Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'd hoped to see a response from lumgol by now as well, but I really need to sign off for the days, so for this cycle I'm voting Lumgol. I'm finding it significantly easier to figure out a reason why an elim would do what she did with regards to that information about Cadcom than why a villager would do so. I could see an elim doing what she did to ensure that cadcom's death couldn't be used to cast suspicion on her. If cadcom had leaked the info as a trap, killing cadcom could have easily led to her lynch. However, by sharing the info around, no one in particular would stand out if cadcom did get killed by the elims. The village motive she brought forward was that it was a way to test cadcom's alignment. This sounds somewhat unlikely to me, however. There are far better ways to test someone's alignment than by trying to get them killed by the elims, especially because the information used could lead to the death of a very useful villager (4 breaths is enough to make a rope, after all, and is only 1 breath short of the first heightening), and a decent power-surge for the elims as the influx of 4 breaths would put them closer to tools like a lifeless. If Lumgol had stated previous suspicions of Cadcom I would have found it easier to believe that there was a village motive behind the way she spread out information. As it stands though, the elim motive seems more likely to me. Anyway, I hope this all made sense, as I'm pretty tired right now, which doesn't exactly help with properly formulating a case. -

@Cadmium Compounder, before I place my vote, was Lumgol spreading your claim about breath-count around something arranged between the two of you, or something she undertook on her own? @Lumgol, did you consider sharing Cadcom's claim with only a few people to test their alignment, rather than telling everyone, which in the case of village!cadcom's death, would have revealed no new information apart from Cadcom's alignment? -

I've been reading back over the previous day, and I've got a couple of observations. Lumgol's last vote broke the tie in favor of Sart and Cadcom, if we ignore the presence of the strawman. With Sart going after Cadcom the way he did I'd say that the two of them are probably not elims together, but either of them could be team-mates with lumgol. Joe's seemingly random vote tied Sart with Ark and Cadcom, so I'd say it's less likely for Joe and Sart or Cadcom to both be elims, though it's not impossible if either Lumgol is an elim, or one of the elims had the strawman. (regarding that: @Young Bard, is it possible to have started the game with an item, or does item creation cost no action?) Xinoehp and Elandera added votes in rapid succession, which resulted in the Cadcom bandwagon getting some more competition. Either or both could be elim team-mates with evil!cadcom. I can also confirm that I'm probably blind, as I completely missed Mailliw's vote on ark during the first run of the thread, which makes cadcom's vote look worse. Nothing else in the way votes where placed really stood out to me. Most of this info isn't too useful now, but it's something to keep in mind as the game progresses. Other things that stood out to me where Elandera's comment about bandwagoning. Though I think she might be right where late-cycle vote switches are concerned, I doubt most villagers would jump on a bandwagoning they disagree with at an early point just to get breath, as that'd make things very easy for the elims. So any vote-switches to the leading wagon at the end of the cycle might be NAI, but apart from that all the usual suspicions for bandwagon applies. @Young Bard, there's not player list this time around. I assume that if any lifeless get added, the list would be added to inform us? -

Ark proves what I already suspected, so I think it'd pay to dig into those voting on them. I'd like to note that I dislike this comment. It seems like you're suggesting that there's nothing of value to find in those deaths, so we might as well not look, which is somewhat suspicious. Speaking of the people who voted on ark: @Lumgol and @Cadmium Compounder what are your thoughts on the following topics: PM security The value of people knowing how much breath someone has Sharing potentially important information about other people through PM's- 258 replies

Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Huh, interesting. I'd been hoping to see some form of Bandwagon on Ark start, as he seems to be the easiest lynch because of his vote pattern seeming to be focused on getting breath, not solving the game. However, because it's a so obviously non-village thing to do, I am leaning somewhat village on him. That's not to say that I think his current actions are particularly productive or good for the village, just that I'm inclined to think that he isn't an elim. Anyway,a s I was saying, I'd hoped to see some form of bandwagon against him by now, as that could have given me some additional initial reads. Instead there's cadcom's single vote, which is getting called out by Sart for decent reasons, though Sart's initial vote had similar reason's to cadcom's initial vote. I'm not to sure about what to think about Alvron's vote right now, as it seems to be pretty blatant bandwagoning, so that (alvron) is where I'm going to leave my vote. I don't disagree with the votes on Cadcom, but it feels to me like its a bit early in the game and the cycle to push a lynch into a decent lead without adding new arguments. This is likely my last post this cycle, though I might check in once more in an hour or so if I haven't fallen asleep yet. -

