  1. I kinda want to lean on Cole more, to get an idea of what all of these factions want, but then again he's likely neutral if he claimed a team, and killing neutrals and antagonizing others isn't in my best interests. I'm going to vote Mark. Eternum specified his reasoning, and I have a slight village toneread on Arin compared to no read on Mark, so that leaves Mark as my preferred lynch out of those three.
  2. *sets up shop at a computer* *opens excel doc* *bobs head to imaginary music* It's time to get some things done. First off, I've made a spreadsheet and read the thread from front to back. @King Cole On page 16 you claimed to be part of a neutral faction. Unless you're with the Epic Cabal or Malcontents, I doubt your claim. Are you with either of those and, if you are, what is your win con? @Ecthelion III I'm beginning to get paranoid that I'm the only one, because seriously people, where are you villagers? Where is the honor of this city? 2 nights ago I sent in an order to target Winter with any or all of my actions, in case I had a secret role that I wasn't informed about, and I successfully performed no actions against Winter, so that's that. According to my spreadsheet, of 18 living players, there are 6 neutral or non-village claims, 1 village claim, and 11 unclaimed. Also, Roadwalker before he died claimed to be village-friendly but have a faction objective to kill someone or multiple someones. I think the Malcontents may be the opposite of the Epic Cabal, or planning on killing Balelight, or both. Either way, they likely have a faction action, because Road claimed to be putting in a joke action C1, which he wouldn't have done if the Malcontents had access to a lot of role actions. Role-wise, we haven't accounted for the Thief that hit Alv along with the Drug Dealer, or the Roleblock that hit Roadwalker C1.
  3. I agree with HH that Stoner is seeming more and more likely as a role. But if Stoner is the guy with all of the drugs, how did Flash get his hands on a stash that size? It's possible that Flash was the drug dealer, either that or the thief stole quite a bit from Flash but Flash never reported it. I've got some time on my hands later today so I may be able to get some analysis in.
  4. Ok, so now there's an Epic Cabal. A cabal is a secret political faction/alliance, so it looks like this game is more than just Reckoners v Epics or Malcontents v Loyal Citizens. I'd guess that the Reckoners, the Cabal, and Malcontents all sound like they want Balelight dead, but may or may not need to target the others as well.
  5. I've previously signed up, but as somebody mentioned I didn't provide a name. I'll be Amarthion. In another universe his features would suggest an elven heritage. In this universe, people just think he looks strange.
  6. Boris watched as a group of Epics began to fight, throwing lightning, fire, drugs, and who knows what else. It was interesting sport, but not altogether safe: Boris was just a merchant caught in the middle of the recent turmoil. He had no epic powers of his own. If one of them decided to come after him, he was toast. Then, suddenly, Boris' lights went out. Nobody had knocked his lights out; he just suddenly couldn't see anything but black. And for a merchant like Boris, that was very bad for business.
  7. Signing up! Role: Dungeon Master. Each Night he can do two of the following: --Create a mob of NPCs, doubling his vote the next Day --Influence the dice, choosing a player and redirecting a random action targeted at the Dungeon Master to that player instead. --Deny a player's request, roleblocking them for the Night.
  8. Everyone else: *has awesome roles and powers* Me: *is vanilla and has no actions* Okay, you guys do your stuff. I'll write more D&D.
  9. Just checking in to let everyone know I'm still watching.
  10. Raoden may be fast with his Aons, but he's not inhumanly fast. Marsh can take him down using Feruchemical steel before Raoden can get defenses up.
  11. OK guys, it's time to elucidate a few facts, make a few deductions, and alignment claim: 1. Sorry about not posting, I didn't realize the game had started and I was busy putting together my D&D adventure for our D&D discord server. 2. I'm surprised nobody village has said this yet (FoS at you all :P), but I'm village--"Loyal Citizen" in green--and my role PM explicitly states that I'm allied with Balelight. I (and presumably the rest of the village, I hope) win if all threats to Balelight are eliminated. 3. Based on that information from #2, the eliminators in this game are likely out to kill Balelight. I've never read Reckoners, but I've been around on the Shard enough to know that the Reckoners and Epics want to kill each other, so I'd put a bet down that the elims are the Reckoners. Anyone willing to take that bet? 4. I'm not an Epic. I have a feeling some other players are, by what's been said about targeting Nighthound--a confirmed, dead epic.
  12. Seonid Nighthound Bandwagon alert! Aaaaah!
  13. Aw flip, here I am playing KH2 today and yet mess that up. Sorry, nothing to see here...
  14. I've never been a fan of Ticket to Ride. Dunno why, but there's way too much hanging onto cards and not enough actual movement. As miniature games I play Star Wars X-Wing and Lord of the Rings LCG from time to time. I did a mathematical analysis of LoTR Risk one time, using map bonuses, defensibility, and strongholds, and I found that the best strategy for early game in 2-player is to seize the Black Gate, Ithilien, and the City of the Corsairs, and just lock down that whole corner of the map for +4 and practically unassailable, while denying the forces of good their Gondor bonus. What I'm really into is stuff like D&D and Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, the latter of which turns tabletop as you have dice spilling off of every available surface and a big old whiteboard to keep track of where everything is and who is in whose line of fire.
