Few members of the Set paid attention to Shanerockes. They always seemed to glide under the radar and avoid attention. Some people weren’t even sure they had a Character at all. This suited Shanerockes just fine. Their skill at observing others unnoticed had landed them a position in the Research subset, and from there he’d worked his way up. Sure, his eventual promotion to Suit had required arranging a couple of ‘accidents’ for the other officers in the Subset, but still. If by ‘accidents’, you meant ‘arrests’, of course. Things were getting heated within the Set though, and Shanerockes wasn’t sure how much longer he could keep up the facade. Luckily, headquarters had promised to make arrangements to extract the remaining agents if things got too hot. And he was glad they had. Things had started well, with the usual aimless accusations. But then that bloody Scalar had started holding a speech, extolling the virtues of the other accused and insinuating that Shanerockes wasn’t quite who they claimed to be. So, seeing the writing on the wall, Shanerockes had made his escape. The door ahead of him would lead to a back alley, at the end of which a carriage would be waiting to take him to safety. There was only one problem. The door was locked. Shanerockes looked around wildly, trying to figure out why things weren’t going according to the plan. This was the door he’d been informed about, and he’d been assured that it’d be unlocked. So why wouldn’t the rusting thing budge? The loyal members of the Set were already looking for him, and he could hear the pursuers getting closer. Shanerockes decided to forgo subtlety and gave the door a solid kick, causing it to rattle in its hinges. Another kick caused the door to creak and crack, and a third would have caused it to finally swing open. Unfortunately, he never got the chance for that third kick, as by that time the loyalists had caught up with him. When the hunters returned, they carried with them a small leather wallet, containing the bloodied badge of an EBI agent. Proof that, once again, mob justice had caught one of the infiltrators. *** Shanerocke's death had one unforeseen consequence, however. Each Subset has protocols for emergencies and the death of their entire leadership certainly counted as one. And so, the research Subset quickly and quietly just... disappeared. Reports where destroyed, research papers were buried, and the remaining Scalars scattered to the four winds, waiting for a signal that the threat to the Set had been dealt with, and it was safe to re-emerge. *** Shanerockes has been lynched. He was a Thug EBI agent and a Suit in the Research Subset. They where the last member of the Research subset. It seems something time-zone related has shifted (or I've just been bad at converting between time-zones from the game's start). Either way, there's still a little under 15 minutes left in this cycle, and I'll announce the times in CET from now on, because I'll be certain that's the correct time for me. edit: I checked, and apparently the US entered daylight savings time yesterday, while Europe didn't. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused

The commissioner had to resist the urge to shake her head in disbelief. The agent’s infiltration effort had seemed doomed, with their numbers rapidly dwindling. Yet now things had started to look up for them. Several Subsets had lost important members, and it seemed that the report was suggesting that some members of the Set had defected and were providing information to the EBI. And yet, she hadn’t been informed of any of that in the short progress reports that had made their way to her desk over the past weeks. She was very concerned about the integrity of her own organization now, as proof of an organized effort to keep her in the dark kept mounting. Despite everything, the infiltrators had kept their operation running and were making important arrests. She wondered if Kidpen resented his incarceration, or if he was happy to not have to face an inquisition like on the previous day again. She put it on the substantial list of things she’d have to ask the captured Set members once she got the chance. *** Kidpen has been arrested. They were a loyal suit in the research subset player list: Day 5 has begun. It will end march 9th at 6PM EST

