I think my real Talent is doing incredibly stoopid things, but with the side power of somehow being protected from the consequences of my stoopidity. So I could charge an entire army and not get seriously hurt.
I don't think fish have enough of a Spiritual aspect to access the magic, just like there are no wolfhound or horse Allomancers. Llamas appear to be an exception to this rule.
It is possible that first dahn is exclusively for the kings and higprinces, so that as Highprince, Dalinar is a dahn above everyone else in his family.
I actually put some thought into that and came to the same conclusion: Gold remained the basic currency because it already was a precious metal. Same for copper clips. Note that apart from atium (which is used as a currency), all the major Allomantic metals are extremely common.
