  1. Tssk, no real Scots... I mean, spy has their ID say so. It should look more like this:
  2. Now, listen here you two! I've spent a lot of time and effort on sharpening the sword I,as failed spy, am preparing to fall on here, so why are you trying to ruin the moment ?
  3. I mean, it's a fairly good effort Striker, but I think the game is already up. It should be clear to the elims that the spy was someone that died C1, given the lack of spy-like activity in the rest of the game, so that means it's either you or me. Given the kill targeting me, I reckon the elims already know that it was indeed I that was the spy, and not Striker. I am wondering what gave me away though. I thought I was being really sneaky by ignoring the Alv lynch and going for supporting a mislynch first (again, sorry about that Striker). Either way, well played to the elims!
  4. (I know you didn't ask me, but I might as well use it as a guide-post to start my post off ) Hmmm, okay. I can kinda see what Bard picked up about STINK, but I don't think it's in any way alignment indicative, so I won't vote that way. Alvron doesn't really act any different from last cycle, and I guess his vote on me is understandable as I don't think I'm really acting different either. Regarding Striker, his comments about the odds of me being an elim and stuff kinda felt like a pocketing attempt to me, and I'm tempted to try to lynch him for that. As for other people... I think I see where ITIAH's suspicion is coming from, but I'd actually prefer to lynch Striker and see where that goes before wondering whether Elbereth is an elim that simply jumped on the earliest available nice-looking lynch. Regarding butt add venture, I think his psot is marginally more helpful than Rath's becuase it actually contained avote, but that's about it. I'd like to see some more comments on the game from both him ( @Butt Ad Venture) and @Rathmaskal (and anyone else that hasn't talked much yet). Anyway, for now I'm going to vote on striker(again).
  5. Ehm... Yeah, what Elbereth said, pretty much I doubt that my past role has any bearing on my current role. If anything, historical information suggests that I'm more likely to be an elim if my last game was an elim, as I tend to be on long village or elim streaks, rather than having it mixed up.
  6. Yeah, this is an important one. If you as a spy manage to stay under the radar the entire game, but then on further analysis appear to have a perfect voting record, you're going to be in a bit of trouble Anyway, I'm a bit at a loss of what to say now. Everything I wanted to say I already said last cycle, and everything there was to say about what I had said has also already been said, I think.
  7. Regarding the new rules, the only thing I'm wondering about is whether having the handler no longer reveal as such swings the 'difficulty of finding the spy' too far the other way. Apart from that it all looks fine.
  8. Mostly the way you seemed to tunnel on me. Also, with the way the lynch went we where also suspicious of Alvron and Elbereth because of the way they participated or circled around that lynch, either as handler for you, or you as handler for them
  9. If it makes you feel any better about it, we kinda had some suspicions about you already
  10. Okay, so by my count, the votes are: Detess(2): Striker, Alvron Striker(2): Elbereth, Elandera Rathmaskal(2): Detess, ITIAH Venture(1): Young bard For a total of 7 votes, which isn't all that bad a turnout for C1. Anyway, I'm going to switch my vote from Rathmaskal to Striker, as I'm suspicious of both, and would prefer not to get lynched myself New tally: Detess(2): Striker, Alvron Striker(3): Elbereth, Elandera, Detess Rathmaskal(1): ITIAH Venture(1): Young bard
  11. I've gone through the thread again and there's a couple of things that stand out to me. First of these is venture's post, for pretty much the same reasons highlighted by Bard above. In addition to what bard mentioned, suggesting that the elims use their assassination ability feels just a bit over-acted to me. I'ts obviously meant as a joke, but as a joke with the secondary message of 'I'm totally not an elim, everyone!' That having been said, I'm somewhat hesitant to lynch venture this cycle, as it feels a bit too much like the traditional C1 lynch pattern of 'newish player says something not entirely thought out, experienced player (over)analyses and new player gets lynched as they seem like a fairly easy lynch'. That's maybe a bit of an odd reason to abstain from that lynch, and I definitely hope to see more from venture int he future, but I don't feel like lynching them will be very productive for D1. This post from Rathmaskal has already been highlighted a couple of times, but it did stand out to me as well. I checked with Kas about whether the spy would be told about the roles of the elims, but he said that they would not, so this couldn't have been a spy slip-up. what really struck me was how striker would then defend Rathmaskal several times for this comment, despite using the importance of focusing on slip-ups like this as part of his reasoning against me: As young bard mentioned, the remainder of that post by Rathmaskal does paint them in a bit more of a positive light, but I don't think it's a guaranteed village tell. I remember Rathmaskal being a fairly perceptive and skilled player, so i could see him trying to fake something like this. I know I would if i'd thought of the possibility he seemed to be pondering. Anyway, I'm going to vote on rathmaskal for now. My suspicion of Striker is mostly because of association with Rathmaskal so I'd prefer to lynch Rathmaskal first, but I mgiht change my vote to Striker closer to the end of the cycle to avoid getting lynched myself.
