  1. Granted. You write exactly like Brandon Sanderson so that he sues you for copying his stories. I wish to be a steelrunner.

  3. Funny you should mention this, since someone corrected my pronunciation at the Bands of Mourning midnight release... I say her name "muh-RAW-see." Also, I think we should totally expand this thread to include pronunciations of other names. For example, MeLaan. I say her name in my head as "may-lawn" (equal emphasis on each syllable, with the first one halfway between a monophthong and a diphthong), but I'm curious how the rest of the fandom says it. Same for Sazed. Where do you guys put the emphasis? "SAW-zedd"? Or "suh-ZEDD"?
  4. Quirky ancient zealots wave stupidly xenophobic elephants down crunchy rivers flowing viciously through great big yurts holding new untested jugglers milking inbred kine on low pedestals. STORMLIGHT
  5. Everybody loves
  6. Aw, man, that would've been awesome. He shouldn't have said anything if he was just going to refuse to show you guys.
  7. You get a reality-hopping vehicle. *inserts Parshendi*
  8. For having badchull Rey as your profile pic.
  9. "Jar of Hearts" by Christina Perri.
  10. Finished Bands of Mourning last night. Storming LOVED IT. Today I plowed through 80% of Crucible of Gold by Naomi Novik, which I had put on hold to read BoM. I liked it and especially its ending better than some of the previous books in this series. Now I'm in the middle of Three Slices, a collection of 3 novellas that I bought mainly because one of them is from the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne.
  11. Just one more reason why I am going to buy all the new re-releases even though I already own the old editions.
  12. If I understand correctly what you are proposing, I think this would work. Since the person who filled the aluminummind would have had no identity while they were filling it, the metalmind would remain unkeyed and contain that person's identity. So I think another Feruchemist should be able to tap the identity stored in the unkeyed metalmind in order to access other attributes stored by that same person in a different metalmind. Of course, the above scenario would necessitate both people having more than one Feruchemical ability in order for it to actually be useful. My question is, would the Feruchemist borrowing the stored identity need to be storing their own identity while drawing upon the borrowed one? Would the identities clash if they didn't?
  13. Repulsive, but easily remedied. (For mayflies, insecticide. For BO, a shower.) College is like a highstorm.
  14. The 16th works for me too!
  15. I second HonorSpren's recommendation of the Reckoners series. They're simultaneously hilarious, exciting, and emotional. and since the final book in the trilogy was just released, you won't have to wait for the series to finish; you can just devour them all as fast as you want!
  16. You might enjoy the Kaladin vs Wax and Wayne debate thread, then.
  17. Upvote for your excellent topic title. Welcome to the Shard! We're all mad here. If you really want some pointers for the forum, here are a few: As a general rule, double posting is frowned upon. If you have something else to say and nobody has posted since your last post in a thread, use the "Edit" button to edit your post instead. Spoilers out in the open are also frowned upon. It is polite to put them in spoiler tags and label which book/series they are spoilers for. How to do spoiler tags: [*spoiler]This text will be hidden by the spoiler tag.[*/spoiler] Type the text above without the * in the brackets and it will look like this: Everybody's pretty friendly and awesome here, so I think you'll have a good time.
  18. I mean the sort of noise you would get if you slapped someone with a fish or removed a lollipop from your mouth while sucking on it hard with your mouth. Or the noise of a really loud, wet, sloppy kiss, I suppose.
  19. As someone who finds wordplay amusing, I find this wordplay amusing!
  20. I'm going to have to politely disagree. Yeah, there's a love triangle, but I'd definitely say the relationships in TMI have considerably more depth than Twilight. In the later books (4-6), Clary and Jace's relationship really grows and matures--the "overprotective boyfriend won't let the girl do anything for herself" nonsense that was all over in Twilight shows up a little bit in the earlier books when Clary is still a noob at Shadowhuntering, but she and Jace get over it with time. Simon also becomes really awesome. (He's my favorite character and one of the few people I will use the word "adorkable" for.)
  21. Granted. They are actual live goldfish in a cardboard box, but they soon suffocate without water, leaving you with a horrible burden of guilt. I wish for a bag of Dove dark chocolates.
