  1. Yes, he hadn't said so, but based on what he's saying, it seems to be strongly indicating that he intends no connection between.
  2. Most of those references though can be explained by the simple fact that they do exist in the Cosmere, so I don't see how it is out-of-place. For instance, strawberries and chickens are actual animals in Shinovar. In addition, other irregularities can be explained by the fact that he is using magic to translate his words and meanings to whichever Rosharan language he is using at the moment, which is then translated to whichever Earth language the book is printed. I don't know about Mistborn references. Once again, considering Brandon has firmly stated the two aren't connected, I don't see any point it theorizing a connection when we have been given such a definitive answer.
  3. Still unconfirmed really. My opinion is that Nale started recruiting them several years ago when the signs of a Desolation began to appear. so it doesn't mean that they have existed since the FinalDesolation.
  4. I believe Brandon has said that Fabrials are the result of a manifestation of investiture while the old magic is... something else. Probably more the direct usage of a shard's power on an entity versus a manifestation of investiture in my opinion.
  5. Brandon has said that Rashek spent time old because he felt like it, not because it was necessary for his immortality.
  6. That coloured one looks really nice.
  7. The atium was already balancing out the excess power of Ruin. Creating lerasium would unbalance Harmony a bit.
  8. No idea. Do you have any reasoning for that idea that I could follow?
  9. No, she's someone got a process whereby the sugars in the food she eats is lost and an equivalent amount of stormlight is gained, at some specific exchange rate of sugar to stormlight.
  10. Okay. I get where we've been having problems. We've been discussing different issues. I haven't been talking about Lift using stormlight to maintain herself at any point; my only concern has been how she is obtaining that stormlight using sugars. As such, I guess I've just been interpreting everything you've said incorrectly. I guess we are on the same page since we both have little idea how she is obtaining the stormlight.
  11. True, you can't forcefully take Breaths from someone, but you can convince them to give it up with torture, as we saw with Vahr. As such, this idea isn't that unreasonable as you just have guards watching the people with a thousand Breaths and if they refuse to give them then you just walk them off to the dungeons.
  12. Amaran and the Storm Wardens specifically use glyphs which are considered different from script, so they are not technically "reading" or "writing", so it is alright within Vorinism. It is noted by Shallan though that they are cheating by using glyphs in ways which they aren't suppose to be in order to develop it into a true writing system. Glyphs currently are designed only to represent concepts, like the glyph for Bridge 4.
  13. Yes. My opinion is that the spren did it without any motivation from either shard.
  14. In-Cosmere, the steel alphabet represents the allomantic. In our reality, the artist who create the individual designs drew on elements of hemalurgy, allomancy and feruchemy to design them. I have no idea though whether they are viewed as containing elements of allomancy, feruchemy and hemalurgy in-Cosmere.
  15. I don't understand. There are sets of symbols representing the same metals. The steel alphabet contains elements, as that is what inspired the artist to make those designs, so the references to allomancy, feruchemy and hemalurgy are purely artistic.
  16. I find that unlikely considering they've been officially released in the feruchemical table of metals.
  17. There are feruchemical symbols for the metals, I'm not sure what their root is though. Apparently the Steel Alphabet was originally Terris as well.
  18. The steel alphabet contains elements of allomancy, feruchemy and hemalurgy. The curves represent the bracer metal minds of feruchemists, the dots represent beads of metal for Allomancer, and the spikes represent hemalurgice spikes. The designs are purely artistic though, nothing canonical can be drawn from the placement of the elements.
  19. Good point. The cultural things, sure I believe, as well as how they use spikes to recreate full-koloss. His involvement and his help, I'm more skeptical on.
  20. Not really, because the way I see it, once breath is within an object, like stormlight, it transitions back into a more spiritual form connected to the object, so it's no longer investiture in physical form like atium, but just spiritual investiture used to fuel manifestations of investiture and other magics. The thing to note too, is that Nightblood has been described as invested, able to resist the influence of other investiture because of interference. However, we have not seen this effect with atium, as it can be easily pushed using allomancy, and and can used as a feruchemical metalmind. This indicates to me that atium is not invested, just physically manifested investiture.
  21. Actually no. All Scadrian base metals are of both Ruin and Preservation since they were made using their investiture when they created Scadrial. In the same regard, atium is made from investiture, but is not invested. The investiture composing it has directly become physical matter, whereas with invested objects the investiture remains investiture. Burning atium converts the physical object back into investiture, and that investiture is then used to power the allomancy instead of Preservation's which is the norm.
  22. He was burning malatium, which is an alloy of atium and gold. Creates a connection to other people, allowing you a limited view of possible alternative thems. Anyhow, electrum. Using electrum to connect to the spiritual realm, by either burning on death or using duralumin could possibly result in a similar effect which happened Elend when he duralumin burned atium. However, I stress that it should be noted that in Elend's and Kelsier's case they were drawing directly on the power of Ruin within the metal, possibly greater amount of investiture than an allomancer normally possesses when they burn normal metals, and additionally electrum would give you the power of Preservation, which is apparently not as temporally-related. As such, I doubt that one would really be afforded much of a view into the future.
  23. Yes. It is known that allomancy can exist at different strengths in an individual, and feruchemy likely has the same gradient, though we don't know what its effect are. As such, my opinion is that tapping or storing a manifestation of investiture simply shifts you on the gradient. So fractional taps are possible.
  24. I doubt it. Nothing indicates to me that he is really being directed towards any sort of greatness other than being king of the world. He didn't ask the Nightwatcher for the power to guide and protect people, he asked for the power to ensure the survival of humanity at the sacrifice of however many people it took.
  25. The Bands of Mourning are nowhere near the level of invested object as Nightblood or other shardblades. This can be easily shown by the fact that Nightblood, sprenblades and honorblades all qualify as "shardblade-class objects", meaning that they are heavily invested magical objects. On the other hand, the Bands of Mourning have been directly stated to not be "shardblade-class", due to not being invested enough. Regarding Heralds and Returned. We know both types of entities are in fact cognitive shadows attached to a physical body, likely using a large amount of investiture. With Returned, their cognitive shadow is reattached to their original body pre-death using the divine breath, while with Heralds, they are apparently being reborn, which indicates to me that they as a cognitive shadow are being attached to a new body every time. As to how they are chosen... Endowment has a system I believe. The Heralds, well that's something which will likely be revealed in upcoming SA books, probably the one where Ash is the primary character, though that's a ways away. My personal opinion is that the Heralds were ten people who asked Honor for power so that they could protect and guide the Rosharans, which lead to their immortalization by the Oathpact.