  12. Okay, I probably should make this clear at some point or another, if only for my own peace of mind: It's 'she' and 'her' these days (not meant as a rebuke, just a request)... So I disagree that responding to my question is better than saying nothing. Saying anything game-related is better than nothing in my opinion, and I honestly think that the way someone decides to answer the question can be informative (though unfortunately this is something I hope to recognize it when I see it, so I can't provide a straight example). There where two other reasons for me bringing it up. First of all, the reform spy is the most unique element in this game, and could end up tripping the village up in unexpected ways, so I wanted everyone to think about how this role will influence the game, and my question was meant to encourage that. Second of all, I knew that my suggestion would likely prove to be at least somewhat controversial. First cycles can be quite light on discussion material, so by intentionally bringing in a somewhat controversial topic up there's another source of info for people to analyze. That's not to say I don't believe answering my question is a good thing, just that I expected some people at least to disagree and wanted to see what people did with that discussion. Anyway, right now I'm ever so lightly suspicious of Striker and Rath. A couple of Striker's posts seem designed specifically to defend Rathmaskal, both going against ITIAH's vote and voting on me after Elbereth already expressed some suspicion to try and create a lynch alternative. I'll vote later once I've had some time to look the thread over again and see fi I missed anything.
  13. I considered that angle, but I don't think this is going to be that much of a problem. The elim team is probably about 3-4 people strong so they could already figure out quite a few things between them even without seeing such suggestions in the thread. Furthermore, anything that is listed in the threat automatically becomes an IKYK rabbit-hole, because the elims will have to consider for all of them whether it's the spy doing them, or someone deciding to mimic that listed potential 'tell'. Lastly, I think the kinds of tells someone suggest could potentially be telling in and of themselves, so it gives people that otherwise would think they have nothing to contribute something to add to the thread, which allows everyone else to get a read on them.
  14. So, here I was, seeing the message that I got my role PM in my inbox. I needed to do some cooking first, so I couldn't immediately post, but t gave me some time to think over my first post. And since games had beena bit slow fo aklte I'd decided to do some stuff to try and get peopel talking abit. And then I arrive here to see that people are already talking plenty Anyway, I'll deploy my absolutely fantastic and infallible 'get people talking' tactic later, for now I have a couple of responses, because people are apparently a lot more talkative this time around XD Ehm, I disagree quite a bit here? Anyone that seems to know too much will already be on the elim hit-list, and helping the elims confirm whether it's the spy by attempting alynch seems very counter-productive. I get not wanting to allow an elim to slip by by bussing, but I'll be very suspicious of anyone trying to tip a lynch on someone with the only reason being they 'seem to know too much'. In a way, I think the presence of the spy makes the game harder for the village, because it gives the elims access to a way to clutch the win if everything goes against them, and in a 2vs1 or even 3vs1 situation they're very likely to win if the Spy hasn't been too careful. Anyway, if you're checking in on this thread and find yourself thinking 'I've got nothing to talk about', how about trying to answer this question: If you where an elim, what would you be looking for to try and ID the spy? If plenty of people answer this question, it should give the spy an idea of what not to do (which could be very useful if the spy is a new player), and it should also give everyone else an idea about what they could do to try and muddy the waters for the elims. As for my own answer to that question, if I was an elim I'd be looking for the following behaviours: tunneling on elims for no clear reason: The spy will know who all the elims are, and therefore it might be tempting to try and go after them using reasoning as a shield. Yet, some elims might not be too prone to slipping up, and trying to find 'gotcha's' in anything they say anyway could get you in trouble. Odd reactions to mislynches: I have in the past seen mislynches that just generally seemed really odd or out of place. For someone with perfect knowledge of the guilty those could be very frustrating because it might seem like the village is actively self-sabotaging, but if you show that frustration, it might allow the elims to figure you out. Being sheeped: This is more one for the handler. The handler knows who the spy is, but that doesn't mean they should follow the spy's vote every single time. Such a pattern could become very clear though, especially in the late game.
  15. I'm signing up for this one as well. A small comment on house-keeping: Wouldn't this be more easily achieved by looking back from the last post of the cycle? You'd still count the first red vote, but without the risk of counting an earlier vote ro requiring people to remember and edit all their previous posts (unless someone decided not to vote at all, I guess).
