It's not for everyone, and there is a reason it was originally unpublished. For people that have problems separating non-canon detail from Canon detail, the Prime books are probably good to avoid. But for those that like "could-have-beens" or want to see the origin of some of their favorite things, it is interesting enough. WoBs:

It's no longer Canon, but the Sanderson Curiosity Dragonsteel Prime has Frost/Hoid interactions. WaT Spoilers:
-
Another possibility: 3. Frost was present at the shattering, but trying to prevent it. He was unsuccessful (and/or too late).

Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. I do not even consider it a "love triangle"' - there are other considerations in play.. The resolution was worth it to me. Not a spoiler, just a reminder from last book - WoR Ch 71 Hope that helps..

Yes. It is related to how a Radiant heals as well. By accepting a spren into their gemheart, they form a Nahel bond with the Spren - this changes/alters their Spiritual Identity (and sometimes other SR traits) and the infusion of Investiture from doing this in a Highstorm is what allows their body to "heal" itself to match their new SR identity (like Lopen healing his missing arm because Lopen's SR Identity never accepted that he was disadvantaged). WoBs: Hope that helps

That is confirmed - WoB: Hope that helps

I think it is likely that Autonomy already tipped Jaddeth's hand 10 years before Elantris. WoB: So, everything since the Reod is just playing out the dominoes from that one event.
-
Thank you for the Intro Post Not impossible, but not likely since the Skaze are Splinters of Dominion (Just as Seons are Splinters of Devotion); so, they are specificaly the pieces of Devotion and Dominion that are not part of the Dor because the splinters remained in the Physical Realm (with connection in the Spiritual Realm, which is how they communicate long-distance) while the Dor is, specifically, the portions of Devotion and Dominon that was put into the Cognitive Realm so that it was cut-off from the Spiritual Realm so it would prevent the Shards from gaining new vessels. Entirely possible that, if Elantris-era Jaddeth is an Avatar of Autonomy, then that Avatar may be influencing the Skaze (or just Fjorden) - but the Dor is not likely to be the mechanism of that influence because they were specifically separated by Odium. In a normal Shard-world, the Investiture Cycle means that Investiture that has been used returns to the Spiritual Realm and the body of the Shard from whence it came. To prevent that, Odium made it so that the Investiture Cycle of the Dor returns to the Cognitive Realm and the main portion of the Dor there (otherwise, enough use of the Dor would eventually reform Devotion and Dominion in the SR) - it is like Mistborn Era 1 when Preservation hid part of Ruin's power by trapping it in the investiture cycle at the Pits of Hathsin to prevent it from returning to Ruin in the SR (the main reason Ati needed to find the Atium to recover Ruin's lost power). Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. Patji was already Autonomy Investiture; or, at leasr, mostly Autonomy. It can be a bit confusing, but all investiture in the Cosmere was assigned to at least one Shard during the Shattering. That investiture does not only occur on the world/system where the Shard eventually settled. So First of the Sun had Investiture aligned to Autonomy without Bavadin ever actually ''visiting" the system - but once Bavadin became aware of that part of Autonomy there, she could influence it because it is not a Splinter - separated from her main power. WoBs: Current understanding of Autonomy's motiviation is to "out-religion" the other Shards. Bavadin planted seeds of religion in multiple worlds; not with a specific plan for each, but so that she would have a foothold should she choose to exercise that foothold. That was how she gre Trell from the pre-Rashek old religion into the version of Trell seen in Mistborn Era 2. Likewise, it is implied she planted the seed of Jaddeth long ago so that she may be able to leverage that in Sel's future (from the end of Elantris). References: Hope that helps

I'm still curious as to why you think an AI art forum is a good idea, but I can understand if you do not want to discuss (it's OT for this thread), but we could start a new one if you do want to discuss. Not trying to change your opinions, just hoping to understand.

Why, if I may ask. Sanderson at Nexus: Each person has to decide for themselves - but if an author ask you to not use their IP as food for AI, then that is their choice and one we should respect.

Are you perhaps thinking of Oathbringer Ch 106?

