Actual WoB describing what happened to him as increases in multiple types of intelligence simultaneously, which has solidly set me in the camp of "The Diagram was made using logical probability predicition" though I was there alreary. I'm still open to the idea though that there was outside tampering. The WoB

The reason why I cannot is because investiture while has properties analogous to those possessed by energy, such as never being created or destroyed, it is not energy. Rather, investiture creates energy, before cycling back to its origin, in some instances. Please watch the spoilers of other series. You have a startlingly high amount.

If that's the case though, then it wouldn't explain why his Shardblade was dropped. Whoever Kaladin killed wasn't a knight radiant, as they wouldn't have had any shards afterwards if he had been.

Isaac, the artist, was inspired by spikes, and incorporated symbols of all three metallic arts into the allomantic symbols. However, I don't think, like a number of itens he has drawn, that there is any in-world meaning to be drawn from them.

How you guys think the Spiritual Realm functions?
Spoolofwhool replied to Blightsong's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@Thanatos @The One Who Connects Vin did not ascend when she touched the power of the Well of Ascension because she didn't use the power, she just released it. She only became a sliver after she became the vessel of Preservation. -
My issue, and what it appears to me that you're missing, is that investiture is not just as general as energy, as you are implying, nor is investiture energy. Stormlight is a specific form of investiture, with ties to certain entities, I believe at least Honor and Cultivation. In order to create stormlight, one would have to replicate those connections as well, something which I don't see as probably. That's why I find it more likely that Lift is creating a connection in order to access the investiture in the spiritual realm which manifests in the physical realm as stormlight. What Brandon is trying to say there is that she has been changed such that the process in order to access that investiture follows the same principles as the metabolization of sugars, and likely begins the same way, in addition to being essentially an unconscious part of her physiology.

Most of that is theory though. All that is confirmed is that the spren which allow for the creation of KRs are formed from a mixture of Honor and Cultivation investiture. We don't know whether they collaborated to intentionally create the KRs, or the Heralds, and since the Oathpact is only between the Heralds and Honor, I'm not seeing how it is thought that Cultivation had any part in the Heralds.
-
My opinion is that the Recreance caused Honor to be shattered, yet in a sense you could link that to the Heralds because without them to guide the KRs, is what caused the KRs to self-destruct in that manner. However, that is due simply to the Heralds not being around, not because they turned their backs on the Oathpact. All the points I commented about have WoBs corroborating them. The ten heartbeats and Szeth's Honorblades seems to have an implied response that Honorblades don't need ten heartbeats. The Oathpact and Honor's shattering is explicitly said.
-
Ten heartbeats was required for Szeth because he thought it was necessary. If he hadn't, he could've summoned his honorblade instantly. The limitation was entirely cognitive for him, not due to the mechanisms of the blade. The Heralds abandoning the Oathpact had a tangential effect at best on the shattering of Honor. It's fairly safe to say it had no effect, especially since the shattering occurred centuries after the Final Desolation.

I see. I still don't see much humor in it, but as you will.

How you guys think the Spiritual Realm functions?
Spoolofwhool replied to Blightsong's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes she did. She breathed in the mist, and it ascended her, because the mist is the same as the pool, just in a different state of matter, and more directly linked to the greater power that is Preservation. I have no idea what you're trying to say with the second line. -
His influence can be felt anywhere in the Greater Roshar System, so I don't think he would have a problem controlling or influencing them to a large degree from there.

wob CAUTION: Potential Changes to Savants
Spoolofwhool replied to Argent's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Breath is designed to enhance people holding it, therefore, by design, mitigating any negative effects. Most of what savantism is regarding however is unintended effects of having too much investiture in a container which the investiture was not designed to be in, nor the container designed to hold. Unconstrained investiture in a foreign environment has negative effects, leading to straining of the container/body until it changes enough to "fit" the investiture. Breath is both constrained and designed to be in a human body, its default medium, and the one it fits the best, which is why no side effects of all that investiture is present. In addition, the Nalthian body is designed to hold breath. -
How to Make Koloss without Spikes
Spoolofwhool replied to Faceless Mist-Wraith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes, it is definitely theoretically possible. However, practically, it wouldn't be due to the investiture required, since a koloss does possess more innate investiture than a regular Scandrian due to the hemalurgic spikes. Also, making it stick somehow would be difficult. -
I don't understand the joke. Tyn was the hunter Mraize thought was best suited for the job, Iyatil is his master.

10 years. 10 long, storming years. That last line is hilarious. Very well done.

I believe it was said that Vin would retrieve the spent boxings initially because she was still using the thrifty mindset. Other than that, I'm assuming they're using the lowest denomination coinage, so it's like throwing pennies around.

How to Make Koloss without Spikes
Spoolofwhool replied to Faceless Mist-Wraith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Probably would be more a matter of suppressing the excess investiture and its effect with more investiture than removing it. Probably wouldn't be that doable due to the investiture required, plus savants probably are hard to forge due to the excess investiture permeating them. -
The way I see it, investing into a place does not prevent a shard from leaving that region. However, it just means that if the shard does, it will become weaker, as a portion of its power is no longer free to use, but more regionally locked. As long as it remains where its power is invested, it can use that power. Once at a distance, that power is no longer usable.
-
Brandon has said that Odium could absorb beaten shards, just that he chooses not to. That seems fairly definitive on the matter.

Detailed description of a Steel Inquisitor for 3D model
Spoolofwhool replied to sprocket's topic in Mistborn
Possibly. It's just that "one through the shoulders" seems like a far cry from describing the spike as between the shoulder blades. Sprocket has correctly quoted the book in his post, so you can read it there. Also, Marsh did state at the end of TFE that all eleven spikes hurt, two in the top and eight in the bottom plus one to connect them, so it seems to me that the description is describing the ten regular non-linchpin spikes an inquisitor has plus the extra one in the sternum which they hadn't seen before. So the linchpin is never described.- 24 replies

Edgedancer suggested a theory, which was being supported by someone who was clearly not mentally stable, and was postulated by someone who has previously postulated a theory with dubious biases regarding it. We have a WoB that the Heralds abandoning the Oathpact had a tangential effect at best on the ease at which Honor was shattered. Their decision basically in no one caused that. Also, please double or triple post. Just edit in new thoughts. Precisely, though I don't think they were drawing directly on the power of Honor. I can't find the WoB, but I think it said they could draw stormlight from the spiritual source directly instead of waiting for a highstorm.

Detailed description of a Steel Inquisitor for 3D model
Spoolofwhool replied to sprocket's topic in Mistborn
What part of the description indicates that one of the eleven spikes listed (there are eleven listed, not ten), is between the shoulder blades? As far as I can tell, the description lists two through the eyes, one through each shoulder (two), six between the ribs, and one in the sternum. None of them are remotely described as being in the back or between shoulder blades.- 24 replies

How you guys think the Spiritual Realm functions?
Spoolofwhool replied to Blightsong's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I see the spirit realm as just being investiture. However, that investiture is bound by connections which, in essence, gives rise to spiritual aspects of entities. I'll elaborate when I have time.
