I see your point, and I do like the "antagonistic-Elhokar" route. I think it is really interesting. I just wanted to point out that a "good-Elhokar" story would not, in my opinion, be a bad move. Making him evil isn't the only way to make him interesting. Elhokar already is average. Keeping on being average, and coming to terms with, would be interesting, and it is a story we don't have in SA.

Then Stick is just back to being overrated again.

Odium possessed Elhokar... no thanks. If Elhokar goes evil/becomes an antagonist, it should be because of Dalinars mistakes, and his general situation, not because of random possession. That has rarely been an interesting storyline. The most interesting villains are the ones you feel symphaty for, and the ones who acts for understandable reasons. Elhokar is a character who could be such a character. Making him Odium-possessed would be a waste of time. Furthermore, I disagree with @maxal. Elhokars "becoming a better king" arc wouldn't be the same as Renarins arc. Especially if Elhokar doesn't become a Radiant. Learning to be king, confronting his mistakes, and finally overcoming the fact that he is the average joe, would be a good arc for Elhokar. He could be in charge of holding stuff together at home while the Radiants are out killing things. And this would allow Elhokar to show character growth by seeing everyone but him becoming KR, but deciding not to whine and instead focus on improving and cultivating the skills he already has. Having Elhokar finally deciding that he can be himself, and be good because of it, instead of wishing that he was someone else would be a good arc.

Haha. Kelsier is my overall favorite, in both Mistborn, Cosmere and fiction in general.

What do you guys think of the Oscars? As a big fan of blockbuster movies, I am pretty anti the Academy. I think that they grant 90% of their biggest prizes and awards to deep drama movies, without concern for the fact that sci-fi and fantasy can be just as good. So, do you like the Oscars? Is there any winning movie that didn't deserve their prize? Is there a movie that should have gotten acknowledgement? Big Oscar discussion, go!

I always thought that he would be good as the voice of Wyndle. I'd cast Michael Pena as Lopen personally.

When I fancast I generally try to get people with darker skin for most characters. I don't always get the eyes right though, because I don't know enough asian actors. That said, you are free to cast whoever you want :-) Assume make-up or cast ethnicity are both okay.

About Elhokar, since I like defending the guy (its kind of my thing to defend disliked characters in the community). Elhokar wants to be a good king because he has grown up around powerful men. His father unified Alethkar, his uncle is a conqueror, his mother and sister are both respected and commanding people, excelling within their chosen field. It is not strange that he cares about looking good and excelling in order to be praised. He is insecure, and surrounded by people who are, in one way or another, brilliant. He is the only one who isn´t, and yet he is supposed to be the guy in charge. In those circumstances, most people would be whiny and selfish. This is one of the major reasons as to why I think people go to hard on him. He is the average joe among a bunch of Supermen. Elhokar also cares for others. He does. He let the Darkeyes enter the arena.

What made it biased and illogical? I remember that you felt Adolin should be caucasian, and didn´t see why he couldn´t be, when they cast people without ephiantic folds as Jasnah and Sadeas. Was it anything else?

Who would be the most effective baby-sitter for Lift, Straff or Elhokar?

I´ll vote Mistborn because it can actually be done as a movie. Stormlight is probably unfilmable, as a movie. However, if we had a tv-series, with a budget bigger than Game of Thrones, then I would defenitely give that my vote.

Great find! I agree that the betrothal is aimed at Adolin and Shallan (is this something that will make the Shalladin shippers happy?) The betrayal could be Dalinar and Amaram. Or Dalinar and Adolin, when Dalinar discovers that Adolin killed Sadeas. Wedding of only son... I doubt this is Elhokar, at least not if the others are supposed to be recorded when the books are set. I doubt Navani walks around trying this thing for several years, and if she did, Elhokars wedding should be a very early test, and would probably not be grouped with more recent ones. I don´t know who it could be otherwise though. Maybe Szeth marries someone when he is back in Shinovar. Nale could use a wedding to cheer up a bit. The proposal could be loads of characters. Navani, Shallan, Jasnah or Palona for example.

Elhokar sees cryptic-looking things in his mirrors, but they disappeared when Kaladin came.