Discussion had quieted down after mr. King’s arrest. Previously outspoken members of the Set now kept their own council, worrying that they would be next. Yet not everyone had been cowed into silence. ‘Mr. Bubblegum’, fresh from his recent success in revealing a member of the EBI and the successful rebranding of his organisation pushed for an attack on the Set member known as Kidpen. This proved to be a mistake. “Now listen here, ‘Mr Bubblegum’, Kidpen happens to be a trusted friend of mine.” one array pointed out. “Yeah, you think that just because you got one EBI agent that that means you can go around accusing anyone you want?” Another spoke up. “And what kind of Alias is ‘mr. Bubblegum’ anyway?” A particular Scalar brought up. “Yeah, it’s so obviously a fake name that it kinda defeats the purpose.” Another voice added. “You know, I wouldn’t expect a name like that from one of ours. An EBI agent trying badly to fit in, however...” A third voice piped up. “Now wait just a minute!” Mr. Bubblegum spoke up as the mob started turning against him. “Just because the name I chose isn’t to your liking doesn’t mean that...” He didn’t get to finish his sentence as a single pistol shot rang through the room. *** Young bard has been lynched. He was a loyal array in the 'Involuntary Holidays' subset. Vote tally: Kidpen (2): Bard Alv (1): Rath, Elk Bard (3): Shanerocks, Alv, Kidpen Night 4 has begun. It'll end the 7th of march at 6PM EST

The Set member known as the god king by his compatriots knew that trouble would find him sooner rather than later. He knew too much, after all. And so he made his preparations. So that, when the EBI finally came knocking, he’d be ready. ‘If you read this, I’m most likely dead’ He stopped a moment to consider. His will really shouldn’t get out there before his death, so why the uncertainty. Maybe he should make it ‘Since you’re reading this, I am dead’? Though that sounded pretty pessimistic. And what if he’d ask someone to proofread it later? That sentence wouldn’t be true in that case. He grimaced. Writing your last words was hard. He’d gone through two drafts already, and this third one didn’t look any more promising. Maybe he should just focus on the important content, rather than the specific logistics of the message’s contents. “So, what’s eating you?” The woman sitting two chairs over from him in the small bar asked. “I’ve seen you coming here for several days now, and you always just sit here, slaving away at one document or another.” “It’s none of your business.” he replied brusquely. Though some help on the opening sentence might be appreciated, the document itself would contain several secrets that weren’t the business of anyone outside the Set. “Alright, suit yourself then.” Her attention turned back to the broadsheet she’d been reading. The god king, meanwhile, tried to work out which secrets to reveal, and what to keep secret. Full disclosure would be the most helpful, but you never knew who might intercept his message… The door opened, and a man in a heavy coat entered the bar and started walking towards him. The god king tensed. The man would walk up to him and draw a gun, or maybe a knife and… The man walked straight past him and stopped by the woman that had spoken up earlier. The god king’s shoulders sagged as the tension left him again, and he turned his attention back to his Will. Maybe instead of… something the woman said caught his attention. “...I’d have shot the bastard.” His head snapped around to the two people next to him, and was greeted by the unwelcome sight of a pair of gun barrels and a badge. “Oh, so you were paying attention after all?” the woman said. “Anyway, it seems it’s your lucky day, as I’ll only be arresting you for, oh, how about the murder of three agents of the Elendel Bureau of Investigations, for starters?” “Stand up slowly, and no sudden movements please, Mr. ‘king’.” The female agent's companion said as he gestured with his own revolver. “You really don’t want to give my colleague an excuse.” The Array slowly followed their instructions, feeling a strange mixture of relief and worry. It had finally happened. Would his preparations be enough. As the agents marched him out of the bar, neither noticed the small strip of copper he’d left wrapped around the base of his chair. *** The God King has been arrested. He was a loyal array in the Research Subset and a copper Ferring. He has left an unkeyed coppermind in a safe place for others to find. Day 4 has begun. It'll end the 6th of March 6PM EST.