  15. Lord of the Rings: Aragorn. All that is gold does not glitter. Kingdom Hearts: Axel. He might not have the right idea all of the time, but he's possibly the most loyal friend in all of KH2. He just ends up on the wrong side of things for most of it. Star Wars: Han Solo. He's not your typical hero, but that's the point. #HanShotFirst Harry Potter: Mad-Eye Moody (the real one). He's skilled, grumpy, and just slightly mad. Plus "constant vigilance" totally could be my motto. Roxas is better than Sora in personality, IMO, but the backhand keyblade wielding drives me crazy.
  16. As much as I usually dislike (American) pop music, "Something Just like This" the Coldplay and Chainsmokers collab is actually really good. Maybe it's because it's got a Future Bass lean and a good message too.
  17. @Elbereth @Sart In my opinion, choosing roles should be done nameblind and then balanced if necessary, but not handpicked. In LG36, for instance, the item drops were assigned by me with the names hidden. I could ensure that player 17 got a balance of both weak and powerful items, but I couldn't see who player 17 on the item sheet was. That way the items were done roleblind and we deemed the balance was okay. I think what Sart would be really against is like LG35's neutral roles. I was hoping to get one of those, but they all ended up being given to the social circle of experienced players. I can think of a few other players, such as BR, who were also hoping for one, but didn't get an RNG's chance at it. I'm not in Hael's head, so I don't know why he did it that way, but if I was the GM I would have randomized all roles and then re-chose the parole officer and ringleader if need be.
  18. Huh. Looks like you're right on that regard, so I guess I should have clarified in that post that I correlated Orlok's experience with his accuracy and planning. I still hold that were Rand in this game he would have made the list.
  19. Did somebody say counter-bandwagon? Seonid #SaveNighthound2K17 #NighthoundLivesMatter
  20. I seem to have found myself without a game. That must be remedied at once! Signing up as Biff, a street salesman in the wrong place at the wrong time. Warning: I haven't gotten around to reading Reckoners, so while I've heard some things about the magic system I likely won't be able to RP much if at all.
  21. 1. I've already seen something kinda like experience votes: being the votes coming on me from players who always suspect me. I'm not being targeted for my activity per se, but for my maneuvering in previous games, which comes from being an active player. While I can't say that I enjoy those votes, I take them as a sort of compliment: if I'm village and being lynched as evil, that means that the village thinks I'm a crafty enough eliminator to be playing village as well as I am as when I am village. 2. In a game where people are saying "shshshsh, xxxxxx, and Len are the most experienced players, so one is likely an elim", what that's going to cause me to do is take a look at the posts of shshshsh and xxxxxx and see which of them is more likely an eliminator, and push their lynch. If I can get an evil, that makes me soft-cleared and in a good position, and if I can't, then some of the blame's on me for not analyzing the eliminator out of the bunch. The only scenario where that's a problem is if in reality none of the three are evil. 3. I never said that we should lynch Orlok because he played a lot of games. I said that we should lynch him because Orlok and Lopen are both tacticians, and the elim team needs a tactician. If, say, Randuir were in this game, I would have put him on that list as well, despite him having many fewer games under his belt than Lopen or Orlok. So maybe it's a minor nit-pick, but it's not necessarily Orlok's experience that got him on my list, it's his track record of correct analysis. 4. I don't bargain on surviving games. In fact, according to your spreadsheet I'm on a six-game and counting death streak. The only active SE players that show as having a longer current streak are Rae and Winter. If I die to an elim fear-kill, that just means I took a bullet away from someone else who IMO could have done a lot more damage than me.
  22. @Elbereth I wouldn't say that it negatively affected my game experience, but I do concur with Yitzi that the specific role distribution made the optimal strategy for this game very different than usual. Had I known the Truthless was elim I would have had a very different approach to the game. One issue I did have with the game, though, was that I took so much flak for my suspicion of Orlok based on reasoning that the elims needed to have a very experienced and active player, both while I was living and especially while I was dead. I completely understand if you don't agree with my suspicions, but when it goes so far as to say "you shouldn't reason like that" that's taking it too far. With all the discussion recently about how "sub-optimal" play is a part of the game and contributes to the fun, I'm surprised to still have players telling me how I should and should not choose my suspicions.
  23. Is it me or are none of those the distro that ended up getting used? Because I ended up with Arbok and Bard got Dragonair.
  24. Wait... how were all of those votes moved if the only vote manipulators were Dustbringers?
  25. Darn it I slipped! Orlok Len Hoping for some clutch inactivity right now.
