[OB] I need emotional support (spoilers)
StrikerEZ replied to Winds Alight's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Winds Alight I can totally relate to your frustration. Right after Elhokar became more sympathetic, and right when he’s about to become a Radiant, Moash, the bastard, comes out of nowhere and kills him. I had to set the book down (of course, when I first read it, it was on my phone, but that’s beside the point) and go eat. It killed me holding in the rage and emotion as I talked to my little brother, also an avid Cosmere fan, and tried not to mention his death. -
17S Holiday Giveaway: Bridge Four Pendant From Badali!

Storms yes. Gimme! -
Well, I just went back and reread the part you’re talking about, and the way it reads, not just the vengeance part, but what comes before it as well, it sounds like Spark wants vengeance on the humans, not the spren. If anything she (Spark is a girl) is more on the side of the spren, even those who are bonding humans.
-
But I like Spark. Even though they’re with the Diagram, they’re so cool.

How about we don’t kill any spren?

Wait, how many have I had? I don’t think I’ve had that many. Unless I missed some in an episode I didn’t listen to. Anyway, I don’t know you very well, though the name Silva does sound familiar.

Yeah, I can tell. I’m pretty excited for the next book(s). Good reactions: The battle of Domai’s Wells (I don’t think I spelled it right). Plus the entire buildup to that battle. It was all super intense, from the confrontation between Rand and Merana up to Rand getting captured by the Tower Aes Sedai and then Rand breaking out of the cage. I really loved that part of the book. I thought it was really interesting that Egwene became Amyrlin. I kind of expected it, after she had that weird dream (or was it when she was becoming Accepted? I can’t remember) about being Amyrlin. I’m really interested to see how this affects her in the future. I loved seeing Min and Rand interact. I’m a sucker for good romantic scenes, and those were so good. The Asha’man. They’re so cool. I just wish I knew them better; I can’t remember any of their names, besides Taim. Taim. I know I shouldn’t, but I really, really, REALLY like him. He’s so cool. The fact that Nynaeve figured out how to heal people who have been stilled. I’ve always found Logain an interesting character, so I’m excited that he’s been healed and is on his own again. Bad reactions: Robert Jordan, except in rare circumstances, does not understand female characters. He treats them as if their thought processes are almost completely alien to those of male characters, which is not the case. It definitely feels that way reading their viewpoints though, which makes it really hard for me to enjoy any of the female characters, besides Min and Aviendha (Aviendha is my favorite female character, and Min is pretty great when she’s not acting like an idiot while fawning over Rand). Elayne and Nynaeve are the worst. Like, I hated how Elayne treated Mat the entire time they interacted, from when he arrived in Salidar to the travel to Ebou Dar (I actually hated Elayne during this part, and I don’t think I’lll be able to forgive her actions for a long time; even her explanation of why she did it in her PoV chapter afterwards was so stupid and petty) to completely ignoring Mat while they were in Ebou Dar. Why are all the Aes Sedai so petty? They supposedly pride themselves on being so much better than everyone else, but they just read like spoiled brats to me. Especially Elaida. The beginning was way too slow. You could cut half of the scenes with Nynaeve and Elayne at the beginning and it would work so much better. There were many problems with this book, mostly character issues, but I really liked the ending, so we’ll see how future books go.

Hello. Would you like to destroy some evil today?

The part I bolded is kind of a weak argument, if you ask me. This is a freaking Desolation, they need as many Radiants as they can get, which is hopefully a lot. Whether or not Adolin becomes a Radiant isn’t going to make a huge difference on that number either way, but I don’t see how him becoming a Radiant is a bad thing. If anything, it’s a good thing; Adolin’s already a really skilled fighter, and having another super-powered fighter is always useful. Plus, it would help relieve some of the spren’s doubts about bonding humans if they see that it’s possible to revive deadeyes.

