Most of the terms we use come directly from Brandon. Focus is one of them. You're mixing things up here a little. (BTW, I have never seen 'fuel' being used as a separate term) Burning metal allows for a flow of Investiture from Preservation. Charge in metalminds does not decay. Hemalurgical spikes decay because Hemalurgy is about power loss. For color on Nalthis and water on Taldain I've seen used term 'catalyst'. We do not know what is it about frost on Roshar, but we've seen it only when a rapid expulsion of Stormlight occurs. I suspect it has to do with transition of the Realms, similarly to how Blades are wet when summoned. It's not liquid Investiture that allows access to Cognitive Realm. It's just that a place which naturally collects Shard's Investiture (which is named Shardpool) also transcends Realms and that's why it allows access to the Cognitive Realm. It's not about the mind, only about power. It's true that person's mind expands when holding a Shard, but the Sliver refers to somebody who held big portions of Shard's Investiture and let go of it. Brandon described it as deflated balloon. Slivers have a little residue Investiture and their minds retain the changes the Intent caused to them (Ati would have destructive tendencies if he had let go of Ruin; Rashek was fixated on status quo etc). They die only on Physical Realm. Cognitive Shadow still has Spiritual Aspect, although it's ties to Physical Realm have been severed. @Tsidqiyah, I'd suggest diving into Coppermind to get up speed with Cosmere

That. Exactly.

Yeah, probably. (Although my post was intented to be matter-of-factly. I'm surprised it gathered seven downvotes; I'd understand two or three but Argel's post was undoubtely nicer than mine and it still got downvoted just as much. Was it really that bad or just a little rude? I mean, I've seen posts more rude not having even half of that.) I kinda wish I hadn't mentioned it's my post, it derailed the whole issue :| I've seen things with bad internet connections; I am a little curious, though, how the heck it made your comment post seven times, what's happening with that wifi? Perhaps you need to check the router for Voidbringers, it's unusual

Well, if I told somebody to throw the garbage into a trashbin instead of just dumping it on a boardwalk, I'd probably also come off as rude.

My entire post: Hey, but I don't really mind all those downvotes. I mean... it's not exactly nice, but it's not something I'll think about twice. It's just really frustrating that people don't use search, create topics about the same rusting thing and justify it by saying it's hard to use search and don't realize they're only making using search harder.

The Official Thread of Relationships

Well, yeah, but what about Cognitive and Spiritual Aspect of it? -
Well, I don't know where do you live and I live in Poland, so Witcher is in every bookstore in multiple versions So I can't help you with that (Wikipedia says they were published in English, though) And I think you got me wrong: The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny are not short stories (well, there are also short stories with those titles), these are collections of short stories. Each of those antologies is about as long or longer than the Blood of Elves. The Last Wish contains six stories + one overaraching framing story. 290 pages long. It should be read first. It contains the very first Witcher stories. Sword of Destiny contains six stories and is about 360 pages long. It should be read just before the Blood of Elves. Good luck on getting them

Steven Universe: I see what you did here

That's two episodes in line filled with pizza, Steven Universe! Why are you doing this to me?! I can't get hungry in the middle of the night and surely I have no way to eat pizza right now! I always get hungry when I read/watch about food...

What if you encase yourself in aluminium completely? On related note: Would Aluminium Gnats be invisible to Seers? It's the best thing against Coinshots/Lurchers/Bloodmakers, so I guess it would be not uncommon to carry such a weapon. Tin and gunshots? It would reduce them to mumbling mess on the floor, probably. At the beginning of WoA, Vin was burning pewter and it hurt when the Smoker started making loud noises with his sticks it hurt her strongly. Gunshots are way louder, so loud that even without tin it's a good idea to protect your ears.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)

Granted. You discover you are a Feruchemist just a moment before Inquisitors attack Synod. You are captured, interrogated, tortured and killed by spike. I wish... for a slice of bread? -
... actually, now I think about it, it's atium what will be totally worthless with all that aluminium laying around. I mean, aluminium does not have an atium shadow.

My point is: why go with halving the unit if simply halving the number would have been enough (and it would be less noticeable, nobody pays attention to big numbers but us Sharders lunatics)? Also, that whole thing raises another question. I get that Adien could have memorised the distance to Teoras. But how does he know the distance to docks? He does change the number after Ashe says Sarene is in the docks.

I was trying to find if the patterns in the Feruchemical table could tell me something importand; I was obviously disappointed when it turned out to be the same as in the Allomantic table (except for the mistake which I realized then). Since both Feruchemical and Allomantic symbols could be tracked down to the same source (ancient Terris symbols), they're bound to share similarites. And nicrosil symbols fit each other as chromium symbols fit each other; it doesn't work when we compare Feruchemical nicrosil to Allomantic chromium and vice versa.

I guess he could refresh the Bloodseal every evening, but the first Bloodseal was applied in the morning, so it stayed that way. The Essence Marks stay as long as they can and it's proportional to how well the seal aligns with the target - for example, those Shai tried on Gaotona lasted from few seconds to over a minute. A few didn't last at all. The Essence Marks Shai created last over a day (26 hours), so they can be reapplied every day at the same time and there's still margin of error of two hours.
-
You're right, of course. I knew it's chromium/nicrosil that are wrong, but then when I was posting I made a mistake, dunno why.

Getting seven downvotes just because I said that "it's the third topic about that" and that they "should learn to use search". I linked the original topic which holds answers. Then @Argel agreed with me and got another seven downvotes But the real Pet Peeve is when people don't understand they're causing the problem with searching for something by creating more topics about the same thing! It's hard to use search exactly because you don't bother to do it!

@The One Who Connects, I'm describing the passage form the Anniversary Edition. It goes like this: Adien tells Raoden the number of steps (1 054 442). He tells Raoden it's the number of steps to Teoras. Then he says "measure my step and then use its half as your unit". Raoden measures Adien's step with a piece of cloth and then draws a line half as long. Then Adien tells him it's 1 054 401 to the docks.
-
So there was a Feruchemical table released but only now I have taken a closer look... (here for reference, spoilered for size) And the thing is, it's wrong: aluminium chromium should be switched with duraluminium nicrosil. It breaks all the patterns. (For those who don't want to check all the metals, it's just Allomancy table rotated 45 degrees to the right)
-
Chapter 15. It does say the they should have aluminium plates in walls to stop emotional Allomancy. That's really surprising, how could anyone afford that?
-
So I know that some things have been changed in 10th Anniversary edition. One of them was something about Adien giving the distance to Teod to Radeon so he could teleport there by Aon Tia. But something doesn't make sense here: Why did he tell him to use half of the length of his step as the unit? He know how many steps are to Teod and tells him that and then tells him to halve his step. Why?
-
Do you have source for this? I find this very unlikely, as aluminium is currently worth more than platinum (well, maybe now they keep refining the methods it's only worth more than gold). Nobody could afford to coat the building with aluminium.

Isn't it related more to how fresh the blood is?

It's important not to allow tabs exceed fifty.
