  1. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. We also have the Coppermind to help explain and recall the details, if you need it. Please remember that Generative AI is stealing copyright material - and that is not a good thing. Brandon has a great article about AI and Art (written or otherwise). Hope that helps
  2. High enough on the spine that you have "killed" (deadened due to the severing of their spiritual component) those organs essential to living - heart, lungs, diaphram, digestive tract, etc.
  3. Hobber was most likely cut through the thighs. Had he been severed at the lumbar or sacral spine, he would no longer have had control over his hips, and he was described repeatedly as being able to sit up on his own on a stool.
  4. Did you read the harddcover for WoR? That''s not the canon "death" for Szeth at the end of WoR. WoB: So, the likely answer is that Regrowth can but passive Stormlight can only heal before the body has died (where dead is the point that the Cognitive Shadow begins forming in Shadesmar) - which is why Szeth has an after image in Edgedancer and beyond, Nale was nearly too late and his Cognitive self did not fully re-attach to his body. Here's the canon scene from WoR Ch 86: Hope that helps.
  5. Yes, that Era 2 is Wax and Wayne - which takes place (WaT Spoilers). You can tell because it mentions all four Eras for Mistborn. It is only old WoBs mentioning three Eras that do not account for Wax and Wayne; which was not in the original outline, then had AoL as a stand-alone single story to bridge Era 1 to then-Era 2, and eventually became Era 2 and "Information Age - 80s Spy Thriller" officially became Era 3.
  6. We do not yet have much about the Skaze - but here are the Coppermind page and the collected WoBs on them. Stormlight Archive and Elantris Spoilers:
  7. The current in-world chronology of published books (to the best of our knowledge) is: Brandon has said he intends to release a more detailed chonology before Stormligth 6. E. g. How many years between the events of Elantris and Mistborn (Secret History spoilers - especially sicne the Ire appear to be suffering the Reod when Kelsier sees them) Hope that helps
  8. A Stormstrider - Kaladin and Shallan also saw one in the Shattered Plains (WoR Ch 74): Hope that helps
  9. My apologies. By sharing what I did, I was only hoping to help those that might not have terminology to discuss their thoughts find some objective measure by which they could compare. I do not think science and atheism go hand-in-hand - but I did find the origins of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (Pastafarianism) intriguing: I, personally, identify as Agnostic; which was why I skipped that part of the post (as I was only trying to add helpful references). Hope that helps
  10. For anybody who may be curious - Atheism definitions: (I, personally, find the nuance in the definitions interesting, becuase so many lump us all into one bucket, as if Faith is allowed to have many paths and beliefs, but the absence of faith is just one lump group - and I reject that hypothesis) Because it is tangentially related - Agnosticism: I once had to describe in an exam, in Korean, to a teacher what the difference was between Atheism and Agnosticism because Korean does not differentiate between the two (the only word they have literally translates as "not-god belief person"). Hope that helps
  11. Yep - they are all unpaid volunteers with full time jobs. The task is neither quick nor easy. Sorry
  12. I have a favorites folder of just Cosmere (Forum, Coppermind, Arcanum and Brandon's site) posts I reference often. Search works well (Please see Sharder FAQ if you need tips) - but why search the same thing month after month?