@Ookla the Gralsritter @ScarletSabre @goody153 @daschaich I know it’s been awhile (I had tons of band stuff keeping me from reading), but I just finished book 6. And holy rust.

You’re welcome! And I applaud you for being brave enough to come on here and risk seeing spoilers when you were that close to finishing the book.

"Things you may have missed" in Oathbringer?
StrikerEZ replied to Jofwu's topic in Stormlight Archive
She didn’t know about Yelig-nar at the time. Yelig-nar was probably following Aesudan around, so there was no way Shallan could’ve known he was in Kholinar. -
@turtle373 So, Shallan doesn’t really have multiple personality disorder or anything like that. She is just using Lightweaving, taking something that most people do, instinctively changing how we act around certain people to make ourselves better, and acting as a new person. Veil and Radiant are still Shallan, even if she doesn’t want to admit it. So I don’t think that one of them could switch to team Odium without the others knowing.

What is this and why is it a thing?

Anyway, I think we’ll see lots of random characters popping up as Radiants, kind of like what happened with Malata coming out of nowhere (side note: I want to see more Malata). I wouldn’t be surprised if we have at least a dozen new characters that have come forward as Radiants during the year gap. We’ll probably several more Windrunners coming out of the bridge crews. There’d hopefully be even more Radiants, considering this is a Desolation, but Brandon’s been very stingy in making people Radiants, and I don’t think that will change very much. I’d be happy to be surprised, though. Here’s some specific characters I want to see become Radiants: Adolin as an Edgedancer. Literally anyone else could/could not become a Radiant for all I care, as long as he does. I’m definitely expecting Rysn to become a Willshaper. I really like the idea of Rlain becoming a bondsmith and uniting the humans in Urithiru with the Listeners that managed to escape to the other end of the Shattered plains, possibly with the help of Venli and any Singers she can convert to team Honor. I could see Rock becoming a Stoneward because he kinda fits the little bit we know about them. I’m also a fan of him becoming a Bondsmith, becoming king of the Horneater Peaks since he’s a Shardbearer now, and uniting the Horneaters and everyone in Urithiru. I don’t have any other specific characters I want to become Radiants.

@Soby It’s been almost a year since the last post in this thread, nice necro. Anyway, you did bring up a good point. However, I would first like to point out that Honor is the Almighty, so I find it unlikely that Odium was able to corrupt or influence him to a noticable extent. It could be possibly that Odium corrupted the visions themselves, but I think the Stormfather would’ve known if he was giving corrupted visions. Anyway, I don’t think Honor knew who exactly was gonna be receiving his visions, as he kinda had the Stormfather on autopilot, where the Stormfather was just giving visions to anyone and everyone who could possibly meet the requirements of becoming a bondsmith. Honor couldn’t have known that Odium would try and turn Dalinar, who he wouldn’t have even known was gonna receive the visions or could even have guessed would have such a large connection to Odium, to become Odium’s champion, though.

I got first chair at all-region today! *insert dab* -
Yeah, that’s kind of the point. It is totally possible for someone to adhere to the oaths of multiple orders. It’d just be highly unlikely to find someone who could fit both orders, could attract both the spren, and could progress through the both sets of oaths.
-
The whole oath-swearing thing is a part of Sugebinding, so of course the rhyshadium and other animals on Roshar that require spren bonds to live (that’s a lot of them) wouldn’t need to swear oaths to bond the spren. The only time oaths are necessary to bond a spren, that we know of, is when bonding Radiant spren. As for multiple Radiant spren bonds, I could totally see someone being both a Windrunner and a Stoneward. It’d be hard to bond multiple spren, but we’ve already seen multiple cases where two spren of different orders were arguing over a proto-Radiant, so that person was definitely able to act as if he were in both orders. Wyndle tells Lift at some point that he had been originally planning to bond a nice shoemaker, who is presumably Ym. If Ym ended up bonding a Truthwatcher spren, but was also attracting a cultivationspren, I don’t think it would’ve been that hard for him to bond both.
