  1. I am thoroughly enjoying reading the Darkfriend doc. I see suspicions that Lopen would die early. Also, this is the game that convinced me to try SE, so thanks for that guys.
  2. Heal Marsh, Hurt Amaram. 1. Hrathen- 72. The Lord Ruler- 144. Marsh- 55. Ruin- 67. Miles- 89. Bleeder- 910. Denth- 1112. Odium- 614. Amaram- 315. Taravingian- 1018. Szeth- 719. Mraize- 620. Tyn- 8
  3. I'm not so sure. Investiture is the energy/building block of the cosmere. I feel like investiture is equal to power, to some extent, otherwise things start to break down. We can bandy terms here, but I still think it takes more power/investiture/magic/whatever to split someones soul from there body, but leave the body intact. If it comes down to a practical use of power, well, there things get interesting. You can't steelpush a rock without a ton of investiture behind you, but a simple Basic Lashing will send it flying. It is a matter of practical use. Shardblades have more power; If you took a shardblades investiture, and the Investiture of the BoM, to use my original example, and put them both behind a steelpush, then the Shardblade push would be more powerful. However, the Shardblades immense power is tied up in cutting someone's soul from there body, and as cool as that is, it is not as practical as just ripping them apart. It would be like building a giant machine to clip toenails, that runs on gasoline, as opposed to just cutting them yourself. Sure the machine is cool, but if you can just cut them, why waste gasoline? Exactly what I said earlier. This is what gets me. The first sentance sounds great, and I refer to my toenail clipper. As for the second, I start to get confused. I think the answer must lie in the fact that Nightblood uses investiture more effectively, or actually has more than we think.
  4. In my copy, he comments on how it was way easier than it should have been, I think. I will have to check that, but if Brandon put in the book that it was easier, he likely has an explanation for it.
  5. I'm not going to go into legality here; I don't know enough about the topic. I'm going to raise more of a common sense, morality issue. Knowing Shallans father, as the person he was, would he have gone on to kill more people? I think he would. I think that Shallan, by killing her father, prevented deaths long-term. Probably. We really can't know, but that is my opinion. I am not condoning murder here. Best case scenario; Shallans Dad would get brought in and have some serious therapy. But considering the scenario, I think Shallan prevented deaths, doing good. She could have done better. She could have knocked the guy out and called the authorities. But she didn't. There is a lot to say on this topic. I think the matter goes further than I care to talk about, and I have to stop at some point, or I could ramble on and on and not give ANY clear answer.
  6. I understand that, technically, it is super-powered, and extremely powerful. I just cannot understand for the life of me why. I mean, 1000 breaths worth of investiture seems like a small ammount. I think it has something to do with the investiture it steals from the host. Or possibly that Breaths are just a number, and that Nightblood actually has more investiture than I think. I really have trouble explaining that. Without understanding/explaining it's power source, here is my opinion on it's power level, as far as what it can do. I still think that on a usefulness scale, the BoM is more powerful. Just as a comparison. I understand that it takes a heck of a lot of power to make something cut on all the realms. And sure, it's cool to separate someones body from there soul. That's fine. But if you can just rip someones body apart with one steelpush, and thus have virtual telekinesis, or move so fast no one can so much as touch you, or be so lucky that Nightblood could never hit you anyway, does it really matter if Nightblood can separate your soul from your body? That is my basic idea about Nightblood as far as power goes. In a power match, I would rather have the BoM. Don't get me wrong, I love Nightblood. Nightblood is awesome. It's one of my favorite characters. Most of my favorite scenes have Nightblood in them. It is, in my mind, one of the coolest things ever. But as far as practically usable power goes... Eh. At least until I know more about it.
