I know, just joking lol. And yeah there’s a number of places in southern Ontario that have piles of mid-sized and large cities to bounce around, as well as parts of Quebec and BC.
-
I love how Canada qualifies as a big group of people with a strange belief system. I’m now permanently referring to Canadians by that.
-
Personally, I feel like Europe would end up more like the wastelands, with a territory war, while Canada would end up more city-based. Both sound intriguing!

On another note, the poll for Location is up! EDIT: I think I have anothee epic I want to use all thought up. Name: Lukas McKnight Epic Name: Knox, as in Fort Knox Primary Ability: Basically building in fortnite. He can create matter with absurd structural integrity in any shape comprised of a single plane, I.e a ramp/ wall. No prof-esque bubble traps, and nothing smaller than 25 square feet, give or take. Used mostly for cool bases and cover in combat, as well as trapping the odd civilian before tossing in a grenade. Secondary Ability: Enhanced everything. Just all around superhuman—more speed, more strength, more agility, tougher, more endurance, faster reflexes, etc. Nothing more than say an Olympic athlete, but still plenty impressive. tertiary ability: Phasing. Knox can phase through his own walls when he wants. Background: growing up, Lukas spent most of his time with a few friends doing dares, playing sports, getting in fights, and generally trying to push the limits of what he could do. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces at age 19 at the urging of his father to try to instill a little self-preservation, but instead Lukas became even more of a risk taker, often being given the worst duties as punishment for all the things he did. After becoming an epic, he began challenging others to duels in an attempt to prove himself or die trying. This has led him to (insert Canadian/European city here) to try to finally find his match. Allied with Silhouette due to some handwavium.

Feel free to vote, and if you select other please don’t hesitate to make a suggestion.

Nice work-now get him/her to that alley where we spike newbies EDIT: If it’s alright with everyone I’ll put up a poll for Canada Vs EU Vs other locations
-
Canadian-Belgian citizen here, so both is cool with me too. But if we do Europe turf wars, dibs on Flanders.
-
Should we run it pre-calamity or post? The possibilities of post are interesting. We could have both darkness-affected and non affected epics.
-
Just a question: for the new rp, do we want any sort of plot? Or just the standard character-based stuff.
-
I’m sure we could do just about anything in a new city, including old characters, with a bit of handwavium and fairy dust. The only issue would be trying to use EVERY old character. Edit: Europe sounds amazing. We could move from city to city, messing with Big Ben one day and the Eiffel Tower the next.
-
I like the idea of using a Canadian city, but they could be too unfamiliar for most people. Toronto’s the big one, and it’s already part of canon.
-
Now I’m just picturing a heat resistant epic encased in lava emerging as it turns back into tofu.

Sounds like a fun dinner date

CANUCKS UNITE Edit: All this talk of a reboot has got me thinking of epics... May I present: Silhouette! primary ability: Illusions. Silhouette can create shadowy images that appear to have substance. They are easily identified due to silhouette only being able to make grey illusions, but at night they are often hard to see. Silhouette can use these as though they were real, physical manifestations of his will. Secondary ability: Shadowmelding. Silhouette can briefly turn into shadow, and though he can move in this state, he cannot control his actions. Instead, he must picture where his shadow will go and it’s actuons before entering the form, where those instructions cannot be changed until completed. Background: Silhouette, AKA Jack Hallen, was a law student who enjoyed boxing all through high school, and kept at it through university. His father ran a small auto shop, and lost an enormous lawsuit to the richest man in town over the hallens right to their land. They were kicked off the property, and all of the family members began to work shifts to put the smartest of them, jack, through school. He was a fairly standard student, above average in sports and school, but nothing about him really raised eyebrows except his determination. He went to law school to try to make the world a better place, to fight against those who took advantage of the hardworking men and women of the world like his father. After becoming an epic, his values became warped, and he began going after people not for their deeds, but simply because they had money. He would shadowmeld his way into their homes, then beat them to death with his fists. He takes a perverse pleasure in killing those with money, and will sometimes elevate those in poverty to high status before killing them for it. Hopefully we can get a few new epics going for one last run at Reckoners RP!

Anyone want to launch up a new thread for some brainstorming? Or just do it here.

I was just looking at my bookshelf, saw the reckoners, and decided to check back in for the first time in a year or so...and I hear about a renaissance! I was never very active but would love to give it another go if we’re maki this a thing.

Tbh I kinda hate Moash. He does nothing but whine, his character is a little weak. Graves is much more interesting-I get the feeling that everything he's said so far is true, at least in his mind. And the fact that he just happens to be a sharbearer makes him even more intriguing.

Today i decided to make the substance powering the magic of my world explosive...best decision ever. I sort of reverse engineered possible reasons for it acting that way and it added a whole new level of depth to te system and connected two previously completely seperate magic systems in the world that i've been scrambling to find a connection between.

The PowerKeepers: An Unfair Competition
Bladestorm replied to Steeldancer's topic in Creator's Corner
Water doesn't actually reduce the effects of gravity... It just makes you more buoyant. An increase in gravity without an increase in the buoyancy of water means that you would be crushed, but if Jonathan can change certain aspects of water then it works Also water can't be condensed whatsoever, without an increase or decrease in heat. So for pressure just remember that it always has to take up the same amount of space. Other than that it's great! I did some worldbuilding about a year ago about an island focused on 11? elemental magics and they had similar contests to this, and i love the idea. Great job! -
Hey everyone! Bladestorm here, back after my(particularly long) hiatus! I dropped by the shard the other day and figured I should get back into it, so here I am! Anything in particular I need to know?

The thread is made for us to critique eachother and help with problems involving our fictional worlds, so its fine. Also, I'm just considering a humanoid with both fur and feathers. Would it be possible? I know some rare animals(ie platypus) are almost combinations of animal groups, but I'm not sure if this is reasonable. Of course, I could just attribute it all to magic:P

For the cost, I think I'll end up limiting it by having them fill up on energy at the same rate as regular people, but their runes cost in the thousands rather than the regular peoples teens. If they exceed their limits, they age and can die, and finally each rune can only be used a certain number of times before no sorcerer will ever be able to draw one and get an effect again. On the topic of names, I get what your saying. There are enough options for just the characters in your story, but it's probably not realistic for the whole world. My only question is how common are these magicky-people-whose-name-i-forget? If there's only a few to a class, you might be able to make it work.

I might use that with the limited number of times it can be used idea, but it would be that using such massive amounts of energy ages you without actually taking your life ever. This would lead to most sorcerers being rich, cranky old men and women who spend almost as much time napping as being magical.

I've considered that, but i would like some items(translators, small phone-like crystals) to be mass produceable. What do you think of each rune being limited in its usages and this being directly based on its power? That way there might only be five god-killing items, but thousands of enchanted spoons that dont get dirty. A lot of Brandons epics have compound names too, rather than just adding prefixes or suffixes to related words. And if you do that then the possibilities do become almost endless:D For instance, you can have gravity man, Gravityblast, Gravityswitch, Gravitymaker, Or just gravity. Changing the word gravity to grav gives you some other, cool-sounding names too.
