  1. I always hear Obiwan in the back of my mind when I read Hoid. What he's saying is true...from a certain point of view. Most "Evil" people are the hero of their own story.
  2. Anyone else get the feeling that the listeners were at one point in history the Dawnsingers? The name alone is a good match and if they were at one time able to bond honor spren...
  3. Mighta been some guy selling cookies, not sure.
  4. And as much as I want to know, I appreciate your restraint.
  5. Some random guy walked up to me on the street and stuck me with this long needle. I think. Maybe I'm remembering that wrong and it never happened. Anyway, soon after I started hearing the voice of my dead cat Gizmo telling me that I should really read this book called Mistborn. So I did. The rest is history.
  6. The "word" irregardless... Not really a word. smh Also appropriate for this time of year, when people say "Happy New Years!" Unless I'm in some sort of weird time loop I don't think multiple years are overlapping and occurring during the same 365 day period.
  7. So judging by the content of the letters, it sounds like maybe Frost and Hoid were both a part of the initial shattering, not just Hoid. I would say it was either just the two of them or all of the original 16 shard holders as well. More than likely all of them as Rayse apparently wanted to become what he is now. So maybe some sort of grand experiment or power grab that now Hoid feels remorse for and a responsibility to put back the way it was? Just rambling, don't mind me.
  8. So Taln is a Kandra who no longer knows he's a Kandra and is convinced he's Taln. That would be cool.
  9. Maybe it's like a mini version of the Shard without a human mind to guide it. Things get weird with Splinters when they're separated from a guiding consciousness. Maybe even more so after they start forming their own...
  10. I wonder if Galladon has to deal with some kind of Dor withdrawal? Now I'm getting an idea for a Dor patch.
  11. How frumious.
  12. Look for people with beards. They can't be trusted.
  13. Might want to do SoS if you're planning on getting BoM right after release. If not, go with Warbreaker.
  14. From the way the book lays it out Dalinar didn't begin his sting operation until after Kaladin asked him why Amaram didn't go to help Adolin in the duel if he was so honorable. I think at that point Dalinar started wondering if there was some truth to what Kaladin was saying.
  15. I assume you mean Dalinar?
  16. This is a good point. So if you were to store 100% of your identity, how much of your "self" would that include? Memories? Instincts? Allomantic power? If you did store all of your identity and lost your metalminds, would you be stuck as a blank slate vegetable?
  17. At least one of Shallan's remaining brothers. Also Teft and/or Amaram.
  18. One thing of note is how reluctant the Stormfather is to allow Dalinar to bond him. Not sure if this is how it always worked or something that is a result of the recreance.
  19. First for me was Mistborn, favorite is Stormlight Archive mainly because it is the focus of all the cosmere stuff right now. Although the Wax and Wayne books are getting close to that level as well and I'm starting to like them more and more. I guess I just like big picture stuff.
  20. This.
  21. So has anyone been able to pick out any discernible differences between pre-Reod Elantris and after Raoden restored it? I know there's not much in the way of description, but there may be some clue there.
  22. Yeah storing 100% of your weight would make you literally weightless and you would not be bound by gravity at all. I would think this would have been utilized waaaaay more often if it were possible as it would be a very valuable resource to have at your disposal. Neither Sazed nor Wax have become truly weightless at any point and it would have benefited them both at multiple points throughout their stories.
  23. Indeed I have. Just playing along with the idea that Nightblood really doesn't get it. I've read all of Brandon's (released) Cosmere novels and novellas, Perfect State, and his WoT works. Just got through another read through of SLA.
