Sja'anat, could I be put in a doc with Furami so I can ask him all about this in a slightly less formal setting? Thanks! Anyway, given that it's just become a point of discussion, I don't think activity, or a lack of it, will be particularly alignment indicative in this game. Generally active people will be active, generally not-so-active people might not be, just like always. If it was a pure conversion game sja'anat would probably not convert any complete inactive, but since there might already be a couple of people in the elim team, that's no guarantee either. *** Alabaster was hurrying through one of Celebrant's side alleys. He hadn't joined the spren waiting fro the next shipment, as he wasn't exactly welcome among much of his kin these days. He didn't understand that. Causation had been obvious, and he'd acted to protect everyone. A serious blow to one of the unmade had even been struck with his aid. But still he was shunned, his deeds considered the start of redemption at best. Well, that suits me fine. We all fight in our own way, after all, and I've never been one to lead the charge. Sudden screaming interrupted his train of thoughts. It started at the docks, but quickly spread through the city. Alabaster made his way to wards the noise, adn ebfore longs he heard shouts of panic. One word stood out. Unmade.

This (the low player count) seems to be true for the current LG and the currently running MR, but a quick look further back, I'm not really seeing a trend downwards (though it should be noted, I've only checked the LG's back more than 2 games). I'm not saying that that means we shouldn't do anything, just that the sky doesn't seem to be falling down yet. It's also important to remember that if we reduce the frequency of sign-ups significantly, it'll likely mean we get a reduced amount of new people coming in as well. That having been said, it might pay to more closely link the double-cycle of games Right now the LG and MR/QF cycle are completely separate, and it might pay to try and arrange starts of signups in such a way that they are unlikely to occur at the same time (for example, new MR/QF starts being at around cycle 3 or 4 of the current ongoing LG). For those interested, the player counts of the last year or so of LG's are in the spoiler.

Hmm, I suddenly realized I actually had a Spren-character from my very first game, LG30, so I'll be Alabaster, an inkspren.

I know that the rest of this is an important sentiment, with which I readily agree, but only LG29!? I thought Joe was way more of a veteran than me. edit: wait, no, I'm being dumb, that referred to drought. The sentiment still stands though.

mafia championship A Knock from Outside the Cosmere
DeTess replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I got pretty close to getting nominated during my first year here as well, and during my round of the tournament there where a couple of players with significantly less experience than you do now, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.- 636 replies

I don't think making Walin a spammer was a bad call. Our primary purpose here is to have fun, not to win, and adding in an elim when it seemed things where looking really bad for them allowed them to stay in the game a bit longer. Something I've been thinking about wrt to the game as a whole was the whole role-claim thing. I think that's basically inevitable in a game with safe roles like this, even with PM's closed, as a lot of the roles could be proven by using them. Something very similar happened in an MR I co-gm'd last year. I think the best way to avoid this (apart from not running a game with distinct village and elim roles) would be to allow the elims to perform several conversions. If at least half the elim team consists of converted villagers, you can't really trust anyone based on their role. Including more 'passive' roles would make it harder as well, as those can't be proven. Edit: and @Alvron, I totally get being annoyed when someone votes on you for the wrong reasons (it's something that annoys me as well when it happens to me), so I already assumed your takedown of my wrong assumptions was motivated by that, rather than your alignment.

I'd celebrate, especialky given how much I was on walin's case, but I've actually lost I'd expected there to be another elim so the Joes could fully expand the next cycle. Anyway, this was a pretty fun game, though the spammers got really unlucky in those opening cycles. edit: and back to normal. It was fun while it lasted, but almost every time I saw one of my own posts my first thought was: 'hey, Aman posted something', and I understand things weren't much different for the real Aman either

@xinoehp512, you haven't posted yet this cycle. I'll be voting on Walin. Between him and Araris, I've got a mild village read on Araris, and no read on Walin, though his self-preservation vote on me doesn't sit well with me. Resolving these two slots will also go some way to clearing Metabard (if they're both village) or catching the last OG elim. I'll be signing off for the cycle now, so I'll hopefully talk to the rest of you (and be slightly more active) during the next night cycle.

