  1. Kudos for saving Zane!
  2. Maybe lovespren? or passionspren (which we know exist)? On Shiver's point, the significance of a burnt offering lies not in the smoke but in the destruction, in giving up something to God and so losing it yourself.
  3. Your chapters are beautiful. I eagerly look forward to introducing you to my Orre. Should I post in this thread or make a new one.
  4. Me too. Doesn't Tavarangian say that he was given the Blade after being cast out?
  5. Something else we're forgetting: burning a prayer doesn't create writing, it uncreates it. So the effect would be related to releasing the spren, not binding it.
  6. The only problem is that the very nature of a focus dictates that it must be involved in every use of the magic system. So if writing is the focus, all forms of Surgebinding would involve writing. And i think the significance of burning the prayer lies in the sacrifice or destruction of it. Kind of like how you have to kill something to get rid of your sins, you had to destroy the prayer to send it to Honor.
  7. My sister has something a little like this. She writes (not types) in Greek letters. She also posesses the power to turn traffic lights green at will, and others that i can't think of right now. EDIT: I've just remembered another power of Rebekah's: Random Spren Attraction. Just since I've started paying attention, she has encountered windowspren, popcanspren, and two sentient spren: a mailboxspren named Murray and an elevatorspren named Otis.
  8. There are two main problems here. First, the Blades that the Heralds bear are not ordinary Shardblades, they are something special called Honorblades. Second, the Radiants bore the Blades for millenia, and Roshar was far more united then.
  9. Has potential, mostly because of the nice contrast between the best of circumstances and the worst of moods. Need to explain why she's in such a bad mood, though.
  10. Thank you for bringing that up. I think the prevailing theory there is that with the right knowledge, you could gain any Shard-based power.
  11. Unfortunately, neither of these is true. The Mistborn RPG states that you can only benefit from Lerasium or one of its alloys once, after which it has no effect. In addition, it is stated that if a Misting burns a Lerasium alloy for a power other than his, he loses his orginal power. Both of these statements are second-order canon, so you'll have to find a direct Brandon statement to disprove them.
  12. One thing we know was used in the desolations is the Thunderclasts, which seem to be animate stone. Those things would be almost impossible to kill with a physical weapon, but a Blade would be perfect for fighting them.
  13. Yes, his father's name is Naturo.
  14. Only problem is that all full Radiants once carried Shards, so the Shards couldn't have scared off the spren.
  15. But none of these specifically have to do with the magic.
  16. No, Ironeyes makes you cry.
  17. I strongly suspect Adonalsium is the power of Brandon's imagination, the ultimate source of all things Cosmere.
  18. Actually, we're pretty sure Devotion and Dominion are paired.
  19. Hemalurgy always loses power, so i suspect that either: A: Nothing happens, the new spike is not charged. B: You drain the Kandra's Blessing, so you have exactly as much Hemalugic charge as before.
  20. Ooh, I have an idea. What if Honor created the Shardblades by trapping some of Odium's power, the way Preservation did with Ruin? Furthermore, let's assume that as long as the Oathpact holds, the bit of Odium in the blades is inert and can't corrupt the user. But at the Recreance, the bit of Odium was released to twist the wielder. So the Blades are of Odium, but Honor intended them to be "safe".
  21. Harmony could fuel Wax's pewter allomancy directly, the same way Vin did with Elend. That doesn't need any metals.
  22. They didn't. Ati had red hair, Leras black.
  23. I think that was a side effect of the fact that TLR provided the Blessings, so you couldn't get a new one except by getting it from a dead kandra (or a koloss).
  24. I strongly suspect that the earring grants the ability to burn pewter, because there is a scene in the final battle where Wax gets a mysterious surge of strength, and the description is almost identical to when Vin burns pewter without knowing it.