  13. No Dark Mode yet. Please see: Site needs Dark Mode Dark Mode? Site Upgrade - Browser-made Dark Mode Errors Hope that helps
  14. @Returned - This may help if you decide to try a version of White Sand
  15. Personally, I always thought Boons/Curses were more like a very advanced (Selish Spoilers)
  16. This is the Mistborn forum, please make certain all non Mistborn series references are spoiler tagged. If you need help editing a post, please see the Sharder FAQ. Perception does play a vital role, as does intent. Which is why I said based on current information (paraphrased). I'm not saying your idea is impossible, I am saying we do not have any data yet that supports the idea. Keep in mind that, as an MoI, Allomancy is very low-invested (WoB Below). We see that Flaring can widen the conduit and puch more investitrue into the allomancer and we saw that Duralumin's effect can max-out that conduit; we have not seen any examples (yet) of more-than-one source of burning metals. We have seen that Miles could not burn both Gold and F-Gold at the same time (he could tap healing while burning Gold for an Oracle vision, but not burn F-charged gold for compounding at the same time). We also know that Chomium Allomancy will hist one metal source at a time (non-invested first). So, Brandon could take this either way / a mini-Duralumin technique or just one-source at a time. WoB: Hope that helps
  17. You are correct in that we do not have full information on this yet... however, based on the information we do have, this is unlikely. When an allomancer like Vin burns a metal, the investiture does not spread from their gut. The metals "'brun"' to establish the conduit there (and why they used the term burn in the first place) but the Kinetic Investiture is saturating their whole body (e. g. burning pewter vin does not have to wait for it to reach her arms and legs from her core; she simply burns pewter and her whole body is suffused). So, mot likely, there is one conduit to the SR. Burning a metal is the key to open that conduit (one piercing or many) and flaring increases the aperature allowing more/faster flow. I think, if it worked as you thought that it would have been discovered long ago, because "sensing reserves" would have felt very differnt should an allomancer have been able to open 5+ "conduits" simultaneously. WoBs: Hope that helps
  18. In the second, are you trying to spell "people" as Peepul? First seems more correct...If you look at Navani's Notebook (Fourth Bridge page example below) you can see that they are not trying to phonetically re-spell English for the official artwork. If you want more detailed analysis notes, you can read the old thread where we deciphered the script (semi-inclusive as I worked on glyphs mostly). Hope that helps
  19. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. Depends on how you are defining it but (Hero of Ages and Rhythm of War Spoilers):
  20. This part is in-text. When one of the Heralds broke, the Heralds all returned immediately (because they form bodies made of investiture shaped by self-perception); but the Fused tdo not return immediately - the voidspren begin to return and Singers begin to gain forms of power, but the Regals and Voidspren need to find willing bodies to house the Fused; so, historically, it was a few years between the Heralds' return and the Fused's return.
  21. If the Invision base on which this is built has such a timing option, they have not yet found it.
  22. As @Xiahida mentioned - Mistborn Era 1 was linguistically based on France and Germany. Culturally though, it's not really either - and most Cosmere works are not analogous of any single culture or time. Alethi are a mash-up of Mongol/Hebrew with other middle-eastern influences across Roshar. Komashi is a hybrid of Korea, Japan and Chinese - but with western artistic influence. Sel has different inspirational sources for every country/culture. If the topic interests you ,consider checking out the Annotations on Brandons website (in the Books section, you can find an annotations link for Elantris, Warbreaker and Mistborn Era 1 - [**]) where Brandon notes for each chapter some background info, data that was cut or could not fit, why he made the decisions that he made, etc. - they were written while reviewing each book's final copy edit. **Note: The links no longer take you to the first entry - they broke when the website was redesigned. Now they go to an index of chapters, but if you pick any of them and scroll to the bottom, the link to the first annotation for each book will be on top there.
  23. We do not know. We expect to learn these answers in Era 3. Some believe that an Aluminum spike needs to be hemalurgically charged, other's do not. Some believe the "removes all powers" is because the Donor is losing abilities to the spike (if they survive) but the hemalurgist cannot gain those powers because of the properties of Aluminum.. Either way, hiting a very exact bind point with an aluminum spike bullet is probably beyond anybody without Shardic intervention. Wax didn't need to hit a Bind point in SoS, just get a second spike anywhere into Bleeder - because Sazed was involved. Hope that helps
  24. Many very interesting theories and deductions. Good job. Just a point of context, in case you are interested. Excerpt from Sanderson's Altered Perceptions essay about The Way of Kings Prime (2002) regarding Kaladin: Thanks again for your insights.
  25. This, unfortunately (Mistborn Spoilers) Yes, yes it is. Happy to have you back - hope you enjoy!
