Heh, fifth scholar *being targeted by*surviving that attack is at the same time a good and a bad thing. The good thing is that it means we didn't lose anyone this night. The bad thing is that I'd hoped to be able to absorb the attack myself, as I had pulled pewter last cycle. Regarding tin-eye 1's message, I'd say I'm very much against it. Unless either the inquisitor or the henchman is currently under threat, the inquisitor has no great need to continue converting right now, and tin-eyes actually represent something of a problem for the elims. Yhey are generally a pretty bad option to hit with a convert, as they could have set up things in such a way that they get lynched as soon as they stop checking in with their tin-eye messages.
-
Or alternatively, they could use a PM chain to pass that info along without revealing themselves, or if the third message wasn't from a mistborn at all, but form a regular tin-eye, they could just use their tin-eye message. Either way, if ti had been a false gambit on my part, there would be a bunch of ways to call me out without revealing unnecessary information to the thread. So, in case future role-claims are made that are actually false, remember that there are generally safe ways to spread the info as long as PM's are open. As for rick-rolling, it might only very rarely come forward, but I can be a bit of a troll at times

Warning: I'm currently quite tired, so this is going to be rambly and/or sounding a bit annoyed when i don't mean to. My apologies in advance. I'm sorry but this is something that is just not true AFAIK. When have I been known to coast for alignment indicative reasons? Irrespective of my alignment, I try to do the best analysis I can, because irrespective of my alignment, that is the best way to win. If I'm not doing as much analysis as I normally do, then that's because I just don't have the time to do so, and there's nothing alignment indicative about it. Actually, screw it. I might as well bite the elim night attack for this. I'm Mistborn. That third tin-eye message was mine. That should lay tor est any of the fears that I am the inquisitor. Anyway, I'm going to move my vote to StrikerEZ. I didn't particularly like his vote on Aman, and his vote on Araris 'for the chaos' doesn't make much sense to me right now either. Given that the elim team is only 2 people right now, 'controlling the lynch' is hardly alignment indicative. If anything, ti indicates that other people aren't as involved as they could be.
-
That's the thing though. I don't really have any solid suspicions, at least not ones that are more solid than why i initially voted for Shanerockes. I'm considering moving to either Lumgol or Striker, but I'd like to see if they have any responses.
-
Actually, I wasn't really around at the end of that day, at least not in the sense that I could have kept up with that crazy set of votes near the end. I was DM-ing a game of dungeons and dragon at the time, and while I was able to check the thread during short breaks, that's not teh same as being actively engaged with everything that was happenign aroudn turnover. Regarding the whole Aman/Fifth/Lumgol mess, I think I made my position clear on that, namely that I didn't think a double-lynch was a good idea, and that given the situation at that time I'd far prefer the lynch of an inactive over that of an active player, especially one like Aman that promotes activity in others as well. I saw no reason at the time to be suspicious of Lumgol, and I don't trust my gut enough to follow it into a vote on a very active and productive villager D1, and I was fairly certain that Aman was a villager, so the stance I took, namely 'none of the above' sounds quite reasonable to me. more to come in a bit, I've finished my studying for today and should be able to invest some time in analysis now. edit: Okay, starting with some general reads. Fifth is probably village. Him moving things closer to a tie during the end of D1 is not really elim-like behaviour at all. That's also just about the only person I've got anywhere near a solid read on. There where a couple of other things that stood out to me. One was Bard's reads list on N1. Dismissing a bunch of people as not suspicious due to gut reads feels... reckless? I've stated some suspicion of Devotary before, and I'm not really leaning one way or another on BR and Araris. @Young Bard, do you still stand by that set of reads? Another things was striker's 'calling' of Aman's bluff. I'm kinda having trouble seeing the village logic behind that, but I could see an elim going 'sure, I'll take it' on Aman's offered sacrifice. For the same reason, I'm somewhat suspicious of Lumgol now. The post in which they voted on Aman had some other interesting bits in it as well, including a rather casual assumption that the village would have more vote manipulation than Aman, so the loss/transfer of his wouldn't matter as much. Lumgol's comment on tin-eyes making good converts is also somewhat interesting, as it was my experience in LG32 that the opposite is the case, with tin-eyes being able to arrange things in such a way that converting them will result in them getting lynched without ever having to publicly claim.