But then who blocked metabard? None has claim that act, and there's no village with a role-block role. The inactive spammer might be Vashikiran, for example. The reason I bring this up is that if you're certain Vashikiran isn't in the game, then by extension I assume you believe metabard is lying about being roleblocked. Is that correct? Anyway, I'ms till working my way slowly through the player list. The next one is Cadcom. Earliest they could have been converted was N2, given their instrumental role in lynching Devotary. His behaviour during the Alvron lynch suggests to me that he probably wasn't an elim then either, as he wouldn't have gone for the suicidal win-con with a spammer-team that badly depleted. That is assuming that he had the role he claimed, because I remember a role in a previous MR or QF that'kill everyone voting on them when lynched. i'd imagine that the elim team would come up with a more convincing case against him had that been the case though. because of this, i suspect that Cadcom is still village as well.

His explanation sounded reasonable though, or are you saying that his role wouldn't have been able to do what he claimed it did. it should be noted that afterwards Kidpen claimed a similar mechanic, and that was proven to exist and be correct. Anyway, can you explain the reason for your vote, or do you want to use your ability again for some reason? Anyway, @Walin, I don't like self-preservation votes. If you've got a suspicion, please out it in the thread. For now, I'm seriously considering voting you, as you're the last player that could be a potentially inactive spammer that I don't have a read on (unlike Araris, who I'm reading mildly village). Now that that's out of the way, I'll continue working down the list of active players. Next on the list is metabard. He is the crusader, who'd publicly claimed to being role-blocked onee (and got caught in drought's redirect thing the other time) ( @NotASteelClone, what makes you think Vashikaran isn't in the game? That might be relevant, as it goes directly counter to Metabards claim). They where the one to kill Roadwalker N1, so they definitely didn't get converted D1, and I know that they where probably aware of the role-naming convention through contact with Ada, which mean I don't think they could have been converted before N2. This cycle the spammer kill and their own manifested separately, so they also cannot be the last remaining elim. I personally don't think they are converted, as he's been active enough to submit the elim kill the cycles it didn't materialize, and he could have reused the 'roleblocked' excuse, while at the same time taking out those that knew his role to avoid being outed that way. Next up is fifth Scholar. I'm leaning neutral-ish on him. He could have been a spammer as early as D2, despite being the other wagon against devotary, as it should be noted that of those that voted on him, only Devotary was likely to be an elim at the time, and Alvron for some reason didn't get involved in creating a tie involving him. Apart from that, there isn't much I can say about him. he definitely seems very involved in solving the game, but that's fairly NAI in his case. @Furamirionind, can you explain why you vouch for those 3 players? I could see cadcom in particular being Babayi's convert.

Actually, he used his kill D2, not N2, so he'd have an action ready for N2 if I'm not mistaken? Plus, given that he could use the kill D2, there's no reason to assume he couldn't use the conversion D3, unless it happened after the lynch. @A Joe in the Bush, @xxGaea, could Babayi have used the conversion during a day-cycle, and does it happen before the lynch?

Araris was successfully converted by me, so don't worry about that. @Furamirionind, can you explain your vote? It seems you've drawn some sort of conclusion based on the night kill, so I'd like to know what it is, as I'm not seeing the logic here behind the kills. edit: Today's kills show that Metabard can't be the sole remaining spammer, so unless one of Araris or Walin is evil (or there was a second Babaji. @A Joe in the Bush, are the spammer roles unique, or could one role be present multiple times?), he's pretty much cleared of being the convert. @Seventh Saint, can you explain why the elims would have to have converted N1? I personally think they didn't convert before N2, but if you're right, it'd clear a couple of people.

The problem with both of those is that they are unlikely to be the OG elim, though they could be a convert. Based on the elim behaviour in recent cycles, e is the more likely candidate though, but right now I'm not really seeing either. I'm not saying you shouldn't use your ability at all, just that I'm uncertain which of these two would be the better shot.