  7. Steel Pushes, not pulls. That would be very very cool, but sadly, it was not to be.
  8. So far, the MCU has tried to keep things as sciency as possible. Even if it means making up scientific gobbledegook so that Thor can still be sciency. So, I think it will be interesting to see how they deal with Doctor Strange. Personally, I think that they will do a lot of 'power summoned from other dimensions' and 'ancient being whose power we need not explain... gives Doc his powers' or possibly 'He has strength of mind and soul and thus... stuff'. I also see the Eye of Agamotto being a Infinity Stone. Just because they like keeping things tied together. If so, they may just toss all the magic stuff out the window and say 'Infinity Stone MacGuffin, made up science, now go.' As for Scarlet Witch, I thought she, in the comics anyway, was, to use a Cosmere analogy, a mega Soul-Stamp. She messed with Reality on a probability scale, the more probable her changes, the easier they are to accomplish. So on and so forth. In the MCU, it seems more like she has advanced scale telekinesis, as well as some cool color effects to go with it. (I love superpowers that just make things look cooler. Altering Reality to have cooler looking stuff that is scientifically impossible. The Blob could manipulate Gravity in the comics, simply because a Ground Slam would not work in RL physics. )
  9. Heal Marsh, Hurt Bloody Tan. 1. Hrathen- 83. The Lord Ruler- 84. Marsh- 55. Ruin- 66. Trell- 57. Miles- 58. Bloody Tan- 49. Bleeder- 610. Denth -1012. Odium- 714. Amaram- 7*15. Taravangian- 617. Suit -318. Szeth- 919. Mraize- 520. Tyn- 6
  10. Yeah... There is really nothing I can say without breaking some pesky zoning laws. I personally think you can't take any dishonesty/comment on your honesty too personally in SE, simply because the game is literally based off of confusion and lies. That's about all I can say- at all -with MR15 still going. Not to say I don't sympathize. I agree with what you said, and that it's frustrating. That said, I do hope you decide to rejoin LG24. It looks promising.
  11. Oooooooooo. Multiverse. I look forward to this. Does this also mean another group of cosmere-like interconnected books?
  12. You know you're a sanderfan when you start judging people by whether or not they are a 'reckoners is cosmere' type of person. This actually happened to me, albeit in the middle of a conversation about conspiracy theories.
  13. Just for the record, I see Hrathen as a hero, and Szeth is just plain cool, but I guess he is a villain... Marsh is not a villain for most of the books. But whatever. Ditto. 1. Hrathen- 72. Dilaf- 33. The Lord Ruler- 64. Marsh- 55. Ruin- 56. Trell- 57. Miles- 58. Bloody Tan- 59. Bleeder- 510. Denth- 611. Tonk Fah- 312. Odium- 513. Sadeas- 314. Amaram- 515. Taravangian- 516. Straff- 517. Suit- 518. Szeth- 619. Mraize- 520. Tyn- 6
  14. Just a note... In BoM, we DO see a guy with a spike in only one eye. But he can also see through the other eye. I have always thought that that would be really cool, and have a whole host of advantages. The best of both worlds, if you will. I think it would look sort of like when a computer overlays a camera with a targeting system. The only problem I could think of is that your head would be a bit lopsided.
  15. This thread will just die now, right? It probably won't be closed. So, it just dies.
  16. I find it fitting that I shall strike the final blow. Don't ask me why, (There is really not a good reason.) But I do. Heal Kaladin, Hurt Marsh. 1. Kaladin 125 HP 2. Marsh 0 HP And Death Retreats to his realm.
  17. Hurt Kal, Heal Marsh. 1. Kaladin 108 HP 2. Marsh 17 HP
  18. You know what. Death might beat Kalashard. Hurt KalaShard, Heal Death. 1. Kaladin 110 HP 20. Marsh 15 HP
  19. He also has some non-cosmere books... The Reckoners Books (Steelheart, Firefight, Calamity,) are good, and The Rithmatist is very well done for a young-adult book. But I personally recommend starting with Mistborn Trilogy One. The mistborn books altogether make up most of his works, and the first trilogy is a good starting point, IMO. Then, if you are interested in the cosmere, go Warbreaker, the Stormlight Archive books, then Elantris, then the Wax and Wayne Mistborn books. If you really do not care about the cosmere, then I still say read mistborn first, and then after that you just have to make the decisions. The short stories are mostly just Cosmere stuff, and they are not really pertinent if you do not care for them. And I have not read those enough times to suggest a reading order for them.
  20. Yeah, like I said, there are some holes. But the thing is, when you burn a metal, you do not 'leak' anything. Same for holding breaths. The only example we have of leaking is Mistpoint, and Holding too much stormlight. With these you are literally leaking investiture, so you are 'losing' some. I always assumed that the black smoke was also leaked investiture. I know that it is corrupted, but I still think that when you use investiture for something, it disappears into what you used it for. When you 'leak' investiture, you are not doing anything with it, and are losing it, not using it. So that would imply, to me, that the investiture Nightblood leaks is unused, therefore he must draw more than strictly necessary to do the things he does.
  21. I'm just going to drop one last vote here to help Marsh. Hurt S. Heal M. 1. Kaladin 89 HP5. Shallan 15 HP20. Marsh 21 HP
  22. Yeah I fixed it Zizoz. It is dinnertime where I live, so I am going to leave, and hope Marsh Makes it to two. I like Kaladin more than Marsh, so I will be happy to see him win, anyway. Cya guys. It will all probably be over by the time I'm back.
