  1. Yes, very probably true. On the other hand, how does this fit with Interlude 2 and Section 5, when he's in the same room with the stone and doesn't know it? And in Interlude 2, the stone actually does change hands without him knowing. Also, it makes perfect sense that he would report back to the holder of his stone for further orders, and be on hand to see it discarded. I agree.
  2. Well, we know that the Nahel bond grants Surgebinding powers, we know that Soulcasting is a form of Surgebinding, and we know that the symbolheads have something to do with Soulcasting.
  3. By Occam's Razor, that probably is just because any language will have those concepts.
  4. Well, then what happens when an Oath is predicant on conditions that no longer exist?
  5. The reason Szeth can't use Plate is that he'd drain the gemstones that powered it when infusing himself. There are a couple of theories on how the Radiants got around that, including the idea that Radiant Plate didn't need gems, and the idea that Radiants could somehow leave out their stones.
  6. Appearantly, the bad duralumin recipes were close enough to count as impure aluminum or duralumin, not a completely unburnable metal.
  7. I'd bet that the nahn set a maximum level for what jobs you can get. In other words, Tien (2) could become a carpenter (5) but not, say, a master-servant (1).
  8. ATTENTION! *grabs Oath Rod, channels Spirit* Under the Light of Jesus Christ, I vow that I will write no word in this post that is not true. I have finished The Great Reread, reading each book, and each chapter, page, and paragraph thereof, reading them in the correct order and in the correct timespan.
  9. And now that tension has been removed a bit, since appearantly being in the presence of the full Dragon Reborn causes Darkfriends to be struck blind, meaning they can no longer hide.
  10. Some thoughts on negative effects for the eyes: Red-causes you to gradually lose your humanity, Extremely frequent usage essentially cause you to turn into an animal. Purple-makes you more vulnerable to sickness and diseases. Alternately, every usage incurs a corruption similar to the taint on saidin.
  11. Actually, we will eventually.
  12. Wrong. Allomancy is of Preservation because you yourself are Preserved, not having to give up anything to get the power. Feruchemy is of both Ruin (Ruining yourself by giving up an attribute) and Preservation (having the attribute Preserved in a form that you can get at later). This is explictly confirmed in the Mistborn epigraphs.
  13. I think I have an even better explanation: When Kabsal spent all that time with Shallan, he wasn't just digging for information or trying to poison Jasnah, he was also sounding Shallan out for recruitment. Rightly or wrongly, he believed that Shallan could easily be persuaded to join the Ghostbloods, and that's why he left her alive. Can you imagine how much the Ghostbloods would like to have a natural Soulcaster? Not to mention that as Jasnah's ward, Shallan could probably get at all her notes and papers. Plus, I really do think Kabsal was a little bit in love with her.
  14. I'm guessing he's got the original base. I think that's the "element" he spoke of in The Letter.
  15. I'm afraid you are wrong on several particulars of Allomancy. First, there are sixteen ordinary metals that have Allomantic properties.Second, each God metal has either sixteen or thirty-two alloys (either 1 or 2 for each metal, Brandon has hinted at two). The rule of sixteen is confirmed by Brandon himself. Also, as I pointed out above, I have reason to believe there are five kinds of BioChromatic entity, not four. While you are probably correct in there being four ways to access the Dor, (there is a fourth confirmed magic system on Sel, but we don't know which Shard fuels it), it is about as certain as it's possible to be that Devotion is behind AonDor and Dominion behind Dakhor, and that undoes your balance. Finally, this half of your post seems to argue for my theory while the first half argues against it.
  16. I think your 5 and my 2 are the same. 4 is interesting, though!
  17. The pool full of ants. Drowned ants aren't much of a problem, and i can wash them off. Would you rather be mute or be required to sing everything you say (a la Jabez in Hoodwinked)
  18. Jasnah is an atheist, reasonably intelligent, a Veristatalian, and has the social rank to get anything she needs. That's got to be a pretty rare combanation.
  19. Three explanations: 1. Coincidence. It just happens that Urithiru is symmetrical. 2. Symmetry is sacred by the time the KR are founded, but after Proving Day (the Herald's original names presumably dated from when they were mortal). 3. Uritihiru wasn't the original name of the city, it was renamed at some point in the same way as the Heralds.
  20. Jasnah is no ordinary scholar. For one thing, the Ghostbloods obviously have agents in the ardentia, so both ardents and devout Vorins can much more easily be redirected, not to mention that they'd be much less likely to stumble across this in the first place. Jasnah's atheism does make her more likely to see this particular truth, even if it will blind her to others.
  21. I would guess that the Ghostbloods are worried about Jasnah poking around into ancient legends because she'll discover that the Hierarchs were not totally destroyed.
  22. Nyn is definitely 26. She is very vocal and sensitive about her age, since she slowed earlier than usual.
  23. Just got to the scene where Mat needs three sul'dam and a Blood to escape the city, and Eagannin drops in with three secret sul'dam/damane. Very neat. EDIT: A little further on, at the first half of the wedding, it struck me that if the Eelfinn had not told Mat he was going to marry the Daughter Of The Nine Moons, he would never have claimed Tuon as his wife. So they didn't just read his future, they shaped it. Very paradoxical.
  24. We know the Knights Radiant were formed after Nohadon's desolation.
