Okay, newb question, what is "WoB"?

In all honesty I thought they would start in order the books were published. That's what made the easter eggs worth while once we got to SA. But I think a movie about Elantris would be a good starting point. A great way to ease into Brandon's unique magic systems. I just feel that starting with SA is just going to be overwhelming, like sensory overload. You can see the business side of it though, SA is the most "epic".

Think it's feasible about the Cultivation idea? Honor and Cultivation were a thing, so it might make since that since Honor was splintered the Heralds would eventually find themselves following Cultivation. Either they seeked her out, or vice versa. Could help Szeth even more towards redemption if Nale leads him to a 1 on 1 with the vessel.

The potential banter between the both of them alone is enough reason to want Oathbringer to come out faster lol.

You know I never thought about that Cultivation bit. With Honor "dead', after a while it would only make sense for the Heralds to gravitate towards another master/shard. Maybe Nale and a few other Heralds see Cultivation as the new "Almighty".

I think I like the idea of that parallel, but with Kaladin, not Dalinar. Kaladin gaining power and progressively doing more and more good. While on the other side, you gave Szeth gaining more power and progressively doing more and more evil. All leading up to the two in an epic showdown. It might be at that point where Kaladin finally shows Szeth the error of his ways and in some way sacrificing himself for the greater good, thus redeeming himself.

I think it was him just going after surgebinders at random, trying to prevent the Last Desolation. Well that's out the window now, so Nale's plans are going to shift. I don't think he's going to go after these goals the same way, we already see this by him recruiting Szeth.

When they rejoin the enlisted ranks, they're more often then not referred to as bell ringers. And they absolutely hate it lol.

Well this took a turn I didn't see coming.

It could be possible that the gift of Nightblood is more significant that we realize. It could mean Nale is going to send Szeth to other worlds to dispel evil, and not just keep him contained to Roshar.

Maybe they return for a bigger purpose than what's happening on Roshar. Like starting their own version of 17th shard, and manipulate events around the cosmere to suit their purpose. It's a long shot, but I like overall, the Heralds will have big part to play in the overall cosmere story line. And it might be Szeth that informs the KR of what the Heralds, individually or in a group, are scheming. Could also factor in to him slowly earning the trust of Kaladin and the the other Knights.

I first heard about Brandon after I finished Wise Man's Fear by Pat Rothfuss. Brandon had a blurb for that book, and then I found out that Rothfuss had a blurb for one of Brandon's book. Rothfuss is one of my all time favorite authors, so I had to check it out. First was WoK, and now about a year later, I'm finishing my last Cosmere novel, Warbreaker.

I've seen a few theories that this is a foreshadowing of Nale regathering the Heralds and using Szeth as a tool to do so.

I see where ya coming from. In Nale's eyes he's got bigger fish to fry, didn't think of it that way.

See I think in Nale's mind he was just temporarily routed. I think he'll try to find a loop hole in order to go after Lift again. Being of Justice, I don't think he can just forget about it.

The Lift one I think will be the most meaningful to do the fact that she hasn't met him yet. She might have heard of the "assassin in white" but they haven't had any incounters yet. Which I think is important, Lift not having any preconceived notions about him. Will leave the relationship more open to her trying to help him get back his sanity.

Agreed. With Nale having the belief that surgebinders are going to bring the next Desolation, I can totally see him sending Szeth after members of the KR.

I think it would have to be something big like that, because so far Szeth has gone really far down the rabbit hole.

I have a feeling that there's a double meaning to your words but it's cookies so whatever.

So far Szeth has done some pretty not cool things. But with Nale really not focusing on the major events happening with the VP characters, it seems likely that Nale will have Szeth go and right wrongs in different parts of the land. Maybe Nale will purposely keep Szeth from crossing paths with the KR. But I think righting these wrongs, doing justice, will lead Szeth on a path of redemption, mentally. Now we've already Nale's form of righting wrongs, he tends to go a bit extreme no matter the circumstance. I think this will be good for Szeth, I think he'll finally realize where being controlled gets him. He'll come across or a situation or two, maybe another small time character, that will change his perspective. The character/situation will show him he can do good, that he can help people. Obviously it's going to take a while to get to that point, due to how messed up in the head and traumatized Szeth is right now, but I think it'll happen. I think it'll lead to a point where a major Character, maybe Kaladin, will be in mortal danger and Szeth will come outta no where and save the day. Again, obviously it will take more than that and more time for Kaladin to trust him, but I think it's going to lead to a very funny, dynamic relationship.