I've looked back over The previous cycle, specifically checking for people that overall seemed mostly disengaged from the discussion, or at least seemed to be fairly low-profile. In addition to shanerockes, @Snipexe also seemed to mostly stay away from the discussion. Devotary was involved somewhat in the discussion, but on closer inspection they seemed to be hesitant to commit. Her posts mostly feel like she's providing commentary on what was happening, rather than being actively engaged and trying to steer things in one direction or another. The impression I got was that she was actually fine with Aman's sacrifice, but didn't want to outright state that. Maybe that's my tired head just over-analyzing stuff though. @Devotary of Spontaneity, you mentioned before that after a smiting died the inquisitor would be fair game. well, a misting has died, and the inquisitor got a conversion, so maybe join the hunt?
-
I can see, somewhat, why people are voting bard currently, but I can't find the motive here. Bard wasn't at risk from the lynch at the time, and since there was just the inquisitor in C1 he'd have had no reason to take a risks like that to save anyone else. Unless someone has reason to believe that bard knew something about Lumgol's role, I don't really see Bard's vote on Lumgol as being alignment indicative. If anything, its a bit too risky for the elim, though that way lies the IKYK rabbit-hole. Regarding Fifth underselling the potential elim's power, it could be a tell, but the way he seemed to be gearing up for a sacrificial play at the end of C1 just doesn't make sense if he was the inquisitor. I think I'm going to put a vote on Shanerockes for now. @shanerockes, Shanerockes, your only real activity so far has been to fend off a vote on you by Aman, after which you quietly faded into the background again. Since voting apparently works to get you to say something, is there anything you want to add to the game so far. Anyone stand out to you in a good or bad way? If you were the inqusitor, what kind of recruitment strategy would you use?
-
Hmm, you're right. I think I had some rules from a different game in my head where there was both a day and a night action, but I assume that's not the case in this game. It wasn't in LG32, at any rate.
-
It's one of the two space-focused tracks that's offered by the aerospace engineering faculty (the other is focused on the technical details of making spacecraft works, such as power generation and heat management and the like). I should probably attempt to say something useful in addition to talking about my studies Anyway, I've quickly skimmed over those last-minute voting shenanigans again, and I've got to say that fifth's vote is quite interesting. Every other post or so off his has been giving me elim vibes, especially that first post of his this night cycle. However, moving his vote like that really isn't an elim thing to do unless the inquisitor has some sort of vote manip power that made him feel safe, so this makes me lean more village towards him, unless some evidence of inquisitor uber-rioting or whatever surfaces.

Space exploration. So a mix of general rocket science (orbital dynamics, propulsion maths, etc.) and planetary sciences (how to interpret data from remote sensing instruments and general knowledge regarding our solar system).
-
I think ti was mostly because a 1-man elim team or a 2-man elim team makes a pretty big difference. A 1-man elim team would act fairly indistinguishable from a villager, because they don't have a team they'd want to keep alive. Once there's 2 elims then ideally we'd start seeing signs of potential team-work. Also, just as a heads-up for everyone: My activity is about to go down significantly. I should still be able to check in regularly and post 1-2 times a day, but I likely won't have time for any really in-depth analysis as I kinda need to finish writing a master's thesis over the next month

Okay, just a quick comment before I go to bed. One thing that helped the village during LG32 was the soothers using their powers to essentially make themselves confirmed good as long as their soothes went through. This made them basically inconvertible and unlynchable, while also being an obvious target for the night kill and therefore often getting protection. Aman's death effectively shuts a repeat of that strategy down, assuming that the inquisitor didn't already have a spike to make it more difficult. I wonder if the inquisitor knew this, and if it influenced their stance towards the Aman lynch. Its not much to go by, but if I find enough spare time in the coming days I'll see if this tread leads to anything.
-
Ugh, I'm to busy right now and too tired to do the proper read-through, but I feel like I'm missing a piece of logic somewhere. I'm tempted to vote fifth to resolve that gut read, but I don't particularly trust my gut and it could also mean losing 2 high-profile villagers C1.
-
I see your argument for not lynching the inquisitor C1, as it'd make for a short and not very exciting game, so in my ideal world (prioritizing a fun game over an efficient win) we'd lynch an inactive this turn. It should get the game going, one way or another, without denying the ability to play to someone that's clearly active and engaged with the game.
-
I think a double-lynch would be a bad idea right now. Lynches are low information right now, so I can't see a good reason to lynch two people right now unless there are very good arguments for both being evil.
-
Are you aware that a tie results in both people dying, not just a random pick?
-
I've got it on about 18%, but then again, I don't have access to your role PM. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not writing you off as confirmed good anytime soon. I also think you shouldn't underestimate the effect you have on the games you play by encouraging other people to participate. Last Mr's threads became a lot longer once you got active, and that wasn't just because you post a lot.
-
They are not. They've played a number of games under the names ax's boyfriend and ark. Tssk, you should reread the first 2 cycles of LG32. Aman made a grandiose challenge against the inquisitor... and promptly got killed off by a village coinshot for his troubles Now that's a way of calling someone's bluff! Anyway, back to the game itself. I actually thought Aman might have been a tin-eye,as that's another role that's very easy to prove. More importantly, I wouldn't expect any of the possible inquisitor spikes to give them an anonymous message power, but I'm not 100% certain he wouldn't have some form of emotional allomancy spike that could be used to emulate being a soother. I definitely understand Aman's arguments for making the game more interesting, but they are NAI. Likewise, I can see where fifth is coming from with his arguments against it, but I'd say its likewise NAI from him. It could be fifth being a worried villager, or the inquisitor trying to appear very villager. Either way, I'm against lynching Aman until C3 at the earliest because he talks a lot, giving us stuff to look at if he flips evil, and he generally encourages participation by other people with pointed questions which is very useful for the village. I would like to go on record here that Fifth is giving me a bit of a bad gut feeling. I think it's coming from the way he seemed to overemphasize him checking aspects of the inquisitors powers with Straw, but I don't know, and I don't generally act on gut feelings. I'm going to vote on Rayofsunshine @RayOfSunshine. They are active on the Shard, just not in this thread so I'm having trouble seeing why they haven't checked in so far.
-
Yeah, I've talked to them a bit in PM's too, though I think activity in PM's isn't a substitute for activity in the thread. Activity in PM's is something that's a lot harder to analyze and judge after all, and a lot easier to make inaccessible to the village if one of the members of a PM is an elim.
-
Shanerockes, can you explain the reasoning behind this vote? It seems Aman voted on you merely because of activity, while this revenge vote seems odd at first glance. It seems designed to save your own life and discourage people from voting on you (because if they did, they'd risk being voted on in retaliation), rather than trying to discover information. Though this first cycle is somewhat unusual given the nature of this game, this vote still stands out to me as being seemingly motivated by a very non-village sentiment, being survival at any cost. edit: ninja'd by Aman.
-
My comment wasn't aimed specifically at you, but your defense has been noted .

