  1. It slowly came to me, my gut reaction at learning about her shardblade was that she was Vivenna. However, I dismissed that and forgot about it, until one of the fight scenes with her. She was killing people, and they were turning grey... "Oh, I think this might be Vivenna....." She had a cloak wrapped around her left arm. "Yes, I am pretty sure this is Vivenna!" "They'll be like Crimson to defeat." VIVENNA!!!!!!!!!!
  2. For some reason I nearly always tear up when someone does something kind that is the opposite of what we assumed(though still, obviously, it has to work.) The only time I distinctly remember crying was when Dalinar stood up to Odium, though I'm certain I cried in other similar parts. I think I did when we met Oredon, too... just so you all know, he's now my second favourite character, after Syl. He BETTER be the main character of the second half. Oh, I also cried with the whole "Something improper? Like dividing by zero?" scene. That, however, was because I was laughing.
  3. Well, I'm stopping at the end of the different sections to discuss with one of my friends... we've done it with Way of Kings and WoR, and it's a great way of doing it. That said, we're both reasonably fast, so it'll probably be about a week.
  4. You're just in time for Oathbringer! Welcome!
  5. Umm... @Chaos, did you even read Hoid's whole shtick at the end of Words of Radiance? Y'know, about expectation?
  6. Yes. They are Soldier's in Dalinar Kholin's army, who is a very effective warlord. He has lots of armour, and is definitely going to outfit his bodyguards with armour when on the battlefield.
  7. I had a thought last night, after finishing the annotations for Warbreaker. What would happen if you Awakened a lifeless using a Divine Breath? I tend to believe that, most likely, it would make that lifeless be very similar to a Returned. However, if that is the case, would this lifeless have the personality that belonged to the body before its death? Or, conversely, would it have the personality that belonged to the Returned whose breath this was? I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this.

    Clod confusion

Oh, thanks. Sorry for asking such a stupid question...
  9. Yes, I believe there most likely is. You said it yourself. Yes. A spren is a Splinter of a Shard, as is a Seon, and a Returned Breath. The Stormfather is a very large Splinter of a Shard, as is the Nightwatcher. You may say, "but that's a Splinter, not a Shard!" True, but Shards are called Shards, not Adonalsiums. As to the second part: "That two new vessels can pick up." The Returned are just that. Rather, they are given the Splinters, which can then be given to other people. They are the Vessels of the Splinters. The Heralds, as well, are probably similar: we can't be completely sure, though. But the Returned are certainly like that.
  10. I was just reading the annotations for Warbreaker, and came across a really confusing paragraph. Isn't Clod Yesteel? If so, how is he hiding anywhere?! Or did Sanderson just make a mistake in his annotation here? And, if so, was Lightsong right?
  11. Your theory is pretty good, with one problem.... we already assumed that Cultivation invested through light. The primary source of investiture on Roshar is Stormlight, and a magic system (surgebinding) which is partially of Cultivation is powered by Stormlight. And Tien's stones: Yes, independent of whether other stones in general are capable of holding investiture, By default, all the types of stones that would reflect light normally in our world will be faceted stones of a similar type to gemstones, and therefore most likely capable of holding a slight amount of investiture. As for stones holding investiture.... I'm not going to look at your theory, as I'm abstaining from the Oathbringer pre-released chapters. However, stones share, to some extent, the same geological makeup as gemstones, and therefore would likely be able to hold some small measure of investiture. However, I'd imagine it's generally too little to do any good.
  12. THey're good, in my opinion, but... aren't keteks supposed to have five portions, not four?
  13. Why don't you like Lift? And is your intention to convert everybody to your anti-Lift ideology?
  14. I had this random idea while reading the theory about Wayne being a Kandra. We know very little about the Set's Faceless Immortals. They are presumed, by the characters on Scadrial, to be Kandra. This is presumably because the Scadrians know them to be shapeshifters, and the only shapeshifters they know about are Kandra. However. These Faceless Immortals have red eyes. What other shapeshifting species do we know of that has red eyes? The Parshendi. That is, the Voidspren-bonded Parshendi. "But they all have marbled black/white and red skin!" Yes. They do, that we've seen so far. BUT. "Smokeform for hiding and slipping between men." The obvious assumption for that is that they'd look like Parshmen, but that makes no sense. They've got Dullform for that, which is definitely NOT a form of power, and Dullform would be extremely conspicuous anywhere that wasn't used to Parshmen. So. My final theory: the Faceless Immortals with red eyes are Parshendi in Smokeform. If you've any evidence for or against it, please tell me.
  15. Mraize will turn out to be Odium. Or formerly Odium, or something. Perhaps he's trying to get his Shard back...
  16. I want the pancakes that were dedicated to (presumably) Taln! Y'know, the ones that Lift didn't get to eat... More seriously, though, Chouta. Only because everyone loves it(even Kaladin....) and I feel gypped that I can't have it.
  17. So, I've been re-reading Stormlight in preparation for Oathbringer(and assiduously avoiding the chapters as they come out... it's hard, though...), as well as the Way of Kings Prime snippets. I just re-read the duel between Adolin and the four shardbearers, in which he doesn't have his dead mothers "lucky" necklace. It always just seemed a good luck charm, and that's probably what it is. But... in Way of Kings Prime, Merin(Kaladin) had a strange glyphward necklace stuck in his gauntlet, that gave him increased fighting ability. I'm wondering if it's possible that that is related to Adolin's necklace. Rather, I'm pretty sure it HAS to be, it's too similar. I'm wondering HOW it's related. Is it simply a tribute? Or, perhaps, is it a remnant kept over, that in fact DOES help Adolin when he's fighting? (Not to diminish him at all, he's pretty stormblasted amazing without it.)
  18. When before every bout at fencing you talk to your sword, and remember that you sadly did not eat chicken, and don't have your dead mother's lucky necklace.
  19. It was in Words of Radiance. I believe it was in the Shallan flashback in which Hoid visited her house to deliver a message to her father.
  20. Yes. We've seen Hoid use Allomancy on Roshar.
  21. This game... is confusing. I'm fine with being lynched, as I don't see any way I can really add to it.... but I am not the elim. Honestly, I have no idea what could be happening.
  22. Ok, thanks. I'll probably go with FMAB, then. It's just that after seeing the first episodes of both, FMA had MUCH better exposition. They actually explained things, and did so in a way that made sense narratively. FMAB had a guy talking to himself about elementary things that he already knew. Does that get better?
  23. So, I recently had Full Metal Alchemist recommended to me. I'd heard that Brotherhood was better, so I watched the first episode of that, and then watched the first episode of the original. I found that I VASTLY preferred the original first episode. Which do you guys think is better? Which would you recommend to me, who's only seen the first episode of each?
  24. Oh, drat, I kinda forgot there were people who were reading the oathbringer chapters as they came.... Ah well. I'll read your quote later. On the fifteenth of November, most likely.
