  1. Could it be that at some points Nergaoul is consciously targeting powerful and influential people as a way of corrupting them and further influencing the outcome of events in their favor, which seems to be sowing hatred? The Thrill to me has always seemed like a spiritual drug for lack of a better term. Some people are more susceptible to addiction than others and when it's taken away you get withdrawals.
  2. Two mistborn walk into a bar. One says "Ouch", the other was burning pewter so it doesn't really phase him.
  3. But is he really talking to her? Or is he prompting an inner monologue and nudging her with feelings to do or not do things?
  4. Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman's Death Gate Cycle. One of my all time favorites.
  5. Novelette 1 maybe Rlain?
  6. Wait, what???
  7. Yes but since this is Dalinar's book I'm wondering what the connection is there. Perhaps the naming of the sword was because of how Dalinar would secure oaths for Gavilar after reading and misinterpreting said book, but later in life realizes the true meaning of the words...or some such nonsense.
  8. Why did Kelsier feel inadequate? Because he could never measure up to the Lord Ruler. I'll just show myself out now.
  9. You didn't loose pages. You gained a valuable collectors' item.
  10. Mistborn Trilogy: 3 Stormlight 1 and 2: 2 Warbreaker: 2 Elantris:2 Alloy of Law: 2 Shadows of Self: 2 Shadows for Silence: 1 Sixth of Dusk: 1 Emperor's Soul: 1 Perfect State: 1 Steelheart: 1 Firefight: 1 White Sands:1
  11. Zomg I completely forgot his shardblade was named Oathbringer. There must be some deeper meaning than just the sword though, so yeah getting the name from a book or text would make sense.
  12. Speaking of music: When someone asks me how I play drums, keeping track of what every limb is doing. Seriously HOW DO YOU DO THAT??? Training, practice and innate ability I guess? I just do. That's like me asking someone how they build a house after they build a house.
  13. So I just read Brandon's Reddit post about his outline and progress for Oathbringer and came away from it with a realization. You'll remember the earlier working title was "Stones Unhallowed". In his post on Reddit, Brandon talks about his decision to focus the flashback chapters in the third book on Dalinar instead of Szeth. To me it seems this fits the titles to the book. Stones Unhallowed possibly referring to whatever it is in Szeth's story that deals with the stone shamans and not walking on stone and Oathbringer possibly referring to Dalinar's new status as a Bondsmith and that order's presumed role in facilitating Oaths. Not really a theory or anything but I do think it gives away the focus of the book and I can't help but wonder what we're going to be getting when we do focus on Szeth's flashbacks. Anything else you guys think we can glean from the change in name of the book?
  14. Off topic, but plothole is a great insult. "Way to go plothole." On topic: I'm thinking this is the best explanation.
  15. Tricksy little shardseses. What has it got in it's pocketses?
  16. Your evidence would also more soundly support a theory that Vin was being more directly influenced by Preservation than anyone else ever was and that Preservation was stepping in as her instinct. I think it may be a bit of a jump to conclude it's some random mistborn noble, but that's just me.
  17. *Hoid disguised as a random Southern Continent dweller walks behind Marasi after she finds the spike and "accidentally"knocks her over, causing her to stab herself just in the right spot for some crazy power transfer* "Oh I'm sorry I didn't see you there. How clumsy of me."
  18. This thread actually makes me wonder if there's going to be some "Protect others from myself" thing coming from Kal in one of the next books. Nothing specific, just a vague feeling of impending doom...
  19. Today is Love, Fear and the Time Machine by Riverside.
  20. I have the potential to become an evil dictator. That doesn't mean it will happen. I would rather this not happen.
  21. That's never really seemed plausible to me. I mean if you think about it, that leaves only two possibilities: 1: Vo had a family before he returned and this family is the line that the Royals come from. The one problem with this is then you have to explain why the royal line has qualities in common with the Returned. How would that work if Vo had his kid(s) before he himself returned? 2. Vo conceived a child or children during the week he was alive after he returned. Possible, yes. Likely? Debatable. Something about the story told to us so far doesn't add up...
  22. I understand this, but I don't know how healthy it is...
  23. I feel it my duty to point out: These are numbers with imaginary value on the internet. Is it all really such a big deal?