Rather than calming the mood in the Set, the quiet night instead caused more worry and strife. “What are they waiting for?” an anxious Array asked. “Maybe they’re preparing to arrest us all in one fell swoop now that they’ve got the Sequence?” a spooked Suit suggested. “Maybe they were all just asleep?” Pete Zahutt wondered. “Yarra, does look pretty sleepy.” Elandera pointed out. “Hey, Yarra, did you have anything to do with the lack of action by the EBI last night?” The discussion quickly went down this track of reasoning, and things might have ended badly for Yarra or anyone else looking particularly sleepy if the man who insisted on being known as ‘Mr. Bubblegum’ hadn’t interjected. “I don’t know about anyone being sleepy, but I do know that Elandera went on a little involuntary vacation last night.” His proclamation was met with blank stares and confused looks. “She was given a time-out?” ‘Mr. Bubblegum’ tried again. This ‘clarification’ only led to more confused mutterings, however. “Aargh, listen! I had some of my people whack her over the head and then keep an eye on her to ensure she didn’t get up to anything nefarious, is that clear? Look, I’ve even got her wallet to prove it happened.” General nods of assent and understanding followed. “Seriously, you’d think people in a secret society would understand euphemisms and subtlety.” ‘Mr Bubblegum’ muttered. After this proclamation, the crowd quickly started to turn against Elandera. Though she made a valiant effort protesting her innocence, the mood in the crowd quickly turned grim as hands started to reach for weapons. She wasn’t going to go without a fight, however, as she quickly drew her own revolver. “ Ruin take this. You’re all under arr-” She didn’t get the chance to finish her sentence, as 3 bullets, 2 coins and a hat with reinforced rim hit her all at about the same time. *** As 'Mr. Bubblegum' left the meeting, a young man, ranking as a mere Scalar in the Set, approached him. "I understand what you were saying during the meeting. 'Kidnapping sounds so...uncivilized. If you want, I could have a chat with my boss about a little re-branding effort though." *** Elandera has been lynched. She was a copper Ferring EBI agent and an Array in the Legal Subset. Though some copperminds where found to be in her possession, none where found to be unkeyed. Copper Ferring: You can prepare a message of any length in your own coppermind (this needs to be done before your elimination, but doesn’t take an action), which becomes available to read for other copper Ferrings on your death. One more hour, people. Get your actions and votes in!

If an action that would normally have some effect visible in the write-up is roleblocked, it will not be mentioned. If it is prevented from succeeding in some other way, it will be mentioned. So, for example, if some kind of attack action was taken and it was roleblocked, it would not be mentioned. If it was instead not roleblocked, but taken against a gold ferring, the write-up would mention something like 'player was attacked, but survived'.

That is correct. I asked for one post per full cycle, not one each day and each night.

