No!!!! Not Shalladin!!! If Shalladin happened, poor Syl... Also, Shallan is really good for Adolin. But mostly, poor Syl... you can't do that to the best little lady in the cosmere!!! She'd probably try to get the Stormfather to have Dalinar kill Shallan. Anyway. Not trying to be decisive... but Brandon, you'd better not go with Shalladin! Or I won't read any more of your books... For about a day. Or maybe even a week. Either way, I only hate you a *little* for shipping Shalladin.

Standardizing a measurement of investiture.
Julio replied to Steeldancer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Most likely at some point there will be at the least a simple unit of investiture. Probably a "Khriss" or something like that. And breaths(at birth) would be a really good unit of measurement, too. -

Also, sorry about not posting more consistently. The cycles seem to open late my time, and then close before I get around to doing anything in the morning. That being said, I'm a normal villager. And I'm very very confused as to what's happening, and no longer have any legitimate theories, as someone was lynched and nobody died of anything other than lynching. Of course, it is definitely possible that there's just an eliminator that's being VERY sneaky. -
Crowd of worldhoppers - why they are not mentioned?
Julio replied to Hyarmenatan's topic in Stormlight Archive
But doesn't that surge, transportation, put you in shadesmar? If you're in shadesmar, you can definitely worldhop. I assumed Jasnah could get in and out of the cognitive realm without using a perpendicularity. Also, it's possible that it requires Jasnah's specific set, of transportation and transformation(soulcasting). And, she would certainly have her spren in the Cognitive Realm, even on other planets (IIRC), and could possibly also have it on the planets themselves. She would just have to be careful to bring stormlight infused spheres with her... otherwise she's trapped. -

So... does that mean that nobody was lynched or eliminated last round? Because only one person died, it must've been the scapegoat... So, why was nobody eliminated? I still think it's possible that it's because there were no legitimate lynching votes. -

Taklon sat in the corner, as he knew that's what the dark mysterious types were supposed to do. Most of him wanted to leave this town where people seemed to drop like flies, but that didn't fit his character stereotype. Well, maybe if he continued sitting in the corner someone would figure everything out, and he could go and fight somebody. That would be a good way to gain renown... I'm still not dismissing the possibility of the shades, mostly because I can't easily compare things... And other than htat, I have no idea who it could be. -
“Three of sixteen ruled, but now the Broken One reigns.” Who are the three? Presumably Honor and Cultivation, but is the third Odium? It sounds as if the "Broken One(I assume that's Odium? Though, he's arguably not "broken".)" is not one of the three. "Three ruled, but now this other person rules." Also, I'd like to request that any Oathbringer spoilers be put under spoiler tags, even though they needn't normally...

Quick Fix Game 26: Stop the Madness
Julio replied to firstRainbowRose's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well... is it possible that the shades are the killers? what did Wilson do last round? Is it possible that he was the person who thought of lynching whoever it was that died, and was killed as a result? This is Threnody, after all... It might very well be that suggesting lynching whoever is lynched counts as "drawing blood" and causes that person to be killed by shades. -
Should I read the prose version or wait for the graphic novel releases?
Julio replied to btcannon's topic in White Sand
I've only read the first third or so of the prose version, and of course the graphic novel version. Personally, I'm going to just read the prose version. I VASTLY prefer prose. However, there's one problem, especially if you're going for cosmere details. While, most likely no major cosmere affecting things will change between the prose and graphic novel versions, lots of little things have changed. In the prose version, there are 9 ranks, in the graphic novel there are seven, in prose the police woman is a man. Basically, I'm going to read the prose version, and learn the details of the different canon whenever necessary. -

@Herowannabe, I haven't posted yet because I'm not yet certain what's going on, in the least... But, why not, let's kill Eternum. Maybe killing him will give us something to work with...? -
Yes.... I have to disagree with you there. Well, that is, not about you liking Animal Farm better. Obviously you must have, if you think so. 1984 is better. Animal Farm is really good, but 1984 goes into all of the thought processes and theory behind everything, rather than just a simple though excellent analogy of communism. Suzanne Collins is famous for the Hunger Games. I don't know that she's written anything else. Just, no. She's famous for the wrong book, whether or not there is a right one.

Lightsong, because TLR wouldn't step down when his term was over. Who would be better at writing poetry, Wayne or Allomancer Jak?