I do not think that Nergaoul accessed the vision at all, their influence is generally passive (rioting an emotion for all that feel that emotion in an area). While Nergaoul can affect a specific individual directly, that is not common. Also, Nergaoul's effect takes place in the Cognitive realm, not the spiritual realm, so Nergaoul only needs to be close enough to the physical location of Dalinar's body (Warcamps) to affect his Cognitive state while he happens to experience a Spiritual Realm vision. WoBs: Hope that helps.

Not just Era 2, Kelsier does this in the first book - TFE Ch 34: Wax does this throughout Era 2 - every time he pushes a bullet. If he was pushing from his center-mass the bullet would never fly true, he has to be pushing from his weapon hand - directly behind the bullet.

Midnight Aether in the Way of Kings?
Treamayne replied to MraizeofRoshar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Are you including the Aether homeworld? Dhatri Generally, It would depend on if the specific Aether is a form of Realmatic Constant - e. .g Sunlight Spores are likely, Verdant spores are tangential (see Words of Radiance), Zephyr spores are unlikey. For much of this, it is information not-yet-answered so it can be reserved for future books. -

Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. Not quite the same - Midnight Essence is one of those realmatic constants that can occur from multiple magic systems - Midnight Spores are only one way to create/manifest midnight essence. Just picked up the new Dresden Short Story - Mister Petty - Paranormal Payback anthology PoV is Goodman Grey - - - Finished Mr. Petty and 12 Months. Finished Parade of Horribles Considering Powder Mage or Leviathan Wakes next.

I feel like spoilers out-of-context are spoilers. It is a mean and hurtful thing to do to somebody unless they specifically ask for spoilers.

Would a Shardplate Helm hide the wearer's mind?
Treamayne replied to Colors's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Likely yes, assuming you mean wearing the whole plate with helm, not wearing a helm without the rest of the Plate. WoB: -
I think the other thing to keep in mind Is that Hallandren is not working with a cast of colors as deep as the Pantone Color Pallette - they have the colors available in Nature and medieval dyes and the derivitives. Agree that Hex is probably the least-compatible color system (along with CMYK). The main reason I never went far on a project like this (despite tinkering off and on for a decade) was because I didn't feel like I had enough information to convert the alphabet we do know into a phoentics system to assign colors and steps. What I can say from experience is that hearing the difference between letters (for a language student) can, depending on the language, also be very difficult and time-consuming. In Korean, it took over six months to hear the difference between 애 and 에. (Omniglot - Hangul) (IPA). For any given set of sounds we would then likely have (where applicable) a color shade for voiced/unvoiced, stressed/unstressed, aspirated/glottal stop, etc. Another Korean Example (both, because that was what I studied, and what Brandon studied that influenced his writing) we have ㄱ,ㄲ, and ㅋ where: ㄱis the normal g/k sound, unaspirated ㄲ is the g/k sound, stressed with a glottal stop ㅋis the g/k sound aspirated The whole alphabet was constructed by Great King Sejong's (세종대왕) scholars to be based on how the mouth makes the associated consonant sound(s) with vowels as vertical or horizontal system to go around and bridge the consonant sounds (and make dipthongs intuitive - see previous linked image). Hope that helps But we do have this WoI:
-
Right, but that assumes that the letters we have translated are the full alphabet. I think of it more like IPA - sure, English has 26 "letters" but phonemes to accurately represent the various sounds those letters make. . . Well, you've already jumped to, at least, 64 phonemes (not including dipthongs and consonant clusters). If the base consonant/vowel is <color> and we know that Vivenna describes the colors of Lightsongs Palace as "shades of red" (see below), then similar derived phonemes would be steps of that base color (up or down). To me, Artisan's script is less an "alphabet" and more of visual depiction of how the language sounds Warbreaker Ch 14: After all, how many people can pick out Zomp from Chartruese from Mindaro on sight. . .
-
Interesting thought experiment, but I feel like it missed the basic premise of Artisan Script - that every letter has its own color. Converting a four word phrase to only three colors doesn't seem to work, because you have to know the "translation" for the colors to be read. I envision something like this (using your example phrase): Where the simple ovals here could be any shape the artisan wanted to use. Just food for thought. YMMV. Hope that helps