Allright then, I'm mostly rested up, so time to say something useful! *reads thread* ...time to agree with the people that said all the useful stuff already! I agree that we need a lynch C1 because it's necessary to get the game moving. Ideally we'd end up lynching an inactive smoker, as copper is a very unfortunate power for the elims as it actually makes them easier to find (anyone immune to emotional allomancy is automatically suspect). I think Aman wouldn't be a good pick for the first lynch, as I'm fairly certain I know what power he claimed, and I'd like to keep that one in the game for a couple more cycles Speaking of Aman's claim, if he has the metal I think he has, then the claims as a whole makes rather a lot of sense I think. He would be a likely candidate for conversion because he's pretty good at this game, but would be caught very quick if converted because of the game's mechanics, so I could see village!Aman publicly discouraging the inquisitor from converting him to make the game more fun for both him (not getting lynched early after getting converted) and the inquisitor (not wasting a conversion). It could be a gambit by elim!Aman as well, so I'm not putting him in the 100% cleared camp yet, but ti doesn't feel odd to me. I don't know how useful all the speculation on the metals is though. Looking back on what was used in previous games does give us something of a framework on what to expect, but it feels like a rather empty and safe topic to do really in-depth discussion on beyond 'be aware that the inquisitor has special powers. These are the ones they had in the last two games.' Anyway, the person I'm most suspicious of right now is @Devotary of Spontaneity, for not having been confirmed 100% good yet. In all seriousness though, Elim!Devotary is scary and sneaky, so I'd love to hear more from her. I'll try to get a serious vote in at some point, but I'm rather lost right now.

Eliza strained her ears, trying to overhear a conversation on the other side of the dining hall. A group of the more formidable noblewomen where having a rather animated conversation. It could just be about the dresses worn during last week's ball, but it could also be about something more interesting. She wished she was sitting closer, so she could overhear. "Lady Deveill, a pleasure to meet you. Though it seems you where mistaken given the direction I would be arriving from." Eliza turned back to her table with a start at the sound of her dinner partner's voice. "Ah, ehm, I was just trying to overhear what the fuss the ladies over there where making was about. Oh, and it's a pleasure to meet you once again, lord Agenar." The man smirked as he took his seat. "You where trying to overhear a conversation on the other side of this room, over the din of all the other conversations happening? That'd be quite the feat, especially since I've been given to understand that you are definitely not a tin-eye." Eliza cursed softly. This'd probably be the start of another set of rumours about her supposed abilities, just as rumours had started when she arrived in Luthadell with a coin-pouch on her belt, or when she'd been seen practicing basic hand-to-hand combat with her guards. She really wasn't equipped to handle the politics and rumourmill of the big city, but with the recent... shrinking... her family had undergone she'd been forced to move o the city and take up the duties of her house's future leader. "My lady? I hope I did not give offence with my idle speculation." Her dining partner brought her attention back to the here and now. "Ah, my apologies. These past weeks have been taxing." She tried to smile. "Directly on to business, or shall we wait for dinner to be served first?" *** For those interested, here's the elim doc from LG32. The inquisitors special metals at the time were: Uber-Iron in particular is one to keep in mind, as it can be a potential late-game game-changer if a similar ability exists in this game. Coinshots should exercise extreme caution in their PM's. Anyway, it's late and this post got eaten once already, so I'll check back in tomorrow with some more in-depth thoughts.

Not taking it seriously, just further escalating the joke

I'm afraid that the implementation off this feature also brings with them an on-site solution for the elim-doc, which has the same feature. (un)Fortunately that means that your elim buddy will only see your warning after they have seen the write-up too
