I have not idea what to expect from Adolin, with Sadeas murder and the end of the world upon them. Renarin may end up supporting his brother, but in different ways than before.

Right, but the point is that Brandon is not going to make some clarification about Realmatics in the context of a mostly Cosmere unaware people. If Khriss said it, that would be much more interesting. But in the context of Roshar, it's not that interesting beyond understanding what Roshar thinks about the Cosmere.

Again, context. It's an oversimplification by a mostly Cosmere unware people.

If you read that quote in context, Brandon is saying that "spren" is the Roshar term for Investiture that is alive. He is not saying that "spren" is a Realmatics term. He's also smart sometimes. The curse could be the fluctuation, or that how empathetic he is inversely related to how smart he is, or more likely both.

theory Theory: Somebody (Hoid?) bonded Adonalsium
Argel replied to Farnsworth's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Context matters. Brandon is saying that "spren" is ROshar-ese for Investiture that is alive. He is not saying it is Cosmere/Realmatics terminology. If it it was, we would have read about "spren" in at least some the Ars Arcanum in books published before TWoK. It's a Roshar term, not a Realmatics one. -
Wow, a question from 2014.... el_warko, on 24 Feb 2014 - 12:55 AM, said: Actually, we have some recent WoBs on the subject. IIRC, seons are splinters (or their aon (sp?) is). And "spren' is Roshar for something sentient invested, so they could be considered spren in that context. And then there are comparisons to the Stormfather, Nightwatcher, etc. Also, the three realms are all part of the Cosmere, so honor did not create Shadesmar. Note also that Roshar predates the shattering of Adonalsium. I appreciate your desire to help, but you should do some reading to catch up on the meta-knowledge out there.

I was just pointing out that there could still be hope for the general idea behind the theory. Not commenting on how likely or unlikely it is.

Allomancers would be fine on Roshar. It's not like their metals are hard to transport over extended periods of time, unlike Stormlight. Also, I do not think we have any reason to believe metals natural to Rosahr would not work. The Listeners are more interesting, but the ability to change forms seems more like a racial feature, so changing forms may work. Or at least, they may be able to maintain the form they are in when they travel to Scadrial. Maybe e.g. storm form would not work (or not work as well), but e.g. why wouldn't warrior form work?? Scadrial has the stronger gravity, so that works in their favor, on Scadrial or Roshar. But this has been covered multiple times in this thread already, so no neeed to rehash it again.

No, could the original Hoid's master be Adonalsium?

Lightweavers are the most powerful Radiant(WoR Spoilers)
Argel replied to KnightGradient's topic in Stormlight Archive
You must be reading a different SA than I am, because other than possibly her father, she kills defending herself or others. There are also not enough deaths to count as a "nasty habit". You should consider reading Shallan's scenes. -
So who takes over for Sadeas? Wouldn't there need to be a new Highprince? And where does that leave Ialai? Plus there's the whole destruction of the world thing going on. She may decide it's not in her best interests to seek revenge. Or she may have a succession "war" to contend with. Her battle could even be to remain relevant, similar to Navani's circumstances after Gavilar's assassination. Edit: Regarding Adolin, not sure what to expect there. Maybe the best to hope for is a companion book.

Maybe she volunteered?

Gavilar was going to bring their god back, and told them, thinking they would want that. Regarding "Rider of the Storm" From http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/23702-brandon-tweaking-words-of-radiance/#entry235913 Not sure if WeiryWriter has a WoB to back that up though. But the changes are interesting, and do suggest they are different names for the same being.

Szeth and Screaming-Spren-Swords (spoiler-y ness)
Argel replied to KnightRadiant's topic in Stormlight Archive
What about the screams that KRs hear when wielding a dead-spren shardblade? Could the screams Szeth hears be related in some way (maybe not directly, but e.g. a similar process).- 46 replies

Maybe shardblades offer some form of protection to the bearer that honorblades do not? It could be a byproduct of the spren (living or dead).- 46 replies

I thought the Rider of the Storm was the Parshendi name for the Stormfather? I thought WoR was updated to reflect that (i.e. make sure the Parshendi always used "Rider of the Storm" in their chapters).

If cell degeneration still occurs, then at some point his cells won't be up for keeping him alive. One problem with transplants is that the spirit would know it's not its organ (just like that the body it alive after it should have died). In real life we have to use drugs, etc. to prevent the body from rejecting the transplanted organ.

Well, we have WoB that indicate TLR and Miles would eventually die. So, it's either just a finite lifespan, or the magic they use does not halt the degenration of successive cell generations, which would eventually result in cells incapable of using/processing enough energy to continue living, which would then lead to organ failure due to lack of energy. That would imply actual immortality halts the degeneration of the cells (which in turn implies it is possible to die of old age). The reason no one is listed as dying from old age is because the immediate cause of death is listed. So if e.g. it's due to kidney failure, that will be listed, even if the aging is process is what lead to the kidney failure. That and aging is describing a process. We don't say someone has died from death either.... Edit: That is, death is the result of dying, but we would wouldn't list "dying" as the cause of death.

A lot of undead in fantasy settings such as ghosts are stuck here until some goal they put great importance in is complete. I always assumed cognitive shadows worked the same way. If so, when Kelsier is realyl ready to to the Beyond, he should be able to. We don't really have much to go on though, so who knows how the Cosmere works. I'm just drawing parallels to some common tropes.

We have Frost's letter to Hoid, which suggests Adonalsium had an active plan, which in turn suggests Aonalsium was able to act. Frost and Hoid also apparently know something about the plan, which raises the question of how they learned about it (e.g. scrying, first-hand, etc.).
-
Brandon also referred to Adonalsium as a "he", so add that to what we know. The plan you mention could be (and likely is) referring to his imminent shattering and how to deal with it. In which case, Frost is discouraging Hoid so that he doesn't accidentally ruin Adonalsium's post-shattering plan.
-
It's not canon, but I think general stuff from it is, such as Hoid taking the name of his master. Speaking of that, we know a lot less about Hoid's master, so could the ideas above apply to the original Hoid?
