  1. Maybe the efficiency for overtapping increases? IIRC, if you start tapping a lot of a specific attribute, some of it gets wasted, and efficiency decreases. Maybe high feruchemical power help lower this?
  2. How about a combination of Aon Eto and Aon Shao for shape shifting amulets with a set of predefined shapes? Aon Ire: "time" If actually able of changing the flow of time, time stop areas to serve as storage spaces to prevent food from spoiling. Aon Kaa: "plants" Fertilizer.

  6. We already discussed this one on page 2, although the discussion mostly changed to a discussion on the plausibility of using the gravitation surge to do it.

    Hi!

  9. Maybe use the alloy from AoL? They specifically made that alloy to be usable for both bullets and guns, and it's still allomantically inert, so it would work just as well as normal aluminum.
  10. The method @Archer talked about was basically a workaround to be able to stock up on energy without having people see him, by charging in a place people don't notice and then teleporting to the city and immediately exploding.
  11. I believe that it's said in the books that it's harder for him to teleport when he's charged.
  12. First of all, IIRC terminal velocity is also based on the thickness of the atmosphere, so as you get farther away from the planet the terminal velocity should increase, lowering the time for getting to low orbit. Once outside of the atmosphere, earth's escape velocity (going with earth data as Scandrial should be an earth analog) is about 11 km/s. Assuming the a basic lashing would use Roshar's gravity as a guideline, which is about 6.867 meter per second squared (Roshar's gravity is about 0.7 Scandrial's gravity), you would need to have the lashing active for about half an hour (11000/6.867=1644 s = 27 m). From what I can find with online calculators the orbital velocity of an object at low earth orbit is around 7.5 km/s, which would mean that from low earth orbit to escape velocity would require a basic lashing for about 8.5 minutes (3500/6.867=509s=8.5m). If we take your calculations, not accounting of atmospheric density lessening as you get higher, this would mean that you need to keep a basic lashing active for about 3 hours and 8.5 minutes. While this does seem a lot, I personally have the impression that this would be realistically achievable, if you use the stormlight from one or two full gemhearts and put all that into a single basic lashing.
  13. Depending on the exact mechanics for Investure based healing I would go for Gold/Gold. My reasoning behind this is that your mental self image is important for healing, so if you change your self image through mental gymnastics you could do limited shapeshifting (as you might guess, I would prefer being a Kandra). I think that the shift itself would probably be a bit slow, and limited in how much you could change, but it would probably still allow you to shift to different human forms. Of course, actually triggering the shift would require some more hoops. I personally think that if you can do the mental gymnastics to think of your current appearance as an injury you would change, but otherwise it would probably require cutting away the parts that need to change. If all that isn't possible I would go for a steel and f zinc, because I like flying around town, and the thinking faster just seems useful in general.
  14. If the Investure from the gold healing doesn't interfere too much with Lashings, couldn't you just Lash the compounder into orbit? Sure, it won't kill them for a long time, but they probably won't have a way to get back to earth if you get the orbit right (like around the sun). This would mean that they would be out of the way until either their storage runs out, boredom and constant suffering compels them to stop healing, or they die of old age.

    Hi

    Welcome, have a cookie.
  16. I personally really like it, and it was also what got me into web comics. I also highly advice people to read the what ifs, as they contain a lot of interesting science things, while keeping the humor of the standard xkcd. Also, I don't have a real preference for specific comics, but if I have to decide, I would choose anything with Black Hat in it.
  17. Granted. As your bane you are transported to a reality containing a single hydrogen atom. You now know everything about this reality. I wish that I had an army of sentient foxes.
  18. So does anybody have experience spiking Channelers? I'm wondering if the spike would just contain all their specific quirks with the One Power, or if you can spike out strengths with an individual element specifically, or their talents. It could be interesting to spike out talents and see if you can grant them without making the receiver a Channeler. Certain occurrences, like Dreamers, Sniffers and Wolfbrothers seem to indicate that you can.
  19. I'm probably somewhere between 3th and 4th, I don't have much posts, but I've been around for about a year.
  20. If you could calculate the friction a Shardblade undergoes from cutting through the rock, you could probably hook one up to an orbital cannon, use a living blade, give it a good, stable streamlined form, and use some kind of orbital launch system (and maybe gravity), to shoot it right into the core. But a bit more serious (but not by much), I think that the Sel wouldn't really be a living being, but more like an oversized spren, a bit like Nightblood. So we would have to find out how well Shardblades work on cognitive entities. If they do work, we'll also have to get data on the amount of Investure contained in the landscape, to be sure our Shardblade can actually cut through it.

    Roshar's Sun

Actually, it's just highschool physics and self study.
  23. Perhaps through AonDor? I'm not sure about the power requirements, but he could theoretically have used Aon Tia to go to a different world with a shardpool, or used an Aon that allows travel between realms to travel to the cognitive, but also to the edge of the Dor storm.
  24. I have the feeling that if that was the case, Khriss would be allowed access to Taldain, and not be cut off with the rest of the Cosmere.
  25. The issue with this is that they would probably have used it to heal Eshonai when she was wounded if they had these, as she was their Shardbearer and general. As they didn't do it, it seems that they either don't have them, they can only make plants grow and not heal, or they work to slow to be of any help.