So are you saying that people taking 'fake' actions (like iirc cadcom said he did to avoid sookesiled doing odd things with his role) sometimes got told whether they got redirected, or also people that didn't submit an action at all? Because if its the previous option, I'd be a lot less suspicious of Snipexe,a s I don't see them missing the elim kill if they where around to submit it. Anyway, It should be noted that Snipexe protecting Cadcom after the vote does actually fit, as Snipexe voted based on Cadcoms request, not a belief in his guilt. So because of that, I'll be moving my vote off snipexe and onto Walin

The following people have been nominated so far: Furami, Elandera, Devotary, fifth, mailliw, orlok tsubodai, wilson, young bard, Sart, joe, cadcom, mr doctor and steel. Of these, the following have indicated they can play: Elandera, Furami (I think? can you confirm, @Furamirionind?) The following have indicated that they can't: Mailliw, Alvron (premptively), Steeldancer, Fifth and lastly these people have yet to respond to the nominations: @Devotary of Spontaneity, @Orlok Tsubodai, @little wilson, @Metabardnition, @Sart, @A Joe in the Bush, @Cadmium Compounder and @Mr Doctor. If you've been nominated, please confirm whether you can play or not. Did I miss anyone?- 636 replies

Well, he did do something to know he was redirected (I assume? @A Joe in the Bush, are you told you've been redirected if you took no actions?), so if he was in fact redirected as he claimed, I'm actually less suspicious of him.

@Furamirionind, is that vote of yours enough to do the thing you do, or do I need to vote on you as well? Anyway, by my reckoning from last cycle, Snipexe would now make the best lynch, unless someone can confirm that they redirected actions from Cadcom to Xinoehp. If Snipexe flips village, the lack of claim to help clear Snipexe will be suspicious in and of itself, which should narrow the field for finding the convert, if there is one. Anyway, I've been inexcusable lazy, so running on the logic that there is a convert, I'm going to get a start on analyzing the rest of the players. I'll run by the assumption that no one was converted until N2 at the earliest, so use that as a starting point for this pass. First one is Elandera. One of the first things I noticed is that, especially as the game progresses, she's been putting in effort. Putting the case against Fifth together is indicative of someone willing to put some serious effort into solving the game, though it's shame she didn't cast a slightly wider net. I've seen nothing that really makes me suspicious of her or doubt her intentions much, so I'm reading her pretty solidly as village right now. Next up on the list of more active players is Furami. And straight away I notice something interesting. During N3 they listed Alvron as being their primary suspicion, though wihtout much in the way of explanation: But afterwards the only interaction with Alvron was them marvelling at the role they claimed (which had not been proven in any way yet). They never brought up their suspicion during D4, and only stated completely believing Alvrons role-claim after Alv had flipped. Now, I won't deny that the role-claim sounded believable, but at that point the elim-team should have seen enough roles to be able to believably fabricate one, and afaik Furami sin't one to be fooled so easily without at least doing a bit of follow-up checking. This makes me suspicious that they might be the convert. More will follow at another moment.

Elandera Furami (edit: oops)is looking in an interesting direction by looking at which players have 'free' night actions, but I'll have to disagree on the (maybe) lack of elim kills being an elim ploy. If there where less of us alive I could see it, but right now there's at most 2 elims left on a total of 14 players, so that gambit would get discovered before it did irrecoverable damage(as the last two possible inacitve elims are Araris and Walin). What might be possible is that, for whatever reason, the convert has a role they need to use every night or risk getting found out, stopping them from putting in the elim kill, with either no OG eliminators left, or the last OG eliminator being inactive. On that front, I'm once again curious about the crusader. As far as I can tell they refrained from killing for several cycles, and now seem to be back after I stated some suspicion for their lack of action in the thread yesterday, so it might be that they're the convert. They're also the only player I can think off outside the Joes with a visible enough night action that it might force their hand. As I don't know who they are, I'll leave it to Ada to figure that one out for now.* Speaking of the Joes, I just got converted, and assuming that all other Joes have converted as well, after next night we'll have our secondary win-con complete as everyone should have been converted. *anyone wants to take a bet that Ada is both the convert and the crusader, and his claimed role was intended to fake us all out?
