[Dawnshard] Questions for Brandon
Kingsdaughter613 replied to NameIess's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Whimsy was not the Shard Hoid wanted. -
Compared to Shards, sure. Compared to ordinary humans, not so much. Depending on how the Cosmere conflicts develop, Kell could end up very dangerous indeed.

double posting is frowned upon. I was responding to the comment about the metallic arts. We don’t actually know what he wants on Roshar. But it doesn’t bode well for the rest of the Cosmere.

[Dawnshard] Questions for Brandon
Kingsdaughter613 replied to NameIess's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Great! Thanks so much for explaining it to me! I’ve never tried to ask a question for the live-streams before as I’ve never had a question I was curious enough about before. So thank you so much for being patient and helping me figure it out. -
And the Cosmere-aware entity who can create Fullborn medallions is known to be rather ambitious, cannot keep himself from meddling, has always had a taste for power, delights in one-upping the most powerful people he can reach, and enjoys bloodshed far too much for anyone’s piece of mind. And probably knows WAY too much about Hemalurgy AND is seemingly Fullborn. Oh and the majority of the planet is nominally loyal to him. Kelsier is bad news for anyone who isn’t Scadrial.

I’ll try his Facebook page. Do you know where I can find the link to it? -
[Dawnshard] Questions for Brandon
Kingsdaughter613 replied to NameIess's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think he wanted Thaidakar to be Kelsier, and he definitely left himself the room to do it. It was more that Thaidakar couldn’t be until Brandon knew he was going to be able to reveal Kell’s existence in MB prior to the SA reveal. Kelsier is a Mistborn character first, after all. Where can I find these sites? -
I think you could really tell that Moshe wasn’t the one editing the book this time.
-
To be fair, if it wasn’t for Moash Teft would have. In fact, he did, but Phendorana was already gone... But he did swear it first.

Just noticed: this thread now has sixteen pages exactly. Probably won’t stay that way, but it’s fun while it lasts! And then, ironically, this post made it seventeen. Which fits this forum well!

theory Possibility of Human Fused
Kingsdaughter613 replied to LuckyJim's topic in Cosmere Discussion
True, but as close to being admitted to as this was, I’d say ‘highly probable.’ It’s a bit stronger than ‘widely believed.’ As an aside, it amuses me how many times our Mistborn conman has managed to show up in these threads. He’d be very pleased. “Hey, look! I got mentioned a handful of times across the books, but I get brought up more often than characters with several hundred times the page count!” -
Kell’s scars are usually the giveaway though. And he left those Copperminds behind. I think there may end up being a splintering in his Church, resulting in multiple denominations. Some may conflate the Sovereign with Ironeyes, but I think Kelsier left enough evidence behind that most will end up accepting that the Sovereign and Survivor are one and the same. For one, I’d be surprised if the South didn’t know his name.

I’ll do you one better: hemalurgy is basically the bloodier version of Bondsmith powers. And it can be used by anyone, anywhere, who knows how.

theory Possibility of Human Fused

You mean ‘there is absolutely no other character who we know that it could possibly be,” right? Because seriously, it’s not like the clues given can be said to point to ANYONE else. -
Kaladin's Mental Health Depiction Appreciation
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Stormrunner1730's topic in Stormlight Archive
Interesting. A lot of people say this, but I don’t relate to Kaladin, the depiction of his depression, or the way he handles it at all. And instead of Kaladin’s POVs helping me, they actually make me worse to the point that it isn’t safe for me to read his POVs when I’m depressed. In my experience depression does just ‘go away.’ I have PMDD, which means my depression lasts for a week to ten days every month. Then I get my period and I’m fine. Since it only lasts ten days max, there really isn’t anything that can be done except grin and bear it. It’s too short for medication, and therapy needs more than a week to accomplish anything. The way I’ve dealt with it is to force my brain to go somewhere else. I draw, write poetry, read books - but not SA, because Kaladin makes me suicidal. (I kind of hate him for that. He’s basically ruined the series for me because I cannot read his POVs, and then people get mad when I say that which makes it worse. I’m so glad he helps you, but he makes me want to kill myself so...) Mistborn, because Kelsier reminds me to smile. I didn’t learn CBT was a thing until college, but I’ve been doing it since I first got my period. I just didn’t know what it was called. I grew up surrounded by Holocaust survivors. They went through hell, lost everything, and came out unbent, unbowed, unbroken. If they can smile, then so can I. If they could move past their grief and keep moving forward, then I certainly can. I WON’T be defeated. I WILL NOT be broken. I WILL embrace my pain and let it be my strength. I don’t have time to sit in a room once a month waiting for someone to save me from myself. Strength comes from within, not without. The only one who can save me is me. So I push forward. I force the darkness and the pain away, force myself to see the good, to find the joy I know is there. And I smile. To me, the way Kaladin acts is a dangerous temptation. I WANT to do that. I want to be able to wallow in the pain. To not fight to find REAL reasons to smile. To have a Spren or an Adolin or a Dalinar to come save me. To just wait things out. But if I did that, I’d be dead. So I save myself instead, because I’m the only one who can. I just wish Kaladin would too, so I could read his POV more than once every three years. It occurs to me that since I do not view PMDD as a part of me, but as an enemy to be defeated, it could actually be cured by Stormlight. Interesting. It will go away forever eventually, when I hit menopause and no longer get my period. Or possibly after my next pregnancy, as that can alter the hormones that cause it.- 37 replies

Thaidakar disappointment
Kingsdaughter613 replied to SwordNimiForPresident's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Per one WoB, Kelsier could actually act as the Spren and bond someone else, lol. I think Kell would make a decent Willshaper. It’s the Order he fits best. But I think the Cryptics would be more interested in him. He’s a conman, and that would fascinate them. -

Well, I don’t have one of those either, lol! I do like mint! Especially in lemonade. And peppermint with chocolate! TPBM likes coffee. -

And I never heard it called a Chanukia until I worked in a Modern Orthodox Yeshiva. I still don’t get why it was changed; I’ve read the Talmud on the hilchos Chanukah and they use Menorah. It didn’t need a special name for 2000 odd years; why does it need one now? I agree about dragons, as long as we’re talking about nice ones like Toothless. TPBM has children. -

How do we ask questions? -
Thanks!

Very nice! Personally, I’m half-hoping we get that described Interlude the other way: from THAIDAKAR’s perspective as one of his GBs comes to report to him on Scadrial. We’ve had Vasher’s, so we can have an offworlder interlude starring a major character without it spoiling another series. (Though seeing as Thaidakar’s identity is a major spoiler...) We almost certainly will get that novella though. “Mistborn Secret History 2: Ghostblood” could work as a title...

Why is there a dash? Heard of them, but don’t subscribe to redressed ancient pagan customs. TPBM lights a menorah. -

Lirin is pledged to the Hippocratic oath, which he interprets as forbidding violence. He’s currently running a one man war against all violence, which is not workable. I think a Spren would help him figure out a more feasible Crusade.

Every Skybreaker needs to pledge themselves to a code. Although they probably did the other thing too, it wasn’t a prerequisite.