Here's mine, for you Portal fans... An android like a majestically soaring eagle, piloting a blimp, a pilot eagle soaring majestically like an android. And one for fencing... The opponent, offended, attacks, I parry deceivingly. Riposting, deceiving the parry, I attack and offend the opponent. (For those of you who aren't into dated fencing terminology, offend roughly means to successfully attack your opponent.) Also, sorry to bring back an old argument a little, but I'm pretty sure the actual definition of "Holy" is "Set apart." In Christianity, "holy," unless specified otherwise, is assumed to mean "set apart for God." Presumably, when it comes to vorinism, holy means "set apart for the almighty" or "set apart for the vorin religion." Therefore, everything that's not specifically about vorin principles or history or whatnot is not a true ketek. ...And obviously only true keteks should exist. Because Portal and fencing are DEFINITELY part of the Vorinism. (For those of you that are bad with sarcasm(I know such people exist) that last sentence was completely sarcastic.) An android like a majestically soaring eagle piloting a blimp, a pilot eagle soaring majestically like an android.

Lopen, because Herdazians rule. And Chouta. And Sebarial is too lazy. Who'd be more likely to kill Alcatraz Smedry, Kaladin or Raoden?

I'm reading the Liveship Traders series, by Robin Hobb. I've read 2/3 of Farseer, and 2/3 of Soldier Son... I really like Hobb.

I'll sign up as Taklon Nalkot, a guy who wanders all over the place and has gotten pretty good at fighting people. From a village that was destroyed by a random lord, that he wants to go kill. Likes protecting people. -
Ok, yeah, I have to give it to you, Calderis. Especially with the nicrosil compounding... Though it would still be annoying for him to have to get past the shardplate.
-
Those don't exist naturally. They can't be "born." But besides that... I still have to go with the Radiant, because Sprenblade and Shardplate. As much as I love Feruchemy, and as powerful as compounding Gold is, it's not really a match for the Godlike powers a super-radiant would have. Though Feruchemical Steel would be dangerous, it can't get past shardplate.
-
Firstly, I believe you mean Mistborn. IIRC, Fullborn refers to Feruchemists that have all the metals. We know very little about most of the surges, and a good bit about all the metals, so we can't really say how it would go. HOWEVER, the massive healing power granted to a surgebinder is amazingly powerful. Also, assuming this is a radiant(the only surgebinders we know anything of, without using honorblades), they will also have Shards, which will make them basically unstoppable. Which they are anyway, with unlimited healing. And, going on the off chance you did actually mean Fullborn, still definitely the surgebinder. This fullborn hasn't stored anything... he just has unlimited metals.

What's your favorite piece of Cosmere fanfiction?
Julio replied to Necessary Eagle's topic in Sanderson Fan Works
I'm reading that fanfic right now, it's really good... and I usually despise fanfics. As such, I don't have a favourite one... except, now, that one. -
Verin Mathwin. Jain Farstrider. Fingolfin. And, of course, (WoT. Again.)
-
I prefer physical books, and will thus read them whenever convenient, but my kindle is often much more convenient. So, I'll use either, but buy physical copies of my favourite books.
-
Either "Where the Wild Things Are," "Harold and the Purple Crayon," nearly anything by Dr. Suess, or "Life of Pi." I know, I know, boring...

1) Yes, I believe it is. I don't remember where you'd find it, but I'm pretty sure there's a WoB about it... and yes, that's pretty much exactly what it'd do. I believe Sanderson has said that Wax is a Feruchemical Savant, though I know he's also said that he wants to change how savantism works... so... 2) A Hemalurgic Savant would, presumably, be someone who was able to STEAL investiture from other people more efficiently, not what you're implying. 2B) Impart the attribute of lacking identity? ....the way I see it, Hemalurgy steals attributes, not lack thereof. I don't believe you could use a spike to steal "weakness" instead of strength, or "not able to use feruchemy" instead of the ability to do so. 2C)Um. I don't think that's possible. Though, well, Sanderson could totally do it. We never know, really. However, I think that violates the rules that we currently know. And yes, I believe Hemalurgy requires the spike to stay. The inquisitors die when their spikes are removed, Ruin's influence leaves when Vin removes her earring, Harmony can't talk as easily to Wax if Wax doesn't have his earring, etc... Basically, there's lots of precedent saying that a hemalurgic spike CANNOT be removed without undoing it, and no precedent for that being possible. 3)No, that's not how that works. They could certainly be more powerful, by tapping a lot of it at once(Like Wax in BoM), but they wouldn't gain Savantism. That's just not what Savantism is. Also, I believe there's a WoB that says that if there are too many powers present, one cannot become a Savant. Thus, Vin couldn't become one, while Wax can, etc. Hope that helped!
