We're talking Ebeneezer Scrooge Victorian era style. (As an explanation I have 3 young children. I think about sleep a lot.)

    I don't think this is the 17th Shard's intent really. The letter back to Hoid from the leader or organizer of the 17th Shard seems to imply this is not the case. I doubt that becoming omnipotent in this way is in keeping with the idea of non-intervention.

    Edit: Dealt with off topic stuff in PM. On topic, it's always possible as the Kandra are the ancient remains of Sazed's people and he felt he owed it to them to make sure they weren't being taken advantage of. Or yeah VenDell is a big fat phony.

    Yup. LIstening to mostly Bowie right now. Weirdly enough, right about the time last night he passed away I started singing Let's Dance to my daughter and dancing around the living room with her. Then I found out this morning he was gone. RIP Jareth.

    I am indeed. Been playing drums for about 25 years and Bass for about 6. I've been singing since I was born.

    Wasn't the nature of Hemalurgy directly related to Ruin's intent in the FE books? Taking something and breaking it down into smaller and smaller peices? When someone is spiked some of the original power is lost. This doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't around before Ruin as Ruin was an aspect of the unshattered Adonalsium, but maybe it was in some different form or scaled back or something.

    Out of curiosity, is there a thread that goes more in depth into this suspicion? I'd be interested to see some of the speculations and in text proofs.