And why are you trying to have a higher chance if a succesful lynch on, as far as I can tell, no one in particular? -

Might I suggest that we are a bit more careful with sharing the exact amounts of breath we have? I'd say that that's rather valuable info to the elims, given that they keep the breath of the ones they kill. @Ark1002, why'd you pick elandera(who already had a vote)instead if anyone else? -

Well, since halfway through the first cycle less than half of the players have checked in, I'm not too hopeful in that regard. *exasperated groan*- 258 replies

I don't have much to add that hasn't been said yet. The elim team did a pretty phenomenal job in this game, and I need to start listening to bad gut feelings when they arise, as maybe Lum would have been lynched D1 in that case. I doubt it though.

Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir

Does that also happen with a kill made by a lifeless? Either way, this is a pretty useful property, as it could make the elims stand out in life sense. -
Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well then, we've got 24 hours to settle on someone to lynch, so that's plenty of time to not do so at the very last minute for a change, right? ...Right? @Young Bard, do the elims get a kill? The rules don't explicitly state that they do, nor do they explain what happens to the breath of someone they kill. If the elims gather the breath of their kills they could potentially very quickly increase their stores of breath, which could make them stand out to those with life-sense, which could be very useful. The second heightening is also very useful for the village, as it might allow them to catch an elim in the act. Among the items, the humble rope should not be underestimated. If the elims rush to create a lifeless by pooling their breath the rope could very simply shut it down. It could also act as a kind of scan for the elim submitting the kill, assuming it works like a regular action, though if there's multiple people chucking ropes around that would only function to narrow the field of suspicion. -

'can predict the future?' is a fairly decent prediction (technically they'd also do for the past and present). The trick is to combine them with tapping Chromium and a load of BS, and maybe something sensible will come from it- 636 replies

If you've got a plan, go for it. I didn't have anything specific in mind, but it is the kind of essence that more obviously combines with a lot of stuff. Anyway, as long as snipexe keeps day-PM's open, I'll keep that item in reserve. If someone expects to really need Pm's during a night cycle, either PM me during the day, or say so in the thread.

Can you refer me to the exact post in which Sart outed cadcom? as far as I could tell he never named the Highspren he was talking about, but I could easily have missed that.

If anyone wants to keep PM's open, combing crystal and smoke gives you an item that opens PM's for a turn. Secondly, Cadcom, I expect that essence to be returned to me ASAP Lastly, I'm pretty suspicious of Sart now. He went after Fifth pretty hard, and given that one of his arguments was about the lack of info-security, him readily outing Fith's claimed role and putting a high-spren in the spotlight reads as odd, to put it mildly. Start then backed off slightly from his suspicions after the lynch had been locked in and shifted blame to the bandwagon for the lynch, which seems typical for an elim knowing he's about to lynch a villager. In the same vein though: @Lumgol, why did you out cadcom as the highspren? as far as I can tell there was little indication that they where the highspren mentioned by Sart.

It looks like this is going to be one of those cycles where all the interesting stuff happens after I've gone to bed. I don't think a lynch on Dapper is warranted at this point given his apparent new-ness. I'm having trouble finding insights to share, so it doesn't surprise me much that a newer player would find little to share as well. @Ark1002, what changed your opinion about Dapper exactly? Lumgol himself stated that his opinions were not exactly rock solid. I really don't have any good reasons to vote on anyone right now, nor do I have the time or energy to go hunting before this cycle is over. Right now I'm leaning slightly village on Snip and Devotary regarding their sharing of their crafting work, but that's hardly a firm read, while I've got a minor suspicion of Levitaph for reasons shared earlier, and I don't think Lumgol's vote on Dapper is warranted this cycle given Dapper being a rather new player. I'm going to refrain from voting this cycle, as I really can't justify any vote right now.