The commissioner had taken a moment after finishing reading the report on the death of the second of her agents to finish and sign the letters to the man's next to kin. Once that unfortunate task had been seen through, she launched straight back into reading the report. After the Arrest of the Sequence, discussion got a lot more focused, though no less deadly. First in the spotlight was Catamire Dalageth, though suspicion focused on them disappeared almost as quickly as it came, though rather inexplicably so, almost as if someone had issued a gag order of some sort. Soon after though, two other members of the Set were placed under suspicion. Esualpla Dowenger and Mundric Pentasum mutually accused one another of being EBI infiltrators, and soon enough others got involved as well. Tensions rose, and the crowd seemed to turn against Mundric until… “Oy, could you all listen here for a second!” A usually quiet Scalar had climbed up on a table to address the varied members of the Set and the underlings that had been sent by others to argue on their behalf. “Now, I get why you’re all suspicious of Mundric, I really do. But there’s one thing in his defense that none of you seem to have considered.” A this the young man lifted up his hat and showed it to the crowd. “I bought this hat from Mundric here, and it’s the best hat I’ve ever had. It fits me perfectly, both in size and in style. And I doubt I’m the only one he has furnished with a useful piece of headware.” A general murmur of assent ran through the crowd. “Well, you know what they say about hats, right? ‘If your hat fits, please don’t tear Mundric to bits!’” And with a bow the man jumped down from the table again under a general cheer from the crowd. Mundric got to live and sell hats for another day. Esualpa, however, was not so lucky. They were quickly taken down while stealthily trying to make their way to an exit, and though they put up a decent fight, they couldn't make it count against the numbers against them, only managing to wound a couple of low-ranked Scalars and Additions before they where overwhelmed and taken down. A moment of silence permeated the crowd as the bloodlust settled down again and people got to grips with what they’d done. Then Rath Maskal burst in through the door that Esualpa had been trying to leave through. “Listen, I’ve found out something about...oh” The man looked down at the corpse at his feet. “Nevermind then… wait, what’s that?” He pointed at a glint of metal visible in one of Esualpa’s torn coat pockets, then knelt down to take it out. “It seems to be a.. badge?” *** Butt ad Venture has been lynched, they were an EBI agent and an array in the communications subset vote tally: Abstrusity(2): Venture, Elkanah, Elandera Coda(0): young bard Venture(3): Abstrusity, Kidpen player list The night has now begun. Victoria Stadtt pondered the state of the Set as she traveled home from the festivities organised by her fellows. The viciousness of Drah’s execution bothered her. She’d expected them to do better, to not let those fools in the EBI stir up the organization this much. She’d have to do something about that. Her deliberations were interrupted as her carriage came to a halt in front of her house, a stately mansion in one of Elendel’s older neighbourhoods. She descended from the carriage into the mansion’s courtyard as one of her bodyguards approached to escort her inside. He was a relatively new addition to her security team, but he came recommended by several of her higher-ranked subordinates. “Ah, Malone. Have any messages arrived while I was away?” She asked. “As a matter of fact, several messages have arrived. I believe this one to be the most pressing though.” The bodyguard took a neatly folded piece of paper from the pocket in his jacket, as well as a leather wallet of some sort. “And what might that be?” Victoria asked, as she motioned for the guard to lead her inside. The guard didn’t budge. “It’s your arrest warrant.” He flipped open the leather wallet, revealing a shiny badge identifying the holder as a member of the Elendel Bureau of Investigation. “Lady Victoria Stadtt, you’re hereby under arrest for kidnapping, extortion, money laundering, conspiracy to overthrow the Elendel government and, well, a lot more, but if I were to read the entire thing, we’d be here all night.” The man smiled apologetically as agents of the regular Elendel constabulary started appearing from within her house and from hidden positions in the courtyard. The Set’s Sequence didn’t bother with a response. She knew she’d be freed quickly, just as soon as her loyal Arrays and Suits could clean the Set of the EBI's infestation. *** The commissioner of the EBI frowned as she reread the last two paragraphs of the report. She’d been kept apprised of the arrests, of course, but she’d been told that the first arrest had only been of a moderately high-ranking member of the Set, not of the organization’s leader herself. That oversight worried her. Could her own organization have been infiltrated in some manner, resulting in crucial information being denied to her? She resolved to find out the source of this miscommunication and correct it, just as soon as she was finished with the report. *** The Sequence’s arrest sent a shock through the rest of the organization. Few knew what her role had truly been, but the lack of a guiding hand was immediately felt. The various Subsets scrambled to compensate and work on a strategy to free her. One member of the Set saw the writing on the wall, however. They knew that, with the Sequence’s arrest, it’d be only a matter of time before the rest of the organization would fall. And so they did the only rational thing, and paid a clandestine visit to the headquarters of the EBI. Promises and information were exchanged, and soon enough they returned to their post within the Set, with knowledge of a meeting spot, and the reassuring weight of a badge in their pocket. *********************** Kynedath was arrested. They were a gold ferring and the Set's Sequence Sequence: You’re the Set’s leadership. You are immune to the lynch, though your rank will be revealed if you are lynched. You will have an anonymous doc to communicate with each individual Suit. If you are arrested, it’d severely hurt the set’s Morale, and might even cause members to defect. Gm note: because this probably needs to be stated very clearly: one member of the Set has defected. If any future defections happen, they will be announced (not who defected, just that it happened, of course). player list: This cycle will end on the 30th 29th, at 6PM EST
