I’m not saying that they didn’t know. Obviously, with thousands of Radiants all planning on breaking their oaths, the spren would’ve been aware. My point was that I don’t think the spren agreed with the Radiants’ decision to break their oaths. Spark’s whole point of getting revenge wouldn’t make much sense if she was faking hating the humans for what they did like all the other spren.

@Braizier Dude, this is awesome!

I don’t know how you can think she won’t have more effects on the story. To me, while reading OB I felt she was being set up to be important in later books. Probably not as important as, say, Kaladin or Dalinar, but probably as important as someone like Teft or Lopen, at least. Especially considering she was last seen heading towards the Horneater Peaks, which we know are gonna be important for multiple reasons. One, Rock is now the King of the Horneater Peaks. And two, the Horneater Peaks are the location of Cultivation’s Perpendicularity, which is really important for Shadesmar travel/warfare. I’m already imagining Rock heading to the Horneater Peaks to take his rightful place as King, and then teaming up with Vivenna and his people to fight off the Fused, assuming those decide to enter the Physical Realm.

Personally, I think the reveal in OB was just a part of the picture. When you have Honor raving at all the Radiants that they will destroy Roshar, just like they did Ashyn, and the Radiants discover proof of their abilities, plus the lobotomization of most of the (though the Radiants would’ve assumed the entire) Singer population, who were the original inhabitants of Roshar, I think many people would be would be pretty sure that the Radiants could easily destroy the planet. Plus, there were already divisions amongst the Radiants, so it wouldn’t be too long before they started fighting each other and caused tons of damage. And as far as they knew, after the False Desolation and imprisonment of BAM, they could’ve figured that there would be no reason for them to stay and fight anymore since their enemy couldn’t even fight back. The one thing I don’t think happened is the spren being in on it. I know a lot of the spren from that time were killed in the Recreance, but you would think that they would tell the spren that were not bonded to Radiants at the time, and that those spren would tell the other spren that it had been the spren’s decision, not just the Radiants’.

Definitely Venli. Give me all the Venli. I could read an entire book with just Venli PoV. okay, not really, but you get the point Next up would have to be Adolin and Kaladin. Adolin because I really like his character and I want to see his relationship with Maya grow more. Kaladin because he’s storming Kaladin. Then Rysn (I know she’ll probably just stay as an interlude character for now, but I’m dying for her to become slightly more important in the future). I’d love to get some Malata PoV, just to see her side of things. I really love seeing things from the perspective of the ‘enemies,’ and Malata seems insteresting even if she wasn’t an ‘enemy.’ Oh, can’t forget about Rlain. I so want to see him helping the Listeners who escaped being turned into stormform and have escaped to the other side of the Shattered Plains. I could totally see him and Venli working to unite those Listeners and any Singers Venli manages to turn into one huge Singer/Listener/whatever their species is called force against Odium, and then the two of them showing up in the final battle to save Dalinar and co.

Like Calderis said above, it’s much more likely that it’ll be one of the Songs. Eila Stele wouldn’t grab potential new readers’ attention that much, and something like “Song of Secrets” would be much easier to pronounce and remember.

@The Grumpy Elantrian The magic used by the Ashynites, while similar to Surgebinding, was not the same: (Emphasis added by me) Plus, while we know the magic system wasn’t always disease-based, it can be safely assumed that the magic system we see in the non-canon Silence Divine reading we have is pretty similar to the way it was before it changed and, therefore, not Sugebinding. As for the Fused’s abilities, we have less concrete information. @Calderis would explain this better, but the gist of the theory I support is that the Fused are just Surgebinding (with only access to one Surge) and using voidlight to fuel that Surgebinding. What the Fused do seems way too similar to Surgebinding to be Voidbinding, in my opinion. Unlike for Renarin, who appears to have completely unique abilities with at least one of his Surges.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
StrikerEZ replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When your stomach is growling and you think you might hear the Rhythm of Hunger from it.... -
Now that you mention this, I can totally hear it now.
-
Yup, it is. I’ve always wondered that as well, but I’m sure Brandon can find a way to make it work.
-
You might be onto something. Here’s the relevant part from the book: So, she doesn’t specifically say sword, so it could theoretically be not Nightblood. I think it’s most likely Nightblood though, considering Blade is capitalized, which usually implies a Shardblade or similar sword.