This game feels pretty slow for some reason. Slow enough that I'm having trouble forming suspicions, at any rate. I wouldn't mind resolving Lumgol's slot at some point, but I see little reason to do that right now, given that she is one of the more active players. If they're evil, giving her more time will give us more to look at. If she's good, giving her more time increases the chances of her contributing something that proves her alignment. @Rathmaskal, you haven't posted yet this cycle. I'm currently harboring some mild suspicion of Levitaph, though that's fueled in large part by a lack of familiarity with their playstyle. The thing that bothers me a bit was them repeatedly bringing up people using one playstyle or another as a smoke screen for being an elim while tunneling pretty hard on Lumgol. Tunneling would actually make for a pretty decent smokescreen in and of itself, as it creates the illusion of activity and involvement with finding elims while reducing the amount of info you give away about yourself.

Interesting that they decided to kill Elandera. From what I've heard about the last game, recruiting her would have made more sense. Maybe that move was just a bit too obvious though. Anyway, let's start with a couple of pokes on people. @Dr. Dapper, I do hope to hear a bit more of your thoughts this cycle, as you're clearly following along, but haven't really contributed anything yet. @Ark1002, @xinoehp512, the game has begun, it's time to join in . Anyway, there isn't much I can say right now that hasn't already been said, so let's see if I can tease out some information instead. @Levitaph, is there anyone else you've got a village or elim lean on? @Lumgol, would you consider yourself a better or worse candidate for conversion after the way the votes developed yesterday? (mentions break here, unfortunately) Cadcom, you mentioned that you believe Sart being innocent for now, despite pointing out that the vote manipulation could have occured for evil!sart as well if sja'anat had the right kind of spren already as enlightened buddy. Can you elaborate on that a bit more? Fifth, you remarked on the speed with which the lumgol bandwagon dissolved. Now that you know coops alignment, does the vote-swing have any effect on your read on Lumgol?

Just saying, Sart removing the vote only proves they are not sja'anat, but there's no guarantee sja'anat started alone. Anyway, the way the votes moved last cycle was really quite interesting, but unfortunately it'll take at least a couple of other people dying for information to be gotten out of it.

Huh, it's odd seeing a bandwagon start up so early in D1. I can see the argument against Lumgol, with the post asking about whether to focus on Sja'anat in particular feeling off (seems like they where trying to somehow cover for sja'anat?). However, at that time no one else had really done enough to warrant player analysis. Her vote on Fifth also feels wrong, as it's a self-preservation vote in the first half of the cycle. I'd expect a villager to try and find an actual target, rather than throwing a vote on a random wagon. Fifth's response feels a bit over the top, though I know I would feel a bit frustrated about the voting happening if I was in his shoes, irrespective of my alignment. His reasoning is definitely solid, but Lumgol was by far the easiest target (as in most suspicious, by D1 standards at least) to push a lynch through, so I'd say it is pretty NAI. I agree that Rathmaskal often comes across as hedging, and I'm fairly certain I've tried to lynch him for that more than once while he was village. Coop's vote feels very off to me. First of all, his vote comes late enough in the lumgol wagon that by D1 standards it could very easily lock the wagon in. Then, there's this lasts sentence: This seems just way too much on the nose in regards to trying to affirm village-ness. The apologetic tone also makes it seem to me like they don't really believe in that lynch, which is odd if they where a villager thinking they where voting on an elim. Right now, Coop and Lum are my main suspicions, but I'll be going with Coop for now. Levitaph, this might be a meta-difference between this forum and the forum you're used to, but most of the active players tend to be pretty open with their suspicions and suggestions, under the reasoning that it's better to die early having contributed, than survive to the end while not really adding anything to finding the elims (or worse, dying early while not having shared any of our suspicions). If I hadn't been very busy yesterday, I'd probably also have made a post that'd be in the same "super helpful" category (I usually start off with some analysis on the available roles).