  16. If you feel that way, then there's little I can do about it, but I disagree that Furami did anything wrong. If he'd tried to leverage his situation into trying to get some respite from the lynch or whatever, sure, but he did the opposite, stating that he'd be completely okay with getting lynched/night-killed for reasons unrelated to the game. If I'd been a village striker, I would probably have submitted a kill there as the worst-case was hitting a villager that'd indicated they wanted to step out of the game.
  17. @Haelbarde, you lied to me! You weren't village at all! Oof, this game. The final result might not show it, but this really came down to the wire in the end, and some very minor changes could have changed the entire game. A good example would be @Young Bard redirecting my action on the only cycle I didn't submit the kill, and that final cycle could have gone a lot of different ways. So, first of all I'd like to thank @Furamirionind and @Hemalurgic Headshot for joining me on the elim team. You all did a very good job (yes, even you Furami. Real life happens but despite that you kept posting when you could find the time and energy to do so). I'd also like to thank @Elandera for running the game and writing a bunch of enjoyable write-ups. I've also got some other game-thoughts. First, my act of pretending to be a new player was something I'd decided on in advance, and was not at all influenced by my alignment. I've been rather busy these past months, and hoped that acting like anew player would keep people from expecting too much from me, leaving me free to contribute exactly as much as I had time for. That having been said, I'm now 2/2 on perfect elim games for my first games, so... Regarding how things went down in the end, @Haelbarde, what spurred your decision to kill falcon? I'd like to think it was my expertly engineering the situation to make it look like falcon tricked me into joining the hammer, but that's giving myself way too much credit for how things went down. I might have more thoughts later for now, I'd like tot hank everyone I haven't thanked yet for making this a pretty enjoyable game!
  18. Yeah, I'm wholeheartedly supporting what Alvron and Elandera said. I really don't think you're a bad player at all. You participate in the discussion, you're quite observant and a boon to whatever team you're on. Sure, you don't figure out the identities of all the elims within the first 4 cycles, but no one does that.
  19. Can I just say that I whole-heartedly agree. The nature of the chain means that if it ended before Reaching the thread would have been suspicious, so it's quite possible the inquisitor was in the chain, and maybe warned me it would happen before passing it on, leading to me being in a position to seed misinformation ahead of the reveal. I mean, that might also not be the case, but I'd say it's a possibility you probably shouldn't ignore. Or maybe you should, as I was the one to bring it up in the first place. But then again... edit: also, it's a shame BR had to sub out. She's one of the few people here that would remember MR25, not that the elim's play for victory has any sort of relevance in this game.
  20. To maybe keep a bit of momentum in the game, @Straw, would you consider ending the cycle early if I get over 50% of the available votes before the first 24 hours of the cycle are over?
  21. Aw come on! Couldn't they have done that before I spend all that time pretending to do analysis
  22. In part, but I was also referring to a specific incident from LG32. At least one of the two tin-eyes seems to have claimed to someone. As long as their tin-eye messages keep coming, that person will know they're still good. The moment they stop, that person will know that they've gone evil, and the lynch will follow shortly. The other tin-eye could very well have set up a similar situation, which means that the tin-eyes are essentially 'mines' in the field of conversion that the elims will want to avoid hitting at all cost, because they're duds as far as conversions go. This happened in LG32 where Rae got converted and promptly lynched because she had been a tin-eye. Keeping these 'mines' in means that the elims will ahve to be a lot more careful about who they convert. Anyway, if the lurcher that protected Fifth was in fact asked by someone else to protect him, I'd prefer it if that information made its way to the thread in some way. Fifth is a pretty decent, though maybe slightly too obvious, candidate for conversion, and if at all possible I'd like to rule out the possibility that it was a wgg. Anyway, I do have time for some analysis today, so working down from the top of the player list: Haelbarde Hael feels like he's been playing things relatively safe so far. That's not to say that their contributions haven't been useful, it's just that it's been mostly informative stuff regarding previous games, and exhortations towards activity, with the occasional comment on reads made by other people. I don't find this incredibly suspicious, but I do hope to see more original content from Hael. The one thing that does strike me as somewhat suspicious is their apology for their vote on Lumgol. Pre-emptive apologies for votes always feel wrong to me. As a villager, you should be voting on a suspicion, and therefore there is no reason to apologize, while an elim would know that they where voting on someone innocent, which might prompt the urge to apologize. Overall conclusion: very slight inquisitor lean Burnt Spaghetti Burnt has posted very little so far, though