Guesses for future prologue perspectives?
Extesian replied to PatronOfRot's topic in Stormlight Archive
Another possibility, for those who have heard the Oathbringer prologue reading, is The Voice. For those who have, I suspect it is -
(Edgedancer Spoilers) Similarity between Verdant and Wyndle
Extesian replied to Mercy's topic in Aether of Night
I love the summary and it makes me want to read Aether again. But I'm not sure we're allowed to discuss in this much detail outside the password protected Aether sub forum? There's a thread there that talks about some of this stuff. But I'm sure a mod will say if it's a problem Edit - urrrgh how awkward. I didn't realize my Aether password had been saved (it didn't in the past, I had to login each time) and this post is in fact in the Aether sub-forum. Please ignore me. I'll go hide for a little while again, nice summary- 6 replies

So much of 'common' knowledge of the cosmere is from here and his interviews and only ever hinted at in the books. No need at all to feel silly

Aah i didn't see this one, only the flashback one. Have a WoB I can see @maxal? The failed lawyer in me likes references

Guesses for future prologue perspectives?
Extesian replied to PatronOfRot's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm not sure we'll get Dalinar, he was blind drunk. If we do though it may be mostly the aftermath, but I suspect that will be one of his flashbacks in Oathbringer. I expect we'll see Gavilar's but i think in the 5th, I suspect the second arc prologues will be a different event. I think we may see it from Sadeas' perspective. Brandon has said we can see flashbacks from a dead character and he had a remarkable role on the night, for all his flaws he was the bravest one and probably closest in Gavilar's planning at the time. -
Perhaps the questions we should be asking now are around what certain people/institutions think about cognitive shadows (Silverlight universities, 17th Shard, Khriss herself, Vasher, Hoid etc). I'm not sure if it's purely an academic question but it could be useful in knowing the personality behind a supposed CS. A copy may act differently to the original.

We have a WoB on the effect on a hemalurgy donor, doesn't answer these issues but says a bit on the effect on the soul and the duration of time spent after death on the cognitive (if not spiritual) realm.
-
This is the one that really interests me. Firstly the fact that Cognitive Shadows are simply an in-world theory that some disagree with or at least think that the soul itself remains. There's been a lot of shard discussion on the definition of CS and it's interesting that the information we have may be objectively wrong, even when it's WoB. Also that someone who has had a soul stapled to their body would count as a CS. Would this just mean someone like (BoM/SH spoiler) Or would it also even include normal hemalurgy, with those using it effectively having a CS of the spiking victim(s) within them?

His Parshendi blood. I think either he will be bonded by a voidspren or, more likely, there will be attempts to wipe out Parshendi in light of the Everstorm and this will extend to racism against those with Parshendi blood like the Unkalaki (maybe not extending to the Herdazians though). But mostly because he's so awesome and the dark part of me wants to see him as a tragic lesson about fear. Btw I don't think Renarin will die, he's a second arc character. Brandon has said that we can have a flashback character who is already dead (so I could see it with Szeth) but I can't see it with a full second arc character.

Hmm there's a couple of references, not sure if there are others showing it's not all them. From Well of Ascension chapter 19 But yes hemalurgic spikes by themselves don't seem to do it. There must be a level that inquisitors and koloss are at that is based on type or extent of spiking.
-
Only WoB I'm aware of is this, which makes it sound like Inquisitors don't normally live that much longer unless their specific powers (eg atium compounding) allow it. I figure compounding atium is extremely efficient, TLR could only get it as it formed so he wouldn't have had much in the early days of the FE. On the hair issue Don't hemalurgic constructs have a general issue with hair? We know kandra can't grow it, only incorporate it into themselves. We know koloss are bald (I believe?). We know inquisitors are comparable to koloss so I figure Marsh doesn't grow hair because it's not possible for anyone with a certain level (or type) of hemalurgic alteration. quoth Brandon...

This is a recent WoB that gives your answer

That sounds like a sword that can do more than kill individuals. And that's on a planet where investiture is hard won. Put Nightblood on a planet where he can either eat investiture from inside a highstorm or at least be fed by thousands of invested stones, he sounds like a weapon of mass destruction, not just a weapon that's unstoppable 1 on 1.

It's not bad, most of humanity on Scadrial has your DNA! Evolutionary win! Whereas I'm ardently opposed to mine. I love politics and possessions.

Ignore each and every punson who feels the need to puncil in every pun they can puncover. No punishment is great enough for the reckless punters who punverwhelm these puntroduction threads with punnery. It's punbelievable. Welcome! It gets better from here

Doesn't get much more relevant! So more than being a focus, it's kind of a filter, which I guess applies to the systems on Scadrial (through metals), Roshar (through spren) and Sel (through Aons/soulstone/Dakhor bone shapes). Then I guess the systems on Nalthis and Taldain don't have those filters but instead use something local to activate the flow of investiture (color, water from the body) and intent to give command to what the investiture does.

Thanks @maxal that was my understanding. If there is any recording of the Q&A I'm happy to transcribe that but unless a mod says otherwise I won't do the reading.

I am happy to do this, I'm a pretty fast typist (typer? typister?) but may not get around to it til the weekend. If anyone will be quicker I'll take a backseat. I haven't been able to listen to it yet, does the recording include Q&A? Also is it kosher to transcribe and publish a reading? I thought I remembered some 17th Shard rule that we're not supposed to without Team Sanderson permission.

Maybe this has been ruled out before but I figured the Dawnshards were probably the Honorblades. The Shards that were at the dawn of 'modern' (post-Adonalsium) Roshar. They were 'lost' long before Honor's death. Or is that too simple? I would like your idea to be right though. It has a certain elegance.