I’m most excited to see more of Vivenna because I really liked her in Warbreaker and she seems even more interesting as of OB. I think it’d be really cool if, like @Toaster Retribution said, Rock meets up with her in the Horneater Peaks. It’d be funny if she did the kata thing and Rock did it with her (assuming Kaladin taught Rock, which I do think he did). Besides for that, I’m sure Rock will mention Kaladin at some point, and Vivenna will probably freak out a little at that.

Is there a point to Sebarial?

You know, I’d never thought about it, but you make a good point. Where are my superpowers, too? And would I only get half the potential superpowers? -

I feel like Kaladin at least deserves an honorable mention. Like, even if you don’t really like him as a person, his depression is just written so well. It’s super easy, for me at least, to relate to his struggles with it. Plus, he’s awesome. And while he does have some prejudices (telling Lyn should be a scribe, or saying it’s weird that Drehy is gay), but he’s willing to work to change (letting Lyn train with Bridge Four, or his conversation with Rlain about what it’s like to be a Listener). -
First, I would like to preface this by saying I completely agreed with the first part of your post. As someone who (possibly) suffers from depression, or at least something like it, I thank you for putting to words what I knew but couldn’t find the words for. As for the relationship part of your post, I also agree with that. I do think that both Jasnah and Kaladin work really well as individual characters and could still grow and learn from each other, outside of a romantic relationship. However, while I don’t think this is necessary, I feel that they could get into a romantic relationship, if the circumstances were right. Neither of them needs to (which is what I believe you were upset or at least annoyed about), but I think it’d be nice if they did get into a relationship. It’d certainly provide an extra layer to their characters. Ultimately, I do agree that they don’t require a relationship to temper each other, though I think it would help at least a little bit. And I think as long as people acknowledge the fact that neither of them needs to be in a relationship, it’s completely fine for people to be shipping them.
-
I personally agree with @Razrback16 about this. I think that Jasnah, if she were open to the possibility of romance at all (and assuming she isn’t lesbian or asexual), would be pretty pragmatic about age. I doubt Kaladin would care much either. Of course, maybe that’s just me pushing my opinion onto things, because big age gaps in relationships don’t bother me all that much.

@Dalakaar (awesome username by the way) @Kon-Tiki Here’s the current plan for the flashbacks in the back 5 (plus WoB confirmation of books 4 and 5): This has been the schedule he’s said the most often recently (this WoB is from the start of last month and is the most recent I’ve found), though the order could always change by the time he writes these books.
-
@Harbour Your post got me thinking. Even if Kaladin and Jasnah don’t go romantic, I’d totally love to see them work together in raising Gavinor. It’d be so funny to see them bickering whenever he’s not around, then when he shows up they stop bickering and work together to raise him and stuff.

I really liked TLJ, so I’m excited to see where this one goes. -
Hey, I have either Shardblade or plate now! I’d definitely take the Plate.

My thing is that I think that if the Nightwatcher couldn’t understand how to make forgivenesss a boon, how the hell would she be able to understand capacity as a boon?

@Ixthos Ash will bond an Ashspren and turn people into Ash.

[OB] Which death took you most by surprise?
StrikerEZ replied to dantlee's topic in Stormlight Archive
How can you be so heartless? Like, why would that be something to cheer for? -
The timeline gets really close at that point because both Dalinar and King T went to the Nightwatcher after Gavilar died. So, we don’t really know when King T went, but I could easily see him going some time after Dalinar went, which would mean that Cultivation was telling the truth to Dalinar, and then also intervened for Taravangian. The Diagram and Tarvangian’s boon/curse just seems to perfect and complex to simply be the result of the Nightwatcher.

As a bisexual guy myself, I could totally see Adolin and Kaladin being at least bi and falling for each other. Several times while in Kholinar (and throughout the book) Kaladin defends Adolin, saying stuff like “he’s such a great guy if you’d just get to know him,” and there’s other stuff I can’t remember off the top of my head, but I could totally see a relationship pulled off between them. Assuming all the stuff I’m thinking of isn’t just Kaladin and Adolin thinking of each other as like best friends/brothers. Of course, I don’t think the relationship is ever gonna happen, considering who Brandon is. But that doesn’t mean I can’t still ship them.
