  1. Appreciate the help! The Shin being decendents of Skybreakers came from here, second post.
  2. I did some research and couldn't find an answer, so my bad if it's somewhere I haven't seen yet. So Nale knows that the Shin have the 8 Honorblades obviously, and that the Shin are decendents of the Skybreakers. My question is who gave the Shine the blades? Did they find them or were they gifted to them by Nale to protect? Is it ever said somewhere, either in book or a WoB, what the answer is? Or is just not resolved yet?
  3. Everyone remembers the day the Angel's of Rayen fell.
  4. So, I have a question. How likely is it that Odium will be the "main" antagonist only in the first 5 five SA books, and the so called opposing force of the Adonalsium will take over the back 5? We know that the break between the first 5 and last five will be decades, in world. Could that gap be filled with the KR learning of the "force"? Could they learn of it during the end fight with Odium? I could see this being an excellent opportunity to bring in other cosmere worlds/stories into SA. Getting all prepared for the "final battle" against this force? I haven't scoured the books yet to look for clues for this, I wanted to get your guys read on it. Thoughts?
  5. "With malice and sorrow in his heart, he destroyed the hope of humanity"
  6. Just thought of two more, both happen in the same sequence. When Syl comes back to Kaladin. "Your will matters not!" I don't think I've ever read a line in a book that gave me such a surge of emotion. Was soooooo awesome, I was practically shouting when I read it. The second one. "The Knights Radiant have returned." This one for obvious reasons.
  7. So on my from and to work I like to listen to the WoR audio book, just for the fact that I've picked up a few things that I didn't notice through my first read of the book. One of those things is the the following. In part 5, just before Syl comes back to Kaladin, the storm father has a conversation with Dalinar. Talking about the Everstorm coming. And right at the end of the conversation, the Storm Father calls Dalinar a "child of honor". This could just be a reference to Dalinar's personality, or could it be something more? I don't recall, may be wrong, a time where Kaladin was referred to as a child of Honor. So could this mean that Dalinar is a literal child of Honor? A decedent of the vessel of Honor and Cultivation? Good be far fetched, but it would be great to hear your guys thoughts.
  8. I didn't know whether I should've felt grateful, depressed or offended.
  9. Ahh, well that theory got debunked haha. I haven't seen anything on Coppermind, has there been any hints as to who his master is/was? I don't mind spoilers.
  10. Oh, jeez this is going to get badminton(for some reason my phone auto corrected bad into badminton, I'm keeping it) I once had idea for a short story were the main protagonist that witnessed his parents deaths and decided to be a vigilante swordsman. I made it all the way to like my 3rd draft before I realized what I did.
  11. A phenomenal lady.
  12. Your first quote made me think of something
  13. Yeah it took me a reread to appreciate Lift as well. Didn't like how she treated "voidbringer" at first lol.
  14. Like Sav said, this can go a 100 different ways. But I just think that after his fight with Kaladin, that was Szeth's proverbial "rock bottom*(hehe, half pun). When you read his chapters in WoR, there was just a sense of hopelessness and slight insanity. To me, that's a perfect set up for a redemption arc. Maybe he does find himself in Odium's employ, not necessarily champion, but I think if that happens he'd be a double agent.
  15. I never said she was unimportant, I just struggle through her chapters compared to everyone else's. She's not a badly written character at all, but I just don't like the pacing or the directions her choices has taken her. I think in most series, for me anyway, there is always that one character that just irritates you to no end due to the choices she makes and the way they act and withhold in dialogue. Doesn't mean they're a bad character, arguably them pulling that reaction is a great sign, but it does mean they can be annoying. I understand she furthers the plot where other characters can and she's set up some awesome scenes in the book, but that doesn't change the fact that I find her boring.
  16. I don't know, I think it's a close second to when Syl comes back to Kaladin in WoR.
  17. I feel her scenes with Kaladin are amazing, but other than that I struggle through her chapters. She's like reading Egwene from wheel of time in the first 6 books.
  18. This opinion is not a popular one, but Shallan is my least favorite character, and the most stagnant to me. The only time she is interesting is in Kaladin's chapters and when she interacts with him. My favorite scholar is Sigzil, just for the fact that he puts a unique twist on the scholar stereotype.
  19. "Everyone remembers the day the moons collided, the day that magic died"
  20. So the shattering, different shards going all over the place, thus getting rid of Ole Adonalsium. But what if something was left over, a shell devoid of power? What if this shell is Hoid? That his determination to discover and obtain to magics is a way for him to get his shards back? The obvious hole in this theory is that why hasn't he obtained at least one shard since the shattering? First, we don't know if he has. A lot of shards are MIA. Second, I think it could be the "force that opposed Adonalsium" that has been thwarting Hoid, as well as agents of Odium. The other hole is the 17th Shard, and the Letter. The recipient obviously knows of Hoid, and the "hiding behind your master" doesn't sound like the potential force of creation.
  21. I was the same way, take a look in the Cosmere sections. Information overload, and you'll get caught up on everything. Anyway, welcome, looking forward to the banter.
  22. That's what I think. But I think Szeth is going to sacrifice himself for something greater. Maybe protecting Kaladin? I think he's going to a lot of bad, but hes going to redeem himself in death. But what I hope is that he doesn't have to die. I think it would be awesome in second 5 that he become apart of the nights radiant. I also think it would be awesome if he bonded with a Spren. Depending on the Spren, it would help him a lot on going down the road of redemption. Also it would be cool if he bonded with a Sprenger AND still had Nightblood. That would lead to excellent dialogue I think.
  23. So I've checked a couple pages in this section, and haven't seen a topic really like this. My girlfriends professor for one of creative writting electives has them do this exercise at least once a week. It's easy and simple, and for me personally it has helped me improve my writting. So what you do is grab an image, any image, as long is kinda powerfully resonates with you in some way. Then you write a hook sentence that goes along with the image. It's a pretty quick trick to help you improve and more often than not its fun to see what you and other people come up with. Which I thought was a good idea for this forum. I'll start it off. Which means we're going to start off on a really bad note. "A great and terrible power exists, it exists at the Eternal Kingdoms"
  24. Excuse me Mr.Teacher, but let me tell you about Elantris, who had the best Seons of all time.
  25. Yeah something like would definitely send ripples through the latter half of the series. I think it would really help develop Kaladin's character in an awesome way.
