Could Galactus eat Shards? Or can he not eat things on the cognitive plane?
-
Yata pretty well covered questions 3 and 4. Here are the WoB he was probably referring to, spoilered to save space; And then a Secret History spoiler for Questions 1 and 2, just in case.

Yeah. Just read the first couple pages of the 'People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley' thread, and you will get the idea.

Not sure how canon this is, but I was pretty sure Vibroblades could also block lightsabers, due to the fact that the sonic wave they produced knocked the lightsaber back, instead of destroying the actual material. I also remember some Vibroblades having a cortosis 'weave', though. So it might still just be cortosis. Also, lightsabers were powerd by 'force crystals' at some point, and the force would be pretty powerful investiture in-cosmere. However, what with all the retconns, I am not sure how viable this is. On the subject of Cap's sheild, it's cognitive identity might just decide it is unbreakable. Or it might absorb the cognitive vibrations(?) of a shardblade, rendering it inert. edit; from what wookiepedia says, it was just the cortosis in the vibroblades that blocked lightsabers.

Fixed that. Unrestricted access to HTML in a website is not just unwise, it is scary.

It has been a while since I have read WoK or WoR, but isn't there a scene where Hoid/Wit is telling a story to Kaladin, and uses the same analogy?
-
A little off-topic, but on the same note, there really should not be any lizards OR crabs on Roshar, right? So isn't it kind of pointless to use two un-described things to describe something else?

-grumbles-but I like being competitive.-grumbles- I do understand the rationale behind it, however, and it is not something that I really need to worry about. (Anyway, for the people who really feel the need to be competitive, they can still check profiles.

Just wear some coded Shardplate. Tell! Tell! Tell!

Sort of. When things have not been read by my account, usually they are bolded. (Or the used to be.) Some that I have not yet read are still not bolded. I assume this is also because of what you said. (They reset with the update.)

I agree with all of this.

Are there new Rep ranks? Also, the site no longer appears to show total rep next to any of the profiles, in-thread. Is that intentional? Also, the unread topic headings are a bit buggy for me, I think. There are ones I have not read showing up as read, and such. And the lighter text is a little harder to read. At least for me. I like that the site makes sounds when new things have been posted. My ears are far more attentive than my eyes.

I like the new background. (Shadesmar?) And it looks very clean and modern. Very bright. I almost had to turn down my screen brightness. Personally, I prefer darker tones to lighter tones, but that is purely a matter of preference. The site looks really nice. Are you going to move the Question and Answer thread to the new Q&A sub-topic?

Epigraphs - Predictions/Interpretations
Magestar replied to Lewis Nethur's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is actually a really good interpretation. It might even be right. Personally, I thought it would actually refer to two men. Minor WoR spoilers. edit; Ninja'd. Hwat Hwiles said (See what I did there?) basically covers how I feel about your theory. -
He is now. At least, I can see him. Personally I like Szeth. But he is definitely not on the poll. Yet.

Obviously, you should construct huge aluminum helmets for the wolfhounds.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Magestar replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted. You get Frozones powers, and they work exceptionally well. Your bane is that whenever you try to fight crime, you can never find your supersuit. I wish to be able to switch accents as well as Wayne does. -
I agree. WoR is by far my fav, at least so far. I shall have to wait and see if another one takes it's place. Not really. As far as I have seen, (and I am relatively new myself,) they are fairly lax here. It's a very nice community, and most everyone is friendly. Thanks. Very helpful.

Welcome to the 17th Shard! Have a welcome Cookie. What is your favorite Sanderson Book? edit; Ninja'd

Mitosis is a short story, and it comes before Firefight, if I remember correctly.

I want to see a Coinshot or Lurcher shoving cars everywhere. Or possibly a Duralumin/Steel combo blowing up planes, or a Nicroburst fueled lurcher pulling them out of the sky. Also, a Lurcher flying along behind a plane, just pulling on it as it moves to keep themselves behind it. And wouldn't A;Pewter agility make up for some of the huge muscle mass of F;Pewter? And if you are tall enough, F;Pewter would only have to increase muscle mass to give you the aesthetics of the Hulk. I think it is possible to reach near-Hulk size with this combo.

Personally I think that one version of Iron Man has to be pegged down. Or we could just mash them all together. But there are just so many odd versions of Tony/Iron Man that we cannot just say 'Iron Man' I remember a version with parts of the suit grafted to his bones(?) which would mean Vin cannot push on them all that well. So Yeah. Pick one. About who would win. As far as vin goes, her powers are a little more versatile than Iron Mans. Of course, if we say he can scan her to find out her powers/weaknesses, he might win. Personally, I would put my money on Vin, unless Iron Man somehow finds a way to get her metals away. (Supermagnet? Magnets are not effected by whether or not a metal is in someones body, unlike coinshots. Or forcing her to puke them up.)

Reckoners is definitely a good one to read, as far as Brandon's books go. For books not by Brandon, I always recommend Terry Pratchett, but you have to prepared for a lot of satire. On everything. Ever. He writes really well, does good books, and Brandon Recommends them. 21 INTERVIEW: Nov 10th, 2010 Utopiales Convention, Nantes, France: Interview with Brandon Sanderson (Verbatim) QUESTION Which are your last top choice readings? By the way, do you still have the time to read? BRANDON SANDERSON I do have the time to read occasionally. I think it's important to read. I think it's extremely important for me to read in the fantasy genre, and be aware of what other authors are doing, because there are lot of them who are way better than I am and I want to be able to learn from them. My top choice to go to these days is Terry Pratchett; I love his work. TAGS brandon on reading, 22 INTERVIEW: Dec 23rd, 2010 The Fringe Magazine, Author Interview: Brandon Sanderson (Verbatim) SCOTT WILSON What are you reading at the moment and who are your favorite authors? BRANDON SANDERSON At the moment sitting on my shelf next to be read is The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett. 38 INTERVIEW: Jun 3rd, 2011 Brandon Sanderson Talks Fantasy & Film (Verbatim) HELEN O'HARA Who are your favorite writers? BRANDON SANDERSON My favorite living writer right now is probably Terry Pratchett. There is no one who can balance humor and plot and character like he does, particularly in his books about Vimes. So, yeah, there's that. I would recommend starting with 'Gaurds Gaurds!', personally, and the first three books in the wizards series are not great. Other than that, they are all at least decent. Most of them are great. A personal Favorite of mine is the Belgariad, by David Eddings. It is really well written, has good plot, has some decent romance, a pretty fun magic system, (Not a complex one. Definitely 'soft' on Brandon's scale.) and well developed Characters. His other series are not quite as good, but everything set in that universe is really good. (Mallorean, backstory short stories, etc.) Always happy to recommend good books. edit; Still not sure how to quote things from the quotes databank, so sorry if this looks weird.

I also liked watching Brett Dalton. On a side note, after watching him play Hive, I just kept imagining him as the voice for 'God' or Ruin in Zane's head. 'Kill Him' in the same quiet voice he used for Hive? Perfect. Same. Such a great scene. I never really like Lincoln as a character, but I still ended up feeling for him at the end of this scene. I feel like the new Director could be Tony Stark. Not Iron Man, just Tony. This is Pre my watching of Civil War, so my opinion might change after that.
