, but really hard to implement, if people really liked it, then I think that it should be kept, but if not then completely get rid of it. I also had this idea where there could be a role that temporarily gets the opportunity to spy on the spammers doc, but the only way they can talk about what they found is by encoding it into their posts. The code would be set by the GM, and that person wouldn't be allowed to tell their teammates the code.
-
That does sound really awesome, if it were able to be run, it would need a lot of people tho.

Also, Honor could have made a commitment/oath to stay with Cultivation. If he made that oath before the shattering, and viewed it as a more important oath then the one he made with the other shard bearers, he would probably choose to honor his first and more important commitment. Here are the two quotes we have on this topic: The first quote makes it seem like they made a formal pact to stay separate, but the latter quote makes it feel more like an informal agreement to not settle near each other. If their agreement was more like the second quote, one could say that a formal oath supersedes that. The second quote also mentions interference, which could also imply that the pact that they made was related to disrupting another shards work or home. If you think of it that way, Honor collaborating with Cultivation would be very different then say, Ambition going to endowment, corrupting their investiture and screwing with their creations. Honor and Cultivation partnership wouldn't be against their agreement, but the second one would be.

Don't worry, when we find out who our boss is, we'll let you know. Also, all of their cookies are rotten, I don't think that they have baked a new cookie in years.
-
On a similar note, I believe that we have a WoB saying that investiture tends to pool into areas. If a shard invested its self enough to de ascend, the investiture would quickly gather, and another person could pick it up.

In terms of what the game looks like, I'm picturing 2 different things, The first is something along the lines of SE, where there is the forum, and a list of all the adventures that are going on. All of the adventures are largely separate from one another, and are run by different GM's. The thing that ties them together is the character sheets and some characters (worldhoppers) that jump between games. The other Idea was similar to the general open role play started a while back by The Village Idiot. One thread that has a single adventure running. If the first version happens, how many of the mechanics should be similar between the games, how much freedom do the GM's have, do they only provide plot and move the story forward, or can they introduce new roles and different mechanics. On a slightly different subject, I think that one thing that we will have difficulty deciding is how you advance in skill. I think that as the game progresses, you should be able to become a more skilled mistborn, a more knowledgeable elantrian or forger. How can we make that consistent so that a being a mistborn, for example, isn't completely broken because you can quickly rise through the ranks while becoming a much better knight radiant could take a lot longer? Also how do we determine what the max powers of a mistborn vs knight radiant are?
