The child would probably be genetically human. It’s the SDNA that’s weird. You wouldn’t be able to tell anything from a DNA test... but the law suits could be interesting. “I’m not the father! It was a Kandra using my DNA!”

Could pewter burning heal spiritual damage?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Housedunn's topic in Mistborn
Aluminum might be able to though... it depends on how well it actually purifies. I REALLY want to see an aluminum savant. -
The point was that ‘in world’ Vindication makes no sense if named for Vin unless the language has changed. Which is very possible. But if it has changed, Kell’s name is the one most likely to be mispronounced, which I think he would find irritating.
-
True, but they were also no longer human. Koloss blood’s can, clearly. So the issue may be ‘no longer human enough.’ We also don’t know that they can’t; we haven’t seen enough of them. ‘Do not use’ isn’t the same as ‘cannot use’.
-
If it has changed to be less French sounding Kell is probably going to be rather put out at all the people mispronouncing his name. It’s HARD!

Vindication confuses me, as in world Vin’s name is pronounced ‘Vah’. Has the language changed to be less French sounding?

Did Sazed cause the downfall of allomantic prowess?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to GrumpyGuru's topic in Mistborn
The weakening of Feruchemy is a natural result of mixing with Allomantic DNA. The odds of a natural Mistborn (not from residual Lerasium influence) is tiny. I suspect the length of time it takes for Letasium’s residual influence to wear off is the same length of time it take for the Well to refill: 1024 years, if I’m remembering right. -
This may be out there, but it seems that burning Aluminum transfers the Investiture Sink nature to the Allomancer, as it allows/causes the removal of outside (but not innate) Investiture.

Did Sazed cause the downfall of allomantic prowess?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to GrumpyGuru's topic in Mistborn
The South did have mistings though. But never more than a handful, which probably explains why they were revered. Though they seem to have more now, and Ferrings too, which really makes me wonder if Kell remarried and raised a family there... -
My Hemalurgy question: if a person’s heart stops and, during the period where s/he could be revived, one person did CPR while another spiked the person, would it work? Or how dead do you have to be before Hemalurgy no longer works? Also: can you steal human intelligence from someone who is brain dead? And how does brain death work in the Cosmere anyway...

Did Sazed cause the downfall of allomantic prowess?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to GrumpyGuru's topic in Mistborn
This was a natural process. The people of North Scadrial are essentially back to baseline, though Allomancy is still more prevalent than prior to Rashek’s Asension. Baseline seems to be much, much, much weaker than Lerasium Allomancy with next to no natural Mistborn. So this had nothing to with Sazed. -
Depends on whether or not you believe the soul is above the three realms, part of the three, or even exists beyond a religious concept. The spirit web sticks around after the Cognitive self has passed Beyond, so I wouldn’t consider it the soul. But someone else might. A lot comes down to ‘what is the soul?’ and there are more answers to that than I can count. We’ll have to see what happens to Survivorism once the North learns the truth of the Sovreign. We could get anything from a fusion of Northern and Southern faiths to a religious war. Most likely (considering Survivorism is an AU of Catholicism) we’ll see a schism in the Church and end up with a lot of variations. Either way, as someone who loves history, I’m eagerly awaiting this!
-
Which is where a lot comes down to religion. Some RL groups don’t allow postmortem donations. Others do. The more modern society gets, and the further from the Catascande, the more likely it is that opinions and beliefs will change. I don’t think Kell’s survival necessarily plays a role in this debate. To give an example: In Jewish theology Abraham was born a eunuch. Just because a miracle happened and he became fertile later doesn’t mean the rabbis allowed other Eunuchs to wed. The exact mechanism of Kell’s survival isn’t known or important to most people. I doubt it will make any difference in an individual’s decision, or in the laws that are formed around Hemalurgy. (Though id expect someone inworld to bring up the argument.) I don’t think the Sliverists would have an issue with spikes or spiking. Survivorists probably would And Pathians would discourage it. Ultimately we’ll have to wait and see. And no one really knows what, if anything, is Beyond. Kell thought there was nothing. Others disagreed.
-
Kell is widely held to be a special case. Most people don’t talk to Harmony either. (Wax is a special case.) And some people would argue that those deserving of the death penalty deserve such a fate. And being spiked does not seem to prevent people from going Beyond. The Spirit web remains long after the person has left the three realms.
-
The idea is that these are people who are dying/going to die anyway. And we know it damages the spirit web; it may or may not damage the soul. And what about people who don’t even believe in immortal souls?

What was the name of the religion the lord ruler started
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Zape's topic in Mistborn
Teris. They lost their religion. I don’t know if they saw a point while it was the only one. -
Then it’s way more useful, since it will probably drain any nearby spheres too.
-
Nope. The Divine Breath is what keeps them alive.
-
Possibly, but not as a decoration on a hat! I think it’s more that the artists don’t get to read the books before doing the covers, so they have to make educated guesses.
-
Kell is wearing a Mistcloak on the cover of SH, but he doesn’t wear one in the story. Wax has goggles on that cover, but never uses anything like that. The artists do their thing and Brandon does his.
-
That’s where personal belief comes in. Think Nalthis and Breath.
-
Hence why I want to see the Sovereign vs. TLR. Because A:they’re actually matched and B: it’s a grudge match. Besides, Kell would totally want a rematch.

Trellium Allomantic Effect Speculation Thread
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Quickbronze's topic in Mistborn
I suspect Lessie was using a mix of her own personal connection to Wax, + Wax having his earring in, in addition to her own madness/spike granting a stronger link to the cognitive realm, to communicate. Which works with what little we have seen of such communication. -
So... a Nicrosil compounder could theoretically have an unlimited supply of breath? That clearly needs to be followed up on. Because a certain someone would totally abuse that.

It’s more humane than some RL methods of legal killing, especially if the donor is under anesthesia. It could also be a viable method for executions; at least it would be quick, unlike ‘lethal’ injections which can leave criminals in pain for hours. Since some organ donations are actually done while the donor is in a vegetative state, which has its own set of thorny moral issues, it’s arguably less invasive too. So I’d be fine with this as long as there is a LOT of regulation, because the potential for misuse is high. I suspect people would be more likely to request spiking so their family could inherit the ability instead of donating to science. Bloodmakers/Thugs would have the bonus option of donating to the sick. I wonder if in future Scadrial spiking a donor/receiver is done under anesthetic? It would certainly make it easier... I suspect the Southerners may know some bind points. It may also be non-lethal; give the donor a gold medallion, spike him while he’s healing and he’ll regrow the damaged spiritweb. The only issue is that this would be expensive, but I could easily see the wealthy doing this. The actual opinions would vary widely, of course. I think the Survivorists would be against it, except maybe for executing criminals and individual cases of non-lethal inheritance. Pathians would probably disapprove but allow it. Sliverists would be the most likely to approve. Not certain about the South or non-religious/other religious groups. Probably extensive variation, just like in real life.