if the PM I got from her is anything to go by, she's probably rather active in PM's. I haven't seen nearly enough from her to form any sort of read, however. Snipexe I've seen very little from Snip-exe so far. he engaged somewhat in the lynch discussion of D1, but only popped up for a quick drive-by vote D2. That vote and its reasons itself are rather interesting though. If snipexe is an elim, then even with little time I'd have expected him to have been informed about the current state of the vote, and because of that he could have sued a somewhat similar argument to end up voting on me for a potentially far easier lynch. Overall a Neutral read. Araris Valerian Araris posts are interesting and sensible for the most parts, but there are two posts that stood out to me: Araris mentions how he'd expect himself to act if he wast the inquisitor a number of times. The first time it is to highlight that inquisitor!araris and village!Araris would do the same thing in that particular situation, and the second time is as part of an accusation of bard, while also neatly showing a contrast between what inquisitor!araris would do and what this-game!araris was doing (namely going after a hard target over a soft target). Maybe I'm reading a bit too much into it, but to me the second mention in particular feels like Araris is trying to highlight how he's currently playing like villager!araris and not like inquisitor!araris. slight inquisitor lean overall Lumgol I mentioned before that Lumgol's vote on Aman stood out to me in a bad way, because she basically stated 'the village probably has more vote manip, so losing Aman wouldn't hurt too much'. The rest of her posts are rather NAI sounding, though her defense of bard for voting on her probably means that they are not both elims. rayofsunshine(formerly known as Ax's Boyfriend) He has posted very little, but based on him catching my cunningly laid trap and the question regarding whether an unsnapped counted as a misting suggest that he's following along with the game. There's nowhere near enough content for me to form a sold opinion, and more importantly, it doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon, which is worrisome. @RayOfSunshine, who do you think is the most suspicious player right now? And who would be the least? shanerockes Shanerockes is in pretty much the same boat as rayofsunshine read-wise, though their posts suggest a bit more of a defensive attitude. @shanerockes, could you answer the question I asked of ray too? Who do you think is the most and the least suspicious right now? Doc12 Doc12 hasn't posted too much yet either, but there's some votes and the like to look at at least. As I highlighted with hael, the apologies accompanying Doc's votes look odd to me. I'd have to check back whether that's a normal pattern for doc or not. Overall I'm not leaning particularly hard one way or another on Doc right now, but I have little doubt that as the game continues Doc will post more and their alignment will eventually become clear. Devotary of Spontaneity I'm still getting the same vibe of Devotary being somewhat distant to the game that I got before, with her more commenting on things that are going on, than proving her own analysis. Therefore, I'm about as suspicious of her as I am of Hael right now. @Devotary of Spontaneity, who would you say you think is the most likely to be an elim, and who do you reckon is the most likely to be village right now? *more coming in a bit* Rathmaskal Rathmaksal was complaining about my lack of long content. i reckon this should appease them somewhat Anyway, Rath has been quite active, but I haven't seen much that makes me lean one way or another right now. This post: contains pretty much the same behavior as I highlighted as potentially suspicious with Araris, with the added bonus of rathmaskal calling it out themselves. I'm not sure what to think of that. On the one hand, if elim!rath recognized the way that post could be interpreted, they might have decided not to word it that way at all. On the other hand, it seems Rath is somewhat self-conscious about how their posts are viewed, which i'd see as more of an elim-trait. Overall, I'm fairly Neutral on Rath as things stand right now. Young Bard I mentioned before that the speed with which they where ruling people out from being the inquisitor seemed to be a bit recklessly quick for village!bard, while it could be a pocketing attempt by elim!bard. On the whole though, Bard doesn't seem afraid to put his cards on the table and share his reads, rather than keeping things close to his chest. I'm leaning very slightly vilalge on him for that. Sart Sart has been fairly inactive too, and there isn't anything I'd consider strongly alignment indicative in his posts. @Sart, why did you vote on Araris? STINK STINK is acting like STINK. last edit, I promise: I skipped over fifth because I didn't want to read all his posts again I firmly believe he isn't the inquisitor, and will re-evaluate his posts for signs of being converted in a cycle or two if I'ms till alive. I also skipped over BR/Elandera. I'll get to them as soon as Elandera has posted a bit more.
  23. I can see why you'd want that claim, but for various reasons I'm mostly going to delay claiming until the cycle after if at all possible. There's a couple of powers I could draw (such as thug last cycle) that lose most of their usability if I claim it immediately. If I'd drawn something like copper that would allow for a quick and easy check if someone manipulated my vote, I'd say so though.
